Just wondering how many actually believe that?

YABU = He is on a camping trip

YANBU = He is not on a camping trip

80s
Apparently he had to make a slight detour and pull over and set up camp, in the Highlands, as he was feeling a little sick. He had been on his way to a meeting in Nottinghill at the time.

Dreamersandwishers · 20/08/2020 19:20

I heard he was at Jura House, Inner Hebrides. A favourite of David Cameron’s apparently.

Pinkmakeupbag · 20/08/2020 19:24

I've no idea where he is and I don't really care.

But lots of posh people go camping. We are not posh but we do camp at some very very nice sites and they are full of well to do people with fancy tents, very expensive cars and brand new top of the range camper vans.

He probably is off somewhere in a fancy place with a night of some kind of camping fit in.

But camping isn't always slumming it.

Bananalanacake · 20/08/2020 19:25

Placemarking for the juicy goss.
No way would I go camping with a baby either. It's great when you're a couple on your own though.

Serin · 20/08/2020 19:26

Maybe Trump has given him a free stay at his Scottish resort while he sells him our NHS?
Personally I think Guantanamo Bay is too good for him.

merrymouse · 20/08/2020 19:26

I think the point is that all politicians now have to go through this charade of loving traditional U.K. holidays, however unlikely given their apparent preferences and resources.

It seems particularly unlikely that Johnson is taking what would normally be described as a camping holiday.

TheClitterati · 20/08/2020 19:26

Found him.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 20/08/2020 19:26

where will Boris plug in his hairdryer and styling tools in a tent?

Not to mention somewhere to keep his clothes looking pristine and not as if he'd fished them out of a sack destined for the tip/charity shop?

Sarahandco · 20/08/2020 19:27

He went to France, he thought it would be lovely this year without so many British holidayers

Mumratheevergiving · 20/08/2020 19:27

@AgeLikeWine

I am no fan of Johnson or his policies but he is entitled to take a holiday with whoever constitutes his family this year. I don’t give a fuck where he goes, as one assumes they have telephones and internet connections everywhere.
Don't worry Johnson manages to get away when he needs a break

www.vice.com/en_uk/article/7kzn3y/boris-johnson-holidays-coronavirus

of course that's his entitlement...

lljkk · 20/08/2020 19:28

My twitter doesn't have rumours about BJ.. I'm kind of fascinated how people have very different twitter feeds!

MagicSummer · 20/08/2020 19:29

I think he is still not well and that the whole experience has completely shaken him. Hopefully he will come back firing on all cylinders after a break. I am speaking as a staunch Conservative and wavering in my support of him, but just hope he will come back healthy.

VampireBill · 20/08/2020 19:30

It's Grouse season.

ginandbearit · 20/08/2020 19:33

I wonder why there have been no photos , official or otherwise...injunction ?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/08/2020 19:34

This is probably Boris's idea of camping!

I’m no fan of BJ but some of the comments on this thread are bordering on libellous.

Muminho · 20/08/2020 19:41

I can't abide the man but actually don't have a problem with him having a private holiday and I don't care where he goes and nor do I want to know or see photos of him.

What pisses me off is why do they lie and lie and lie? Obviously he's not camping, he'll be in a nice hotel and why not. It's like when he said his hobby was making buses out of wine crates. He knew he was lying, the interviewer knew, the listener knew ... why do it? Why not just say I like playing tennis. That's fine. It's the way they lie for the sake of it and everyone knows and apparently that's ok. Drives me mad!!

IveSeenThings · 20/08/2020 19:44

Personally, I'm not really sure the leader of a large country should be taking any holiday in the middle of an ongoing crisis.

underneaththeash · 20/08/2020 19:45

Poor bloke needs a holiday - there's a reason that we insist on F/T employees having 28 days a year holiday. You can't function properly without a break, especially with a new baby.

We did not handle the crisis that well - but then no other population dense country did. But it was something completely new, that we couldn't have foreseen. I doubt (especially given the level of grammar of their posts) that many of the PP could have done much better.

FatCatThinCat · 20/08/2020 19:57

I reckon he's B&Bing at prince Charles' gaff.

Peregrina · 20/08/2020 20:02

Oh come on, poor bloke needs a holiday. Insisting on 28 days holiday, it's been more like 28 days work with him with the rest being holiday.

donnatellme · 20/08/2020 20:02

No he isn't. Why are leaders in other countries, erm, leading? In a crisis, the leader shouldn't fuck off on holiday.

Peregrina · 20/08/2020 20:04

I think plenty of countries with dense populations have handled the crisis well - mostly in Asia. Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore....

Very well said and I also agree with AlternativePerspective

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 20/08/2020 20:10

People like that don't go camping for a solid week with a tiny baby in the weather we've had recently.

And if they did it would be glamping somewhere exclusive. Otherwise all and sundry would be going to the papers about how they were bickering when they were putting up the tent. Or being nosey at the cath kidson camping wear in the washing up section.

Or pictures of boris coming back from the shower. Or going to the toilet first thing in the morning
