What companies have given you really good service recently?

Prompted by the thread about companies using covid as an excuse for poor service.

I'll start with Wellocks at Home. They deliver fruit and veg boxes etc. A couple of weeks ago they accidentally delivered my box to the wrong address. When I phoned to ask where it was a very helpful and friendly lady eventually worked out what had happened, apologised, refunded me and arranged for another box to be delivered - it was there in the porch before breakfast. They may have made a mistake but they put it right so well I didn't mind

Lush employees are nice , but I just can't go in there as my eyes start to water and I start sneezing. Ds1 likes their products and service.

GingerBeverage · 26/08/2020 15:45

I judge a company by how they respond when things go wrong. Stashbee were great.

vanillandhoney · 26/08/2020 15:47

Blacks. Ordered some waterproof trousers in their sale - was told 7-10 days to dispatch. They were sent out within 12 hours and with me in 36.

WanderingMilly · 26/08/2020 15:47

AO....needed a washing machine right in the middle of the lockdown. The machine was cheap but excellent, arrived 48 hours (I'd ordered at a weekend) two blokes came to bring it upstairs, into my flat and plumb it in when folk weren't really going into homes at all. I was SO grateful.

The "Three" 'phone people. Something wrong with my mobile, found a small Three shop in the next town. Really, really helpful chap, lots of time, smiley and chatty, no sales push at all, sorted it all out. Said I wanted a much cheaper deal and they sorted that out too, I am saving loads a month so it wasn't as though they got anything out of it at all. Very pleased with my visit.

Oh, and my local GP surgery, they have been nothing but helpful in difficult circumstances and are open and contactable despite the pandemic.

shieldedsally · 26/08/2020 15:49

My local organic/cooperative greengrocer. When my vegbox extras went AWOL someone literally drove them to my house within 2 hours. They explained they knew I needed them because I was shielding.

I have honestly found local businesses way better and more responsive than big national ones over the last 6 months. I will never forget that they were there for me when all the big supermarkets had sold out of everything I needed and I will support them long term.

Laiste · 26/08/2020 15:50

This is a really nice thread actually!

I realise that some of these instances (including my own) might be down simply to the individual you got on the day, but still - it's all nice to hear :)

FizzyPink · 26/08/2020 15:51

I’m sure this isn’t everyone’s experience but BA for us. They refunded two holidays within 24 hours of me calling and didn’t even try to get me to take a voucher.

Ludo19 · 26/08/2020 15:52

Maui Jim....sunglasses. My partner broke my beloved pair, which were about 7yrs old however still making the model. Sent away for repair of lenses and paid £73. Received them with a lens upgrade which were awful with existing frames. Offered a free return to see if they could improve the lenses. Was told to either chose a new pair up to the value of £190 and pay the difference or they'd let me keep my old pair and refund the cost of the repair. Choose a brand new pair total turnaround was 10 days. First class service via telephone and email!

TheQueef · 26/08/2020 15:55

Stop laughing it's too soon Angry

It was farcical, we were all wearing masks so couldn't understand each other.
They kept calling me back.
Even someone leaving muttered at me 'there's always one' as she passed.
I still don't know how it got so loud and aggressive.
Fucking brutal Sad

oliveaddict · 26/08/2020 15:57

Snuzpod - the zip on baby's crib broke, mainly due to me leaning on it Blushemailed them and got sent a quick form to do and a new fabric part was with us in days. No photo evidence even needed or anything. Will always recommend them now.

VickyEadieofThigh · 26/08/2020 15:57

Jet2 - refunded the money for our holiday (Covid cancelled) without any argument.

Bettys (no apostrophe, apparently) of York, etc. They sent the smaller fruit cake in my order of goodies and when I rang up, a gorgeous young man offered me either a complete refund or to send an additional cake of the required size. So I got a free smaller cake.

Another vote for AO - we've had several appliances from them over the past decade and they're always fantastic.

The80sweregreat · 26/08/2020 16:04

Who knew that a diy store could cause such angst! Our one is tucked out the way and mostly used by the trade , so it's never that busy.
I've been hissed at by a fellow shopper in savers. That was horrible as I wasn't near them at all but that was ' early lockdown ' !
Boots had a nice assistant yesterday who was very helpful when usually they are not. I was pleasantly surprised and she gave some good advice.
I've been the wrong way out of doors and wrong arrow walking . It's been tough at times with the rules.

kelper · 26/08/2020 16:08

AO. My 20 year old dishwasher died during lockdown. Everywhere else wanted silly money, and couldn't deliver for weeks.
AO, 2 day delivery, the delivery men were fab and bought the machine right up to my kitchen door despite my drive having a massive hole in it at the moment (Thanks DH)

Also Snag tights have fabulous customer services, the pair of chub rub shorts I bought got a hole in the seam after wearing twice, they sent out a new pair and told me the best way to repair the holes ones :)

Crunchymum · 26/08/2020 16:13

Hummingbird bakery.

