To think our Prime Minister is not on a camping trip

Just wondering how many actually believe that?

YABU = He is on a camping trip

YANBU = He is not on a camping trip

He's gone back to the mothership to regenerate.

FinnyStory · 21/08/2020 08:32

@IpanemaSunshine

From your list Finnystory I’d say he’s bored with it all. Cummings is running things anyway.

And as if anyone, even Mail readers, are going to believe the bell tent story. If they are going to make things up, at least make it credible

Yes, it's clearly made up but I wasn't sure if it's a "spoof" created by the DM or something Dominic has fed them.
Pinkmakeupbag · 21/08/2020 09:00

Bloody hell I can't believe the DM have printed that tent story.

How stupid do they think the public are? Very by the looks of it.

Mumratheevergiving · 21/08/2020 09:04

‘The Mail tracks down holidaying PM at trendy bell tent with a cottage attached in Scotland’
Grin

It’s always quite a palaver packing for a camping trip, ‘Did you remember to put in the cottage attachment?’

toastmeahotcrossbun · 21/08/2020 09:40

Yes, I'm thinking about getting one of those tents with a cottage attached for my next camping trip

I actually love that daily mail article

Why do you love it stealthpolarbear ?

Just all the suggestions and sly little digs. Some thing about how he's camping near his stately second home in scotland (ie camping my arse). A list of the important things that have happened while he's been wiping his bum with nettles. That picture of him in the hat and ironed shirt. The utter ridiculousness of it all.

Sooo is he never supposed to take any annual leave or paternity leave? Do you not think after events of the last six months, including him being in ICU, he has every right to take a break? Do you think PMs should work 365 days a year?

OK then.

igot20joe · 21/08/2020 10:24

@eaglejulesk

He's on annual leave, to which he is perfectly entitled.

Really, in the middle of a pandemic and the associated economic crisis? The rest of the world's leaders seem to be doing the job they are paid to do - you know, leading their country in its time of need.

Don’t think for a second he won’t be taking calls, reading briefing papers etc, just because he’s not in London.
OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/08/2020 10:32

It is hilarious, they are trolling him.

How the hell does that cottage cost that much to rent per week?

Tanith · 21/08/2020 10:37

"Don’t think for a second he won’t be taking calls, reading briefing papers etc, just because he’s not in London."

He didn't do it while he was in London! Why would he do it on holiday?

See when you post ridiculous things like this it just makes you look daft! Patently you’re being ridiculous.
StealthPolarBear · 21/08/2020 10:46

I think he needs to lead. I accept that you think he should be on his hols, fine.

TinySleepThief · 21/08/2020 10:56

Even those arguing for his apparent right to a holiday (which is clearly not a right for all those who have had leave cancelled due to the pandemic) have got to wonder how much work he's actually capable of doing. Realistically whats the liklihood of there being super fast WiFi connection at a remote cottage.

SabrinaThwaite · 21/08/2020 10:57

I hope Boris has a little transistor radio tuned into Radio 4 so he could listen in to Bernard Jenkin sharpening the knives yesterday.

latticechaos · 21/08/2020 11:07

Johnson famously doesn't like having too much reading.

I really feel we are unlucky to have him at this time.

Presumably the party will replace him if his personal approval drops too low. He doesn't seem to have many real friends.

LakieLady · 21/08/2020 11:18

Rumour is he is staying at the Fairmont in St Andrews. If true, that is my kind of camping

In the fully serviced yurt. Grin

I hope they took Dilwyn. The thought of the PM's Jack Russell running amok on the golf course has made me Grin.

LakieLady · 21/08/2020 11:27

*I really hope he isn't staying in the tent shown in the Mail article shock.

That's the worst-put-up tent I've ever seen*

I'd say that strengthens the case that he's camping, tbh. There's no way the useless, lying pillock would be competent at putting up a tent properly.

LakieLady · 21/08/2020 11:31

Have we all forgotten he's had a baby that is now probably 4mths old and is in the sleep regression phase...

Perhaps he packs Carrie and the baby off to the tent when the baby cries, so he can get back to sleep without being disturbed.

Johnson hasn't exactly gone short of holidays this year has he? Caribbean trip for new year, Country house trip for a fortnight in February (missing all those boring Cobra meetings), multiple trips to Chequers for a spot of tennis.
Now "camping" in Scotland...

toastmeahotcrossbun · 21/08/2020 13:37

OK then.

He's hardly been working like a trojan the rest of the year though. Look at Sturgeon turning up every day for the briefings. We've seen him a handful of times. He did precisely nothing over the A level scandal.
He's been to the Caribbean for 2 weeks and yes the Feb half term and then seems to have been working part time since coronavirus if not before

My view is that he is entitled to leave but it is reported that he has already had at least two holidays this year and we are in the middle of a pandemic. In this situation I expect the PM to be providing visible leadership. I think this needs a little more than a couple of Twitter messages.

C130 · 21/08/2020 14:31

The man is a lazy, uninterested clown. He has fallen so short of what is expected to be a decent leader of the Country, in my eyes. He should of stepped down after he left hospital. The man is useless as PM.
