Aibu to keep my primary children off school this year?

I feel as though I am the only one considering this. I am a stay at home mom, I have the time to make this work.
Coronavirus isn't going anywhere, I know that, but I just don't feel comfortable sending my children to school. I feel like it would be the easy way, not the safe way. I just can't stop that feeling in my gut, that 'its not safe' feeling.

we were considering home education for this year anyway for a variety of reasons, but now September is almost here I am doubting myself.

I dont know what to do! is anyone else taking their children out of school? are most sending theirs back? how did you decide what to do?

Our family has lost a relative to cv this year and another was hospitalised so I am aware this may have skewed my thinking.

please be kind, I have cried every night for a week about this and every time I look at my children I am imaging them getting really ill. this situation is hitting me hard.

School is safe covid wise for kids and its also good for them. Home Ed if it's your preference but don't do it out of fear

You can’t possibly be the only one thinking this as there have been other threads on this site alone saying exactly the same thing, are the kids allowed an opinion or are they too young?

What nobody seems to be mentioning, and this is entirely the fault of the propaganda style information given daily by the government, is not only the risk to the staff, particularly teachers but the very real potential transmission of the virus by asymptomatic children to vulnerable family members at home!....We're both 72 and have been Special Guardians for our Great-Grandson since he was 3 months old, my husband has Bronchiectasis, a lung disorder which, although not life threatening at the moment, has caused a 20% loss of lung capacity, the virus could seriously impact on this and could be fatal, I have a medicated heart condition so we are both in the 'vulnerable' category, hence our extreme nervousness regarding the return to school....It's catch 22 as we do realise that our little chap is missing the benefit of socialising as well as being educated although he is academically very bright and constantly in the top 4 pupils in his class, BUT we have to prioritise and for us it's a no brainer..... if we should succumb to, or even be made incapacitated by the virus, he would have to deal with the trauma of losing the only home and carers/parents he has known and loved and who love him as if he were our own son....his little world would be turned upside down and honestly, the thought of that happening is simply unbearable!

Thank you for sharing OP. I am feeling anxious and frankly incredulous as term approaches - I am usually really happy go lucky but I just cannot believe the gung ho ness of it all, on such minimal information and the word of such a bunch of chancers?! keep thinking I must be missing something. My very sociable 5 year old will be starting y1 and is really looking forward to it. The WFH/2xchild wrangle/shielding combo has been mind-bending. I would really love to be glad about schools reopening but I am just freaked out and school has provided no information about how they are planning to avoid potential transmission in their tiny inner London footprint. My son gets big spooky chest infections every winter and my partner is asthmatic.

Safe covid wise- what does this mean? Sorry but I'm not at all reassured by the token 'safety measures'. Covid safe = bluster. No actual scientific meaning.
