Prompted by the thread about companies using covid as an excuse for poor service.

I'll start with Wellocks at Home. They deliver fruit and veg boxes etc. A couple of weeks ago they accidentally delivered my box to the wrong address. When I phoned to ask where it was a very helpful and friendly lady eventually worked out what had happened, apologised, refunded me and arranged for another box to be delivered - it was there in the porch before breakfast. They may have made a mistake but they put it right so well I didn't mind

I’d also back ao ( however I didn’t need them through lockdown.
My local Links pharmacy have been fantastic with our multiple prescriptions ( which GPs have repeatedly been unable to synchronise) and made sure that we have the medications that we need.

Sainsburys have been fantastic with my elderly mum and miraculously found slots for her.

Local independent pet store have been wonderful.

Also our local Co-op.
Couldn’t live without Amazon.

hastingsmua1 · 26/08/2020 22:53

Went to subway today for the first time in years as they randomly emailed me a birthday cookie gift.

The guy at the till ended up giving me 3 free cookies and a drink (the gift code was just for 1 cookie) for the hell of it! Pretty cool

Tbh I always randomly get offered free food eg Nando’s, five guys, pret. Dunno whyBlush makes my day though

Amazon. DD's kindle fire that Father Christmas purchased last November has randomly packed up, sent me out another one for free, no problem at all!

Giganticshark · 26/08/2020 23:42

New look. Ordered 9pm. Items were delivered at 9am next day. With 25 percent off

Giganticshark · 26/08/2020 23:43

And they have free returns and free delivery.
(abercrombie charged me delivery and wanna charge me £9 to return a £10 top.... Sigh)

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 26/08/2020 23:46

Amazon, used them loads and it’s so quick, easy and delivery always smooth.

thedishonthecoffeetable · 27/08/2020 00:29

Our local Lidl has been fantastic, staff friendly and helpful, when we had to queue outside the security guard was always cheery, I think it helped that we were allowed to shop as a couple, gave it some sort of semblance of normality. IOur B &M were the same too
My best friend Amazon has been very helpful too

Shopaholic100 · 27/08/2020 01:59

Amazon, they do really live up to their Most customer centric claims by always providing outstanding service and going over and beyond.

Glad to hear lots of positive comments about AO, as I just purchased a hob from them today.

DorothygohometoKansas · 27/08/2020 05:24

Bower Collective have given the most excellent customer service recently, taking just hours to sort out a problem with my order after I emailed them. Sent a really lovely email back and the missing item From my order was in the post the next day. Highly recommend them for eco friendly cleaning products, their lavender laundry conditioner smells so lovely.

Ffern also gave excellent customer service, I was so impressed that my entire query was sorted out within one working day and in such a friendly manner.

BA & EasyJet!
I was travelling to see family in France - BA one way & EasyJet on the way back.
The new quarantine rules came in on the Friday/Saturday.
I was due to take initial BA flight on the Monday. I called up on the Sunday, got through within 5 mins, explained why I was cancelling & got a voucher valid for 18 months.
I then called EasyJet - 10 days before my flight plus I'd already checked in... Waited 10mins to get through. Explained my reason for cancelling & got a voucher for 12 months no questions asked.
I was happy with vouchers as they are routes I fly quite often & they will get used. It's worth bearing in mind that the flights had been booked a while ago - BA before Corona & EasyJet whilst the air corridors first came in.
British Gas
I needed to change my HomeCare agreement before renewal. Got through straight away on the phone.
Had a long chat with a lovely lady who sorted out my renewal & booked in my annual boiler service. She didn't try to flog me anything extra either...
She was working from home, had been since March & wasn't going back into the office til next year.
Her neighbours were doing building work & it was driving her mad.
She was eager to do her best as she knows how crap lockdown has been for a lot of people. Think she was a bit lonely to be honest!
The Clinique counter at John Lewis Oxford Street.
I went in looking for a basic mascara, didn't want any fancy stuff, I've got long thick lashes, just blonde...
We went through all of the mascaras, wiping them on a tissue to show colour.
She didn't know if hot air from my mask would affect the mascara's consistency on my lashes but she said if it wasn't right, just bring it back & they'd refund it.
I mentioned my terrible M-acne. She gave me advice on make up - make a feature of my eyes & use my usual tinted moisturiser sparingly on forehead & neck. If I was to remove my mask, maybe pop some more tint on the rest of my face in the loos to match up
She didn't try to flog me anything to 'cure' the M-acne - it's a fact of life that for a lot of people, the mask is continuously steaming their T-zone & zits are now a way of life for all people regardless of all ages!
All the make up counters in JL were brilliant - really helpful. Excellent service!

heidbuttsupper · 27/08/2020 06:11

EE who let me cancel my contract early for free and were nice and chatty on the phone.