Ordered some cupcakes and a big birthday cake for my 40th, when order arrived the big cake was missing. I only discovered it an hour after delivery (was on a work call and hadn't checked it etc..)

Hummingbird bakery went above and beyond to get my cake to me, it arrived first thing the next day [my actual birthday] was customised just as I had asked and they refunded me the cost of the actual cake.

This was all when they had just reopened too, back in June.

Camphillgirl · 26/08/2020 16:27

Jet2. Excellent customer service.

I got a refund before the holiday date. Lovely lady rang to explain what was happening and enquire what my plan was I.e. did I want to rebook for another date or get a full refund. It wasn’t any fault of Jet2.

I shall always use them in future I want to reward their customer service

Crankley · 26/08/2020 16:43

My local chemist is great and delivers all my medication and Tesco delivery drivers are kind and helpful.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 26/08/2020 16:47

Tigermilly online clothing shop. Had bought a lot of items so they emailed to say they'd arrange for it to come by courier. After 2 failed pickup attempts by Hermes (trying to pickup after office hours) they emailed me back to say they'd split my parcel in 2 and sent it by royal mail 24hr at no extra cost to me and they'd never be using Hermes again.

I count that as a win on 2 counts cos Hermes are shiiiiit.

TSSDNCOP · 26/08/2020 16:49

Our local farm shops have been bloody brilliant throughout the pandemics life, prices have remained the same and supply is consistent. Will continue to use them.

Hush - bless you for keeping my spirits up with being able to buy little treats right through
Amazon
Kenwood Travel
Argos

Our local primary school which opened to Keyworkers and supported right through Easter, all the a bank holidays and half term. Bloody brilliant!

The80sweregreat · 26/08/2020 16:49

My Hermès lady is lovely : she works so hard and is polite and helpful.
It's funny how mumsnetters generally moan about them , but our one is good.

Seriouslymole · 26/08/2020 16:55

Sky, rather against the odds. Spoke to two lovely customer service people yesterday, have had new broadband fitted and was terrified it would be worse than our old one (Virgin, who just kept putting up and up costs and I kept getting chucked off the wifi) and Sky works way better.

Chickenitalia · 26/08/2020 16:56

Our local Boots went above and beyond with opening hours, deliveries and amazing service when the other chemists basically shut the doors and were vile to everyone.

Online I have had amazing service from Amazon, M&S, Bloom & Wild.

Our GP has been brilliant and got hospital referrals for me within the week as well as being able to see her, in person, within hours of the complaint arising.

Ocado were a bit crap at the start but I was one of the chosen ones and have had weekly deliveries with few subs since April.

Plusnet sorted our internet issues the same day.
Direct Line answered the phone within 5 mins when I needed to contact them about the car insurance.

In fact going shopping in our local centre has been fine, no crazy assistants or shouting, no ridiculous rules. When I went further afield one weekend it was very different in a city centre so I think perhaps it depends where you are!

IntermittentParps · 26/08/2020 16:57

For me it's my local independents.

Greengrocer run by two brothers, who were swamped by demand early in lockdown. They worked 18+ hours a day to keep the place stocked and customers served. Were visibly shattered but never less than courteous and helpful. They did deliveries for people shielding etc too. I commented to one on how tired they must be and he shrugged and said, 'It's our community.' I adored them anyway but they've gone above and beyond during Covid.

Indie cafe. Had to close, obviously, during lockdown but used its kitchen to cook hot meals and delivered them to hospitals every day for NHS staff. Again, I liked them anyway, but I'm going out of my way to use them more now.

WrongKindOfFace · 26/08/2020 16:59

Canvas holidays. Got straight through and they let me have a credit note even though we chose to cancel.

Hype backpacks. Delivery issue which wasn’t their fault but sent another one out straight away for next day delivery.

Amazon (as much as it pains me to admit it).

Lush were lovely as well - also got a freebie.

cakewitch · 26/08/2020 17:02

My local little Tesco
Sainsburys
Mc Donald's
And home bargains today, the lovely checkout bloke who offered me help with the 8 bags of compost I'd got.

I've found probably more incidences of great service in the last few weeks than bad.

pinkpetal2 · 26/08/2020 17:03

Amazon. My son dropped his tablet in the bath so I called them to ask where I could get it fixed or if I could, or buy a new one. They said don't worry we'll send you a new one out free of charge. It was there the next dayShock. I was really happy.
