We are resisting putting the heating on and layering up instead but I felt cold in bed last night so will be increasing the amount of layers on my bed. I have several that gradually get added until I am cocooned by the depths of winter - right now I am at def con 3, which is unheard of for August!

Shmithecat2 · 29/08/2020 22:04

Yep, got the heating on, been set to a min of 22°c since yesterday. I don't like cold. We have open fires in the living and dining rooms, but I can't use those til I get the chimneys swept. Which reminds me to book one

CeeceeBloomingdale · 29/08/2020 22:04

Yep, its freezing

Murinae · 29/08/2020 22:11

It’s 9 degrees outside here tonight! Log burner warms the house up nicely

Lolwhat · 29/08/2020 22:16

Not yet, I’m still sleeping in just a blanket and usually I’m the first to be cold🤣

Krook · 29/08/2020 22:20

I am in the SE and it's definitely not been 22 degress here today....I have my massive fluffy slippers on! Have eyed the boiler a few times but so far managed to resist putting the heating on.

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 29/08/2020 22:21

Our thermostat is set to 22 and it hasn't kicked in yet, monitor in DS's room says it's 24

year5teacher · 29/08/2020 22:23

Our boiler is broken 😭 and has been for ages. At least two years of it being very temperamental but our landlord refuses to replace it. So I would have it on if I could!

Leaannb · 29/08/2020 22:23

All of you are being completely unreasonable. Only because I'm jealous.

Hohofortherobbers · 29/08/2020 22:25

Had it on for 1 hour at 5pm just to 'test it in case we had a cold snap' .... Well that was my justification to dh anyway

Consideredopinion · 29/08/2020 22:26

All these people saying it's August so you can't have the heating in, it's 5 degrees in the SE tonight, why on earth does what it says on the calendar affect your decision?? If it's cold it's cold!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/08/2020 22:28

Consideredopinion principal! Once it’s on, it’s on sporadically until March....££££

Ringsender2 · 29/08/2020 22:38

I would, but our boiler is broken. I bought a cheap fleece zip up top and am sitting here wearing it, with a blanket over my knees. It got to a heady 14°C here today, but even then it feels colder when we step into the house from outside. Brrr

Babyroobs · 29/08/2020 22:40

We are just back from a largely cold and wet week in Northumberland, stopped off to see family on the way but could obviously only socially distance in the garden so sat huddled in blankets under a garden umbrella. We were still feeling thoroughly chilled by the time we arrived home so the first thing we did was put the heating on.

Gertie75 · 29/08/2020 22:41

I'm away in our caravan and have it set to maintain 20°, it's lovely and cosy.

I rarely use the heating or fire at home now though since buying a heated throw for the settee, I just heat me instead of the whole house.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 29/08/2020 22:46

Not a chance. I’ve got a hoodie on over a t/shirt & pj bottoms with Ugg boots and I’m lovely and warm.
