Andrew Gosden. Although there is no evidence a crime was committed.

BSintolerant · 28/08/2020 00:10

The story of the Hinterkaifeck murders is fascinating. I’d love to know who did it and why.

The 'Criminal' podcasts are good, although they're about all sorts of things and murders don't crop up all that often, still less unsolved ones. It's not at all sensationa.

RedLlama · 28/08/2020 00:15

Case file is an awesome podcast

I really like Criminal because they do stories on all sorts of things associated with crime - from the shocking to the mundane, everything from assassinations to streaking!

If anyone is looking for recommendations these particular eps are belters:

#51 ‘Money Tree’ - a woman whose identity is stolen as a teenager leaving her credit rating shot learns the truth about how it happened. Gripping, and quite sad.

#125 ‘the less people know about us’ - follow up on the money tree ep.

#60 - ‘finding Sarah and Philip’ - (warning for child death/murder) really moving story about a woman whose children were murdered and the search to find their bodies, and a stranger who decides to step in and help.

#71 - ‘a bump in the night’. Very scary story about a young woman who hears weird noises in her home and slowly realises what’s behind them.

When I was a teenager and up until I had my son in my early 30's I was obessed with details off any famous serial killer I could get my hands on, I better I was not obessed with the killing side but how they were caught side and why they were that way.

Since my son was born I have lost interest in true crime but I love fictional crime novels still

I think now I would be more curious on missing people never found then the Ted Bundy, Jack the Ripper type

FOKKYFC · 28/08/2020 00:23

@Sparklesocks I've listened to all those except #60 for some reason. I'll get on it. 'Cowboy Bob' and 'Bully' are my faves. 'Bump In The Night' scared my mum to death!

Girlmama · 28/08/2020 00:29

Not obsessed but completely intrigued by for since I was a teenager: JonBenet Ramsey and The Menendez Brothers.

Sunpinesmile · 28/08/2020 00:30

Fascinated by the people who just vanish...

ShopTattsyrup · 28/08/2020 00:31

@tobee I mean ... Arsenic filled scones at afternoon tea. It's basically an Agatha Christie!

CherryCocktails · 28/08/2020 00:33

Dirty John. I watched the series and listened to all the podcasts. It was such a scary and fascinating story.

Washyourhands48 · 28/08/2020 00:39

Not obsessed but I closely followed the Nikitta Grender murder trial .... so sad.

ALongHardWinter · 28/08/2020 00:43

I was really gripped by the Jerry Bamber murders.

ALongHardWinter · 28/08/2020 00:44

Yes cowboy bob!!

Bump in the night is pure nightmare fuel!! Confused

BashfulClam · 28/08/2020 00:54

Suzanne Pilley...she disappeared on her way to work. Cctv picked her up meters from work. Her ex partner was charged with murder ing her in the basement of their shared office and then driving miles up north to dump the body.

All the evidence points to him and he had been charged despite her body not being recovered but he is appealing .

tobee · 28/08/2020 01:01

Body of Proof podcast is about Suzanne Pilley (Audible only)

Missing persons - The Lady Vanishes is interesting.

tobee · 28/08/2020 01:03

The Lady Vanishes = podcast

boltzmannbrains · 28/08/2020 01:05

Asha Degree - poor little girl who voluntarily left her home in the middle of a stormy night (despite being frightened of the dark and of storms), was seen walking a few miles away, then vanished. Her backpack was found buried and some of her possessions were found in a local shed.

boltzmannbrains · 28/08/2020 01:08

Sorry just saw Asha Degree has been mentioned.

I believe there are unexplained elements of the Panama disappearance and the explanation that they got injured and/or lost still leaves a lot unexplained. I don’t think foul play is out of the question.

AcrossthePond55 · 28/08/2020 01:16

A local case, Christie Wilson.. Fifteen years ago a she was seen leaving a local casino in the early hours with a man and was never seen again. The man, Mario Garcia, denied any involvement but was convicted of her murder based on forensic and strong circumstantial evidence. Her family has begged him to tell them where her body is. He has continued to maintain his silence and still denies responsibility.

Her body was found buried on his property three days ago.

somm · 28/08/2020 01:21

Andrew Gosden > This disappearance is one that has bothered me for a long time. Probably due to him looking like my son at a similar age. I didn't know about him until I was in Whitby and someone was walking in front of me with a t-shirt on that had his picture on, and 'missing'. I looked him up on-line. My heart sank when I saw he was last sighted on CCTV at a London railway station. All these years later I still hope he'll be found safe and well, but I know it's not likely.

I'm not sure Andrew even featured in the press much, just appeared on news bulletins at the time, because he didn't have the requisite look. Ever since I saw that t-shirt, and watched the last known footage of him, he's stayed in my mind.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 28/08/2020 01:30

Nicola Payne. She was a cousin of my childhood best friend, so when she went missing I saw the devastation for her family at first hand. We were only kids ourselves and it was confusing and scary thinking someone could just walk out of the house across the field we all played in, and never be seen again. I banned DS from using that field as a shortcut to school and went barmy when I found he was doing it anyway.

tobee · 28/08/2020 02:47

@ShopTattsyrup lol yes!
