My take home pay is £1300 per month. DP earns £2500. He does have lots to pay out, ie maintenance amongst other commitments he can't get out of.
He pays tv bill and £800 rent. I have 3 children who live with us. I pay all food and all other bills. Eldest has started working, just turned 18 so pays £30 per week rent which I put towards food.
Does this seem fair to everyone? I'm curious what others think.

@Cattoddleruprising if op is in receipt of UC/HB she doesn't lose it for her son being 18, it will be reassessed. Given ops take home is £1300 a month I'd think she does receive something.

I know, she potentially would have lost the child element, child benefit and maybe some of her housing. Plus the council tax discount. So it isn’t up to the partner to make up the difference if it was going to reduce anyways

But there are still 2 other eligible children so she wouldn't have lost much.

OP how much benefits have you actually lost on declaring DP being in your house?

CatToddlerUprising · 21/08/2020 15:18

The child element would have been about £280 a month, child benefit £84 every 4 weeks and housing deduction about £60 a month (child element and housing based on UC). Plus council tax reduction stopping possibly