CopperBeeches · 27/08/2020 06:41

Waitrose - without a doubt. I asked for something I couldn't find and a lovely assistant helped me, was chatty and kind then offered to take my shopping out to the car. All easy, and a pleasant exchange with respect and humour.

When social contact is limited it is wonderful to feel someone being nice to you.

Also so my local garage. I have an old car and the guy who runs the garage is fantastic. I took it in for an intermittent starting problem. He could find nothing wrong so he cleaned it up, checked it out, "re-set" it and gave it back. And didn't charge because he couldn't find anything specific wrong. It has started like a dream since. (He keeps it running beautifully - I probably take it in three or four times a year).

First Direct - who were great when I got a scam text telling me about an "unusual payment" the lovely woman was able to reassure me, and talk to me like a person.

My local chippie - went there on Saturday and they were quick, ran their new distanced queuing system like a military operation, were jokey and friendly and the food was fab!

Oh and John Lewis Kingston - the opticians department. Spent as long as it took to make sure I chose the right pair of glasses, (and it took a while.). I bought a very expensive - but not the most expensive - pair. She was honest about my age and face shape and what really suited me. Made sure I got the right lenses, could answer all my questions - she certainly knew her stuff. A real professional. Am delighted with my specs.

MaidenMotherCrone · 27/08/2020 07:21

The New You Plan. Amazing customer service and support.

Standrewsschool · 27/08/2020 07:40

Furniture Village - visited two different stores recently. In both, a salesman came up to us, was helpful, informative without being pushy.

Tinyleaf · 27/08/2020 07:49

Farmison for me. So helpful when there was a mix up and lovely meat

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 27/08/2020 09:12

Eurocamp. They gave us the option to cancel due to quarantine rules coming into place. Gave us a credit note for the full balance and £200 to upgrade for next year. Immediately booked for next year with upgraded accommodation, which we will actually need as we will have 3 kids by then rather than just these 2. Fantastic quick service.

JudgeRindersMinder · 27/08/2020 09:20

A boutique local to me. My dad passed away during lockdown and my adult dd needed something to wear TigerLily delivered a dress to me in person when we were in full lockdown and courier services were dodgy, even for such a local delivery.
The independent retailers have done brilliantly, hitting the ground running and adapting their businesses during lockdown, and I now try to shop with them as much as I can

OLGADEEPOLGA · 27/08/2020 09:26

Morrisons are just brilliant
Aldi
Amazon

Not so good -

Co-OP
Asda

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 27/08/2020 09:28

Asda, let me keep a bottle of gin that they had left the security tag on, refunded it and told me how to remove it took me all of a minute with a long screwdriver. 😁

HMRC rang to ask about rebate after i wrote to them, very nice lady very apologetic as no record of my letter, gave me some info which was not what i expected, then rang me back to say she had made a mistake and my original info was right, processed my rebate and it was in my bank the next day.

gingajewel · 27/08/2020 09:30

Another vote for jet2, excellent customer service, friendly and sorted everything out that needed sorting.

Bearlyclearly · 27/08/2020 09:39

Moonpig, I ordered some flowers and card for a friends birthday in lockdown. She sent me a message to thank me but said some of the flowers were brown and stems were broken. Moonpig sent a new bouquet of flowers the next day that were in great condition, refunded me the entire order and gave me a £15 credit on my Moonpig account.

MasterBruceBalloon · 27/08/2020 10:35

Our Little Globe. They are a subscription for children based around learning about the world. There was an issue where my daughter had accidentally been removed as an active subscriber but I was still being charged - I didn't notice for a couple of months. They put it right immediately (outside of business hours) and have given me a lifetime discount. Would recommend them!

HunterAngel · 27/08/2020 13:46

Halfords. Went to get my bike checked as it was making a grinding noise. Got the brakes adjusted, child seat checked etc while I waited then a very lovely assistant held the bike so I could get DS back in his seat
