I moved out at 18 in to a house share. I’ve never been back home since. My adult ds’s still live with though I’ve started talking to them about their plans to move out. I know it’s a lot more difficult these days.

  1. I’m 33 now. I’d say post 25 is more the norm these days.
DramaAlpaca · 24/08/2020 22:24

I moved out at 18 for university and never went back.

I've still got a 22 year old at home and two older ones who come and go depending what's going on in their lives. It's nice, I like having them around.

DrDreReturns · 24/08/2020 22:25

18 for university. Never properly lived at home again (only for summer holidays.)

Justmuddlingalong · 24/08/2020 22:25

16 years and 2 months.

Summersnearlyover · 24/08/2020 22:26

19 to move in with my boyfriend. Moved back to my parents for about 6 months when the relationship ended 5 years later.

Shodan · 24/08/2020 22:26

17, to a house share. I spent my 2nd year of sixth form in a really grotty house. Not something I wanted for my sons.

Ds1 has just moved out- he's 24. He only lives a couple of miles away though and pops in often.

StormBaby · 24/08/2020 22:26

I came home to bin bags full of my stuff on the lawn at 16 and a half. I got a job in a sales office and moved to outer London the next day to a shared house.

ShitUsername · 24/08/2020 22:27

17

OneFootintheRave · 24/08/2020 22:27

18, into a one bedroom flat in London that I shared with another girl I met at my Saturday job. She had one bedroom and I had the lounge as a bedroom. 50 % of my wages went on rent and then we had to pay for food and commuting but man, the freedom. My parents then retired abroad anyway so I've been self sufficient ever since.

whiteskittle · 24/08/2020 22:27

18 because I absolutely hated my sister Grin she’s my best friend now!!!

sbhydrogen · 24/08/2020 22:28
  1. I moved back when I was 30, moved out, and now me, DH and DD are back at home aged 32 🤣
Gillian1980 · 24/08/2020 22:28

18.... got on really well with parent but was just raring to get out there and be independent. My older brother did a lot of coming and going and left for good at 25 I think.

Beachbodylonggone · 24/08/2020 22:28

A week after I turned 17..
Under a black cloud. Relationship with dm never recovered..

Gertie75 · 24/08/2020 22:29

I lived at college during term time from 17 then at 20 bought my first house.

Lsquiggles · 24/08/2020 22:29

I moved out at 21 because I met my dp and we moved in together after 4 months

nokidshere · 24/08/2020 22:30

Just after I turned 17.

I was brought up in care and was 'turfed out' then and given £20 and left to my own devices.

OnceUponATimeInHollywood · 24/08/2020 22:31

20 into a rented flat. 30 now and own my own home. Never looked back.

Lyricallie · 24/08/2020 22:32

I was 21 turning 22. I lived at home for uni and then I moved to London for a job. Lived there for a couple of years before moving back to Scotland

Thelnebriati · 24/08/2020 22:33

17 to a house share. I've been homeless more times than I can remember and didn't own anything nice for over a decade.

WindsorBlues · 24/08/2020 22:34

22 for me 20 for both my siblings none of us went to Uni.

My parents had us very young so we'd all moved out and where completely independent before they'd even reached their 50s.

Furrydogmum · 24/08/2020 22:34

20, when I got married - had a mortgage on a do-er upper from age 18. My boys are 18 and 22 and welcome to stay as long as they need.. It was a lot easier to buy a house in 94!

M0mmyneedswine · 24/08/2020 22:35

17 in with then bf, then into flat on my own at 18 when we split

Akindelle · 24/08/2020 22:36
  1. I would have stayed longer but my mother was being unreasonable and I couldn’t cope with her any more.
IckleWicklePumperNickle · 24/08/2020 22:36

18 and now late 30's. Never moved back.

Littlecaf · 24/08/2020 22:37
