What companies have given you really good service recently?

Prompted by the thread about companies using covid as an excuse for poor service.

I'll start with Wellocks at Home. They deliver fruit and veg boxes etc. A couple of weeks ago they accidentally delivered my box to the wrong address. When I phoned to ask where it was a very helpful and friendly lady eventually worked out what had happened, apologised, refunded me and arranged for another box to be delivered - it was there in the porch before breakfast. They may have made a mistake but they put it right so well I didn't mind

Jet2 have been good. No issues with getting a full refund when our holiday was cancelled. Very prompt.

Wayfair were excellent - they delivered what they said they would when they said they would (unlike IKEA - I paid for home delivery, they only sent 6 of the 7 items. The 7th item arrived after a 3 month delay and was the wrong item, and customer services were about as useful as a chocolate teapot - apparently having half of one wardrobe and half of another was down to my ineptitude despite being ordered as a single item which came in two packages).

Also Legal & General were fantastic when we had to claim on the home insurance. They sorted everything out immediately (in less than 24 hours). Very impressed.

I bought chocolates from The Careless Collection. There was a mistake with my order with only half showing up and David Crichton (the man who makes them) emailed apologising straight away and posted out an extra box with the one that was missing the very next day. Oh and the chocolates are delicious, perfect gift —for yourself— if you know a sweet toothed foodie.

McQueens Dairies. Signed up with them after lockdown started and will be sticking with them when this is over.

Almost afraid to say it but I've been so impressed with McDonald's 😂The covid measures they have in place and the explanation of it have been the best of anywhere by far! Such friendly and helpful staff. And it's not just my local one..ahem.

My vote goes to stinkywicks.co.uk/ I have never received such good customer service when organising a gift for my sister. When they found out it was a birthday gift they changed to 1st class postage for no extra charge, just to make sure it arrived in time. I love it when a new local business deliver so brilliantly. Ordering for myself as soon as payday comes!

American Express travel (not the insurance, the agency) were phenomenal with our flights. Our flights were cancelled and we were re-routed to fly from another airport, and as we were going for a wedding we couldn’t go anyway. A human being answered the phone with a few minutes, she said she’s double check with the airline re refunds and get back to me by the next day. About 20 minutes later she called me back and had done the refund onto my card. Amazing!

My local butchers have been stars, free delivery, excellent products. Shavekit-my dd uses them, dh wanted one so ordered a new handle, they sent that and a spare.
Our local Indian restaurant-free meals delivered for isolated people, then each week free meals for key workers.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/08/2020 19:44

John Lewis checked to see if the lamp I wanted was being discontinued. Saved me buying something I don’t love.

  • Freddie's Flowers
  • Fortnum and Mason - superb afternoon tea with the poshest doggy bags ever - and offered more cake to add to the doggy bag.
  • Sockshop - I ordered, then saw something else I wanted and made a separate order - they happily combined both and refunded one lot of postage, and the socks are really good.

Airbnb: their customer service when there's an issue is amazing and they refunded really quickly in covid times.

Natwest: dealt with a credit card issue so quickly!

Lucy Locket Loves leggings: super fast despatch

Argos: their quality seems to have recently improved!

Aupairworld: ok it's quite niche but when our au pair let us down they gave us a month free membership even though they have no obligation.

Having had an absolutely awful experience online from Pandora with despicable customer service, the manager of my local store went above and beyond to help me. I've learnt my lesson and will never buy online from them again.

Aviva

notanadultyadult · 26/08/2020 20:10

Feel good contacts

I've been using them to order my contact lenses from for years now and ordered a pair of glasses when they started selling these recently.

Their customer service is second to none and they respond to queries within hours. Competitive prices as well but the customer service is what makes me stay.

No mass marketing emails etc

And to top it off they put a small packet of Haribo in with each order and I got a pen with my glasses. I love pens Smile so that made my day!

Amazon!😀

eveningsong · 26/08/2020 20:12

Europcar. I hire a car perhaps two or three times a year as I don't have one of my own.

WrongKindOfFace · 26/08/2020 20:16

I’m adding Odeon to this. Gift card balance expired during lockdown. Realised, emailed them and they added the balance back on straight back on, no quibbling.

And I agree that small, local firms have generally been better than the bigger firms. Often been quicker to adapt and often give much better service. The only downside has been the effect on my waistline.

cheeseychovolate · 26/08/2020 20:16

I was impressed with IKEA delivery, got an email day before delivery stating what time they'd come and then they rang me on the day telling me they're on the way.
Ocado delivery drivers have been great and on time.
Octopus energy made it so easy to change tariff

TheSeedsOfADream · 26/08/2020 20:18

Amazon (as ever)
Cath Kidston

H&M
Bershka
easyJet

Dead to me:
Pull&Bear (missing item and I'm given the third degree and virtually accused of pinching it)
Alitalia

SmilingAloe · 26/08/2020 20:54

Waitrose. I just had a wine delivery, a bottle had been broken in transit and the courier had repackaged the remaining bottles and not owned up to the damage. I rang Waitrose and got through immediately and spoke to a friendly woman who immediately refunded the broken bottle and the postage and also sent me a £15 voucher in the post. I was most impressed.

shartsi · 26/08/2020 21:25

Jet2

Peccary · 26/08/2020 21:42

Le Toy Van, a pleasure to deal with.

Crazycatlady83 · 26/08/2020 21:43

Wayfair. Sent the wrong cat tree (it was massive and I only wanted a little one) Refunded me no problem and said I could “dispose” or “donate” it. So I did to the local RSPCA! They were really happy (my cat wasn’t, he had his eye on that monstrosity!)

MadameBlobby · 26/08/2020 21:44

Our local Morrisons is fab.

PunkrockerGirl59 · 26/08/2020 21:52

Sally's Cottages in Keswick. We were renting a cottage for the week and they dealt so swiftly and efficiently with an emergency maintenance issue at 9am on a Sunday morning - I couldn't praise them enough
