To stop feeling bad for Amazon employees?

So I ordered a thing. An important, pricey thing that I needed ASAP. Should have been next day delivery. Didn't arrive. Didn't arrive next day either. Third day I chase them up and they admit they lost it and let me order a replacement. Two more days. Ok, shit happens. I'm unhappy, but let me have my thing. Guess what... not here. Today on the app it says - delivered last night and handed directly. I call customer service and they say give it until TUESDAY until I can reorder or ask for refund. Well fuck you very much! I'm livid. I keep pestering them, maybe 3-4 phone calls, until a helpful person answers. He finds out that the courier... broke it. He placed a reorder and a £10 gift card. Hopefilly the thing will arrive next week. Well... thanks a lot for premium service I pay subscription for Angry

Did you mistake AIBU for trustpilot?

Farlow · 30/08/2020 17:12

So you’re angry with all amazon employees because of once incident? 😂

TheHighestSardine · 30/08/2020 17:12

So you're saying someone nothing to do with Amazon broke it, Amazon found that out for you while you were shouting at them, and it's still their fault?

Okay.

WorraLiberty · 30/08/2020 17:15

I know 4 people who quite happily work for Amazon

I'm not sure it'd ever cross their minds that people should feel bad for them anyway?

CatsArePeopleToo · 30/08/2020 17:16

First time - somebody loses it, second time- somebody breaks it. Then the audacity to tell me to wait few more days in case it turns up before reordering or refunding. Go figure.

On the other hand I placed an order which said it would arrive Monday but it has arrived today. So fantastic service and I don't pay for prime.

Maybe you have just been unlucky with the courier bit of your deliveries.

LakieLady · 30/08/2020 17:19

Boycott the tax-dodging bastards, OP.

heartsonacake · 30/08/2020 17:20

You realise people are human, right? And they make mistakes?

CatsArePeopleToo · 30/08/2020 17:21

I have been happy with prime usually, but this year they have gotten bad. Well, covid, I understand. Items not turning up then taking time to refund - I didn't care much because they were unimportant and inexpensive. But this was important and caused me quite a distress.

BritWifeinUSA · 30/08/2020 17:22

Both problems appear to have been caused by the courier. It’s difficult for Amazon to lose an item - they don’t have just one of each thing. And the courier broke the replacement.

If you needed it that urgently why not go to a shop and buy one there and then. Is it life-saving medical equipment? If not, surely it can wait or can be bought elsewhere.

CatsArePeopleToo · 30/08/2020 17:24

Well if I knew I would have done exactly that.

oceanbreezy · 30/08/2020 17:27

Was it dispatched and sold by amazon?
Or another company selling through amazon.

Gingerkittykat · 30/08/2020 17:28

It sounds like the courier was at fault rather than Amazon staff.

I feel bad for the employees who you hassled four times a day, no doubt you were heated with them on the phone.

I've always found Amazon customer service to be some of the best I have experienced.

CatsArePeopleToo · 30/08/2020 17:28

Yes, by Amazon, not third party

Noextremes2017 · 30/08/2020 17:35

Why does anybody feel bad for Amazon employees?
They are employees not conscripts!

CatsArePeopleToo · 30/08/2020 17:35

If the first person on the phone had been helpful I wouldn't need to call them again and again

OP posts:
Beautiful3 · 30/08/2020 17:37

Sounds like amazon did nothing wrong. It was the couriers fault.

DamnShesaSexyChick · 30/08/2020 17:43

Why did you feel sorry for them to begin with?

Rockbird · 30/08/2020 17:48

The whole wait till next week and then sort it system they have is shit. Like the OP it leaves out of pocket and without the item until they decide they'll deign to look at your complaint. I usually have no beef with Amazon, I'm a very frequent customer but this gets my goat.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 30/08/2020 17:50

You sound deranged

Branleuse · 30/08/2020 17:53

theyre rubbish. I cancelled my prime account this year. Theyve been getting steadily worse value and less reliable, plus theyve really shafted and undercut other companies, and then when the other companies go bust, amazon raise their price again.
Jeff Bezos has profited so massively from coronavirus that it makes me sick

Plussizejumpsuit · 30/08/2020 17:53

One bad example of customer service doesn't mean they don't have shitty working conditions. Do you understand they aren't the same thing?

Eckhart · 30/08/2020 17:56

I don't understand why they put delivery times on the orders. In my experience, I get an email to say my item has been delivered, and it hasn't. When I phone customer service, which is an ordeal in itself, they say 'It'll probably come tomorrow or the next day, get back to us if it doesn't.'

They should just put on the order that their courier is unreliable so they can't guarantee a delivery time/date. Or use a reliable courier.

Next you will be complaining about Ryanair.

Take your business elsewhere.
