So I ordered a thing. An important, pricey thing that I needed ASAP. Should have been next day delivery. Didn't arrive. Didn't arrive next day either. Third day I chase them up and they admit they lost it and let me order a replacement. Two more days. Ok, shit happens. I'm unhappy, but let me have my thing. Guess what... not here. Today on the app it says - delivered last night and handed directly. I call customer service and they say give it until TUESDAY until I can reorder or ask for refund. Well fuck you very much! I'm livid. I keep pestering them, maybe 3-4 phone calls, until a helpful person answers. He finds out that the courier... broke it. He placed a reorder and a £10 gift card. Hopefilly the thing will arrive next week. Well... thanks a lot for premium service I pay subscription for Angry

Sounds like amazon did nothing wrong. It was the couriers fault

But Amazon employ the courier. That's like getting burnt food at a restaurant and then saying you can't complain about the restaurant, because it was the chef's fault.

vanillandhoney · 30/08/2020 18:01

If something gets lost, it's normally the couriers fault. Have you been in touch with the courier company?

Not really as the chef works directly for the restaurant

What a strange comment.

You’re a bit of a bam @CatsArePeopleToo
It’s the arsey “go figure” tone

Um, it's really not.

That’s just a silly comparison. Chefs are directly employed by the restaurant, whereas couriers are in partnership with Amazon. It’s not the same at all.

Why isn't your heading remotely related to your post?

lifesalongsong · 30/08/2020 18:24

Why is your default position to feel bad for Amazon employees in the first place, why do you need permission to stop. Did I miss that they are a group we all have to pity in some way?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 30/08/2020 18:26

Other than during the worst of the lockdown when I didn’t get things next day, I have never had an issue with Amazon.

I’ve had issues with other companies where delivery has gone wrong but, unless it becomes a regular thing or doesn’t get sorted out properly in the end, I don’t tarnish them based on that one experience.

NiceGerbil · 30/08/2020 18:37

There has been lots in the news about the working conditions I'm surprised so many people missed it.

Pearsapiece · 30/08/2020 18:40

The key word here is 'expensive item'. Guarantee the courier knows what's inside and has nicked it. Happens all the time.

Ncncncnc88 · 30/08/2020 18:42

Excellent comment @lockheart

jolokoy · 30/08/2020 18:45

I will never stop feeling sorry for Amazon employees. Those poor buggers are treated like dirt.

Eckhart · 30/08/2020 18:52

So we should be happy that Amazon tried their best, despite the fact that their deliveries don't arrive in the time period they offer and we pay for? Poor Amazon? Whether the courier is directly employed by or in partnership with Amazon is neither here nor there. Amazon is telling us when the delivery day will be, and Amazon takes our money, so it's Amazon's responsibility to make sure that's what happens, and to compensate should it not happen.

BlackForestCake · 30/08/2020 18:54

If you knew how little the couriers are paid per delivery, you would understand why the service is bad.

Oysterbabe · 30/08/2020 18:55

I don't think you can write them off for this one incident. My experience with Amazon has been nothing but excellent and I order A LOT. Things always delivered lightning fast and refunds issued immediately if there's a problem.

BoomBoomsCousin · 30/08/2020 18:57

YABU to base your sympathy or otherwise for the jobs Amazon employees have to do with your dissatisfaction with Amazon service which will be more to do with Amazon’s policies than with individual employees.

It’s a crap experience with Prime, though. In general I’m really happy with them but from time to time everything goes wrong and it always seems to be with an item I really need.

jolokoy · 30/08/2020 19:06

I don't feel sorry for AMAZON, but for the employees, yes.

They're not tax dodging billionaires. They are just people like us.

cherrybakewellll · 30/08/2020 19:35

Was it a glass dildo? Because then I might understand your anger is probably just sexual frustration. Otherwise YABU.
