About the stinky cheese (lighthearted)

DH (French) likes super stinky cheese. I roll with it usually, because there’s a limit to Sainsbury’s selections, but he’s found a specialist shop to indulge him, and it is unbearable.
Honest to god, it smells like feet and farts in the kitchen these days. No keeping it in the fridge to limit the stink as that is unacceptable.
I, otoh, feel divorce is an acceptable option. Thoughts?

Do you have a garage? Maybe he could get a mini fridge and keep his cheese in there.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/08/2020 19:13

Double bag and then encase in Tupperware. Maybe two nesting Tupperwares.

LittleBearPad · 16/08/2020 19:15

Tupperware will help - doubling up is probably not a bad plan!

We have an evil cheese in our fridge at the moment. Opening it has to be approached with care

Toilenstripes · 16/08/2020 19:19

Bury it in the garden?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/08/2020 19:22

Ooooooooh. I love cheese which smells like it should be walking out of the fridge by itself!

I use jars for storage.

cameocat · 16/08/2020 19:22

Or bury him in the garden? (With the cheese)

JontyDoggle37 · 16/08/2020 19:24

You need one of these- a cheese dome: www.procook.co.uk/product/procook-cheese-cake-dome-large?fo_c=1344&fo_k=c4bd9673670d4ae11d477cfb64b5a2b8&fo_s=gplauk&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI04qI6aug6wIVYIBQBh0U_A52EAQYBCABEgKEb_D_BwE
In response to your AIBU divorce is only appropriate if he won’t use the cheese dome/tupperware

MiddleClassProblem · 16/08/2020 19:24

Would he like to join DH and I in a polygamous cheese loving marriage?

Must like dogs. Sex not included.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/08/2020 19:28

Can i have the name of the supplier and do they deliver?Blush

AdaColeman · 16/08/2020 19:29

My lovely French fridge had a special cheese compartment.

YABU if you get to share the cheese.

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/08/2020 19:29

YABU
Stinky cheese is the best cheese.

MiddleClassProblem · 16/08/2020 19:42

We had a few in lockdown. One from Neal’s yard and a couple from the Fine Cheese Co.

MiddleClassProblem · 16/08/2020 19:43

Both delivered x

Soubriquet · 16/08/2020 19:45

I hate stinky cheese

I work as a picker in a supermarket and my god some people eat stinky cheese Envy

It’s worse now we have to bag things, as the smell wafts out everytime you open the bag.

roarfeckingroarr · 16/08/2020 19:55

YABU! You can't refrigerate decent cheese

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 16/08/2020 20:17

@JontyDoggle37 - that cheese dome won't stop the smell unless you connect it to a kitchen extractor fan - and, from the picture, it doesn't appear to have an outlet for that.
However I think this could be an untapped market for a ventilation company...

bananafish · 16/08/2020 20:53

@SchrodingersImmigrant Paxton and Whitfield, I didn’t tell you...

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/08/2020 20:57

😁 Never heard of you @bananafish

Thank you

bananafish · 16/08/2020 20:58

I may try the packaging options but I suspect he won’t agree.
When we go to his parents, they have the most pungent cheese under a dome thingy: no flies but full stench 🤦🏽‍♀️

CherieBabySpliffUp · 16/08/2020 21:11

I voted YABU and feel sorry for your DH.
He should be allowed to indulge his love of sticky cheese in peace Grin

CherieBabySpliffUp · 16/08/2020 21:12

stinky 🤦‍♂️

Lincslady53 · 16/08/2020 21:42

My sister lives in the Charente. On a visit last year, she bought some Epoisses cheese, a bit like a Camembert crosses with Drinking Bishop. Not was it good. Tried to find it over here with no joy so far, but can recommend it.

Lincslady53 · 16/08/2020 21:43

That should have said crossed with Stinking Bishop.

Elouera · 16/08/2020 21:45

At least its not the Sardinian live maggot cheese!!! Shock

nocoolnamesleft · 16/08/2020 21:46

Mmm, they've got a good selection. But I already have a rather substantial collection of cheese (some rather smelly) thanks to a recent online deli purchase.
