Venison cottage pie monster: AIBU

CorrectileDysfunction · 26/08/2020 12:11

I made cottage pie a couple of days ago with leftover roast venison and some mushrooms that were starting to get a bit shrivelly in the fridge. It was great: DH agreed. There was one portion left.

I am currently eating it cold straight from the fridge out of the tupperware with a fork while DD sleeps in her pram. DH says eating it cold is a crime and I am a monster.

I love cold leftovers.

AIBU and a venison pie monster?

To clarify, I have not stolen the last portion leaving DH hungry. He had to out for a couple of hours for work so was made a nice cheese and tomato sandwich on home made sourdough. He has not been abused here...
This AIBU is SOLELY about me being a cottage pie monster.

You would be wholly unreasonable to do anything else in my book. Sounds delicious!

RunningFromInsanity · 26/08/2020 12:16

I love cold leftovers! And venison pie sounds so good

Quackersandcheese3 · 26/08/2020 12:18

Leftovers are ace but I’d always heat up.

CorrectileDysfunction · 26/08/2020 12:18

Glad to see DH is in the wrong so far. Cold leftovers are the best.

But will the cold pie stand up to more votes? Contention amongst the comments already.

Sounds monsterous to me but I hate mash in any form and cold would push me over the edge.

In general I like to heat up leftovers to get more crispy bits.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 26/08/2020 12:28

YABVU. Nothing should ever be eaten straight from the fridge.

FallonsTeaRoom · 26/08/2020 12:29

Cold pie is always preferable to hot, in my book. Not keen on venison but otherwise nothing wrong in what you're eating.

QuestionableMouse · 26/08/2020 12:29

Hmm. I'm torn. Nothing wrong with a cold pie but not sure about cold mash.

Mamadothehump · 26/08/2020 12:30

Sounds pretty amazing to me!

Twickerhun · 26/08/2020 12:32

Ah sounds perfectly good to me. I love a good Tupperware lunch straight from the fridge, saves washing a plate.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/08/2020 12:32

YABU. This is a thinly disguised stealth boast about your venison and home made sourdough Smile

Not really, I know that venison is similarly priced to other meat. As for cold or heated food, it's entirely up to you, I much prefer hot food to cold, so I would say that HIBU because he's had a sandwich not a toastie, but as for your cold cottage pie, it's not affecting him or anyone else.

AuntyPasta · 26/08/2020 12:34

You ate Bambi Shock

AryaStarkWolf · 26/08/2020 12:34

Depends on the left overs, cold Pizza is my favourite, I'd probably have heated the pie though :p

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 26/08/2020 12:35

@AuntyPasta No. Bambi's mum.

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 26/08/2020 12:36

Venison and homemade sour dough stealth boast😂 peak mumsnet.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/08/2020 12:38

I'm with your Dh, you are indeed a cottage pie monster.

Xiaoxiong · 26/08/2020 12:41

YABVU. Most things don't taste of much straight from the fridge as they do when warmed up. I would warm it up solely to intensify the (undoubtedly glorious) taste - why dull the experience by eating it fridge-cold?

AuntyPasta · 26/08/2020 12:42

Oh, ok. Circle of life Grin

Ribrabrob · 26/08/2020 12:44

YABU for eating staring out of the Tupperware. I don’t know why but I hate Tupperware, I always think it makes food look a bit disgusting.

Homemade sourdough sounds nice though!

WalesStar · 26/08/2020 12:47

YABU. I love leftover cottage pie, but even I’d heat it up. Then again I’d heat up pizza as cold pizza is vile!

unicornparty · 26/08/2020 12:51

Yuck

AdoptedBumpkin · 26/08/2020 12:51

YANBU although I would prefer it warm.

KatherineJaneway · 26/08/2020 12:52

I couldn't eat it cold.
