What's your dream job?

I work in theatres (neuro) and it's good but I do worry about still being in this role when I retire! I like it but it's so stressful, on calls nearly every week, you have to be there within 30 mins day or night, angry surgeons etc etc. I think I'll wait until my husband gets his next big promotion up to 150k and I don't have to contribute my wages and then retrain. This is an agreed plan of action, he wants me to be happy and I'm so lucky I've got him.

So what would you retrain as? Or what is your dream job? I've been an odp for so long now I can't even think!

Commercial Pilot. I took flying lessons and was well on my way to getting my PPL, but I realised that for various reasons I was never going to get a CAA Class 1 medical certificate, so my aviation career was to be on the ground, not in the air.

britnay · 19/08/2020 18:30

photographer or lego designer

Me too. I'm a reading teacher and I have to rein myself in!

SAHM, but if I must work I quite fancy being a florist (for weddings etc, not high street)

Confusedpixo · 19/08/2020 18:36

Yoga therapist for children and adults with special needs, mental health issues and ptsd. I'd have my own little home studio in a beautiful big house next to the sea surrounded by animals.

Adventurer/writer/marketer

I work in PR and marketing and generally love my career choice. I do adventure/sport type activities on my weekends and I've got a blog to feed my writing habits away from work!

Overall, my main objective is to work for myself from my home.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 19/08/2020 18:54

My dream job is to be a doctor (specifically a psychiatrist!) Currently part way through my medical training! Grin

notmyyacht · 19/08/2020 18:54

broadway actress or akc (dog show) professional handler.

in actuality i'm a dog groomer and i actually already show my dogs (and occasionally show for other people, mostly friends for free) so i guess the latter isn't too far of a stretch but can't sing or dance like, at all so i'll definitely never be on broadway! 😂

Perro · 19/08/2020 18:54

Photographer and edgy art gallery owner

HotSauceCommittee · 19/08/2020 18:56

I've just started the training as a police staff investigator after working my way up for six years.
I am now 48 and never dreamed I could have such an interesting career with such progression when the kids got older in my 40's.
I am nosy and have a lot of energy for this job, and a lot of belief in what my force do and strive for. I am still in a state of disbelief and try to "recruit" others.

HotSauceCommittee · 19/08/2020 18:57

I sound like an evangelical Christian.

MrsBungle · 19/08/2020 18:59

I’d love to have been a pilot or a wedding dress shop owner.

SimonJT · 19/08/2020 19:00

Rugby player, I did get there, but as the pay is crap it had to be my second job so I had to drop down to playing semi professional a couple of years ago. I always knew it wasn’t a sensible choice as its a short lived career, at 32 I maybe have 3/4 years left at my current level.

When I was about 9 I wanted to be batman, not sure why that career path didn’t work 🤷🏽‍♂️
