Venison cottage pie monster: AIBU

I made cottage pie a couple of days ago with leftover roast venison and some mushrooms that were starting to get a bit shrivelly in the fridge. It was great: DH agreed. There was one portion left.

I am currently eating it cold straight from the fridge out of the tupperware with a fork while DD sleeps in her pram. DH says eating it cold is a crime and I am a monster.

I love cold leftovers.

AIBU and a venison pie monster?

YABU. I hate cold leftovers 🤮

FraughtwithGin · 26/08/2020 12:52

You mean the vast majority of Mumsnetters DO NOT make venison cottage pie or their own sourdough? I am shocked! ;-)
Nothing wrong with cold leftovers, although not massively keen on cold mash, but if it was very good to begin with it is probably more than tasty now.

FlumpetCrumpet · 26/08/2020 12:54

YABVU. Nothing should ever be eaten straight from the fridge. WHAT???!!! But what about breakfast pizza? 😢

I feel like Pippin in Lord of the Rings, "but what about second breakfast? Surely he knows about that"

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 26/08/2020 12:55

If it were a pastry pie that's one thing (although room temp is better than fridge cold) but cold mash is pretty rank, honestly. But I also don't like tomatoes in sandwiches.

Polnm · 26/08/2020 12:55

And advertisers are worried that Mumsnet is no longer middle class. Venison and Tupperware

CorrectileDysfunction · 26/08/2020 12:56

@FlumpetCrumpet cold breakfast pizza is the food of champions

These threads always reveal the food Philistines.

DragonPie · 26/08/2020 13:09

I would have to warm it up sorry.

I am eating a leftover cold chicken leg though.

CantThinkOfAName92 · 26/08/2020 13:10

Yabu.... Nowt wrong with left overs. Nowt wrong with eating straight out of tupperwear.... But it would taste so much nicer heated up, the gravy goes so much runnier and yummy....mmmm

HijabiVenus · 26/08/2020 13:16

Im reminded of a Billy Connolly sketch when he is reading a cookery book at a National Trust shop whilst eating a scone. The article in the book by Lady Claire McDonald owner of a fanch Skye restuarant, what to do with left over venison and how it's such a nuisance to think of what to do with the leftover bits.

Well here we go! :)

CorrectileDysfunction · 26/08/2020 13:16

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit cold leftovers do not indicate philistinism. Outrageous!

Love the detail about the husband having a nice homemade sourdough cheese and tomato sandwich Grin fucks sake.

Hoppinggreen · 26/08/2020 13:30

Did OP grow the tomatoes herself?

FingersCrossedForAllOfUs · 26/08/2020 13:30

Fill your boots!.......But personally I really couldn’t eat something like that cold!

CorrectileDysfunction · 26/08/2020 13:35

@Hoppinggreen hahaha no but we did grow the potatoes and cook it in an Aga Grin Wink
