not a thread about a thread, i saw on another thread someone telling the op to 'move out. now' over a minor inconvenience with her dhHmm aibu to think people on here are unnecessarily dramatic?

OP posts:

And who are these people always taking the moral high ground and telling others off for being ‘judgey’. People come on AIBU and ask to be judged by posing the question AIBU and then some self righteous drone turns up and tells everyone to stop judging. What do they do when they read OPs post or listen to hear anyone speak about anything in life? Switch off the ‘judgey’ switch and erase all consciousness at once and only process process sounds and words like a robots? Of course they don’t. Weirdos.

slashlover · 19/08/2020 00:52

People who post on AIBU asking a 'preference' question. AIBU to like/dislike this TV show/song/book/film? Well, it's an opinion so of course not, but you end up with people telling the OP that she is BU to like a certain food.

Also, yes to people treating certain posts like a soap opera. Any updates OP? Where is the OP? (generally if the OP hasn't posted for an hour) What happened OP? ESPECIALLY posting a full stop or 'blatant placemarking Wink'.

Also, posting titles such as "AIBU to think that...", "What would you do about...", "To dislike this?" Just put what it is in the title! Most of the time I open the thread and it's something I'm not interested in.

'I have undiagnosed x'

Why don't you go and get x diagnosed by a medical professional thus gaining access to treatment instead of just claiming you have something?

Agree that is ridiculous when people say that.

I remember reading a thread years ago where the poster insisted she had an undiagnosed sleep disorder. She said her GP had referred her to a specialist who had said there was no sleep disorder.

Turned out the sleep disorder was that she stayed up all night gaming and then couldn't get up in the morning when she was meant to, and she couldn't hold down a job. But instead of thinking she had lost her job through not being a responsible adult and making a decision to switch the Xbox off at a sensible hour, it was definitely a conspiracy by the NHS to refuse to treat her.

Particularly annoying. I've been seeing a married man for two years. He has two children and his wife is pregnant. But he tells me the marriage is over and I'm the one. I'm devastated at how she could be so selfish. Please no judgement.

I get frustrated on threads posted by people who hate the idea of strangers shitting in their toilet. Does their shit smell more gross than your own? Really??

PhilSwagielka · 19/08/2020 09:49

That stupid WAP thread. Christ, the pearl clutching.

@Handsoffisback

The single thing that genuinely drives me wild on here is people not answering the front door. It really gives me the rage and I need to get over it 😂 I just find it ludicrous that people will sit there with someone banging on the door and act so annoyed that someone came round without first sending a text/telegram/pigeon carrier 3 years in advance.
I know, that one annoys me more than it should as well. And the fact that it's always explained by "I'm an introvert", itself the most overused and misunderstood concept since every garden variety twat having actual Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Being introverted does not mean being unable to open the front door to take a parcel. If it's a salesperson and you're not interested, learn to say "no thank you" and shut the door.

Mittens030869 · 19/08/2020 09:53

I'm also remembering the thread about the OP's 10 year old DD running up and down her street first thing in the morning. What dramatics! Apparently the OP should worry that her DD was doing a drugs deal or gone to meet a man who had groomed her online. 10 year olds are too young to be out on their own at all apparently. Shock

PhilSwagielka · 19/08/2020 09:59

Wtf has being an introvert got to do with opening the door? Unless you're so shy that any human contact scares you. I'm an introvert and if it's a chugger or whatever, I make my excuses and shut the door.

Mittens, I remember that thread and people were freaking out. Like, good on her for wanting to exercise. I thought kids going outdoors was a GOOD thing.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/08/2020 10:03

Do you sometimes worry that people read MN and judge all the women by what they see here?👀

See I find the people who are annoyed by this more tiresome than the people who do it.

Nobody ever knocks on my door that I have any need to speak to without me knowing they were coming ie. Parcels/takeaway (and family and friends obviously). It's always a sales person, so a lot of the time if I'm busy I just treat it like a phone call from an unknown number and ignore it. It's not because I'm scared, I just don't feel like talking to a stranger about something I have no interest in. Obviously if they were genuinely banging on the door or kept trying I'd answer as it would seem more likely it could be an emergency if they didn't just leave after knocking once.

Personally I don't understand the overzealous obsession with everyone opening their doors every time someone knocks.

Yes definitely!!
AlternativePerspective · 19/08/2020 10:20

Did anyone see the thread from the OP who wanted to lie about her DS’s birthday as she was taking him to a theme park on his 3rd birthday and that was the time tickets would go from child to adult?

People accusing the OP of theft, saying this was a slippery slope, how she was teaching her child that it was ok to descend into a life of crime.. it was hilarious.

AlternativePerspective · 19/08/2020 10:21

And the one where an OP was ripped apart for admitting she didn’t love her dog as much as she loved her children....

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 19/08/2020 10:26

It was hilarious, they had him selling drugs and shoplifting and in jail by the age of 6 because of it. They never lied to their children either, which is a lie in itself unless Santa is actually real 😂😂

Theres a thread just now where the op read out the calories of a baguette to her dh, and now someone has diagnosed her with ASD based on this Confused

DillonPanthersTexas · 19/08/2020 10:29

Usually when I hear MN being discussed in public it is in fairly derogatory terms. I found the place via IVF Google searches and found the forums very helpful. Sadly the AIBU and relationship boards are the 'shop window' for the wider site and you can't exactly deny there are some proper batshit people dispensing 'advice' that is laughable bad.

FluffyKittensinabasket · 19/08/2020 10:34

During peak Covid19, there was one post where two people were trying to outdo each other with “sobbing and shaking” because one of them went to a supermarket to buy a chocolate bar. They worked themselves into a frenzy of anxiety before the post was deleted.

I think all the posters who were accusing people of being Covid murderers have name changed...

AlternativePerspective · 19/08/2020 10:44

And the ones who claimed that bread is not an essential...

Mind you, there a thread on here at the moment where OP is looking for some advice to manage finances, and someone has suggested that she stop buying milk or juice and that instead the family should drink only water. Grin

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 19/08/2020 11:31

The ones where people say their child is being bullied for having red hair are interesting.

People start competing with each other over who is more devastated that their child didnt have red hair and end up insulting their own kids hair colour.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/08/2020 11:40

"my 'secretive' teen has friends who are couple years older and wants to go on a day cycling"
"County lines"
...

CrustyNupple · 19/08/2020 12:03

Basically any Coronavirus thread is full of dramatics. People frantically washing shopping, cooking their parcels in the oven and stripping their clothes as soon as they walk through the door.

boltzmannbrains · 19/08/2020 13:02

”County lines"

Yes - if you live in a county with very low crime rates but a neighbouring county contains high crime areas, you’re probably a human trafficker and the police should definitely pull you over using the psychic powers that tell them what county you’re from before they’ve even checked. Grin
