not a thread about a thread, i saw on another thread someone telling the op to 'move out. now' over a minor inconvenience with her dhHmm aibu to think people on here are unnecessarily dramatic?

OP posts:

It's not just on here. I am convinced some people have got an attention disorder or something. Every single thing has to be loud or dramatic and attention seeking. I don't want to know or more importantly, care what you are doing/going to do/what you have/what you going to buy/have friends around etc. It's insufferable and boring

Vodkacranberryplease · 24/08/2020 12:56

Oh haha a practice run? For the school run. At 6.30 am??? A gem indeed.

Thank you, feels good to be appreciated :D oh, and am over the moon with joy!
KatherineofTarragon · 24/08/2020 13:27

@TheSunIsStillShining There are two other gems on that paticular thread..

"I found an unopened yoghurt in the garden when I pegged the washing out.what a waste! "

And..

"What if the two year old had found that yoghurt and eaten it, gone off? Now you have to decide if this is how you want your life to be. "

TheSunIsStillShining · 24/08/2020 13:37

@KatherineofTarragon

Oh yes!! :D

Truzza · 24/08/2020 14:01

This thread is great! I do often read threads on mn and when I put my phone down I always shake my head sigh and say "Jesus they are all batshit crazy" 😂😂😂

Vodkacranberryplease · 24/08/2020 18:35

There's a great MIL one at the mo! Blow by blow of how crazy MIL wanted newborn for overnights and puts baby's hands in her mouth (ugh) plus plays pass the parcel with baby. OP is standing strong though!

But MN is divided with most thinking they are equally crazy. I love a mumzills thread. Though I usually refrain from commenting... too dangerous! Grin

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 24/08/2020 23:20

On the telly addicts thread about swingers

'I was just eating my dinner and happened to put it on.Now most of the dinner is in the bin as the bile was rising' Unlikely

SchrodingersImmigrant · 25/08/2020 10:57

@TheSunIsStillShining

I found another gem:

"I woke up at 6.30. my plan was to have a cuppa. Have a shower. Practice the school run as next week it's Showtime."

Of course the poster is all about anxiety and stuff. Even if there is an issue, this sentence is just OTT dramatic :)

😂 Only reason why I had practice run to school when I was a baby was so I wouldn't get lost after the first day😂

We start school at 6 and went by ourselves from day 2 (some took few weeks).

I am absolutely terrified to be moving houses

Absolutely terrified!

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 29/08/2020 00:45

Just read that very amusing 😂 some people on here must actual cry when they wake up, wondering what terrible thing will befall them!

seayork2020 · 29/08/2020 00:45

I find it weird when the replies are dramatic (made up example)

Post - My friend won a million and wont give me half because I gave them a lift once

Omg how dare they you should have all of it

95% of the replies think the op has lost the plot but there is always 'cant you see the op is struggling'

Vodkacranberryplease · 30/08/2020 11:46

I'm on a mask thread. Well I was. We all know how those threads go Grin.

Fuck me. The hysteria. The time spent thinking of reasons to be upset instead of just sorting it out. It's People Power. Now if only they spent that much energy on making money they could afford to do what the fuck they want.

I literally can't watch any more 😮

Vodkacranberryplease · 30/08/2020 11:47

@SchrodingersImmigrant I forgot to thank you for the flat thread. Which has given me great amusement. You learn something new every day.

Vodkacranberryplease · 30/08/2020 11:49

@BadLad sorry I mean thank you for the flat thread! I hope you're not offended or traumised!

KatherineofTarragon · 31/08/2020 16:48

Pram search thread:

"I’m honestly finding it overwhelming!! "

TheSunIsStillShining · 01/09/2020 17:53

Slightly off topic
I find the "who pays for what/what % in a family" weird. Never before coming to the uk have i heard families having so separate financials.

And on most threads like this one main reasoning is that in case of divorce ... It's like becoming a family (living together, having kids, buying house,...) is a middle thing between being single and then divorced. As if ppl were actually planning divorce when they move in together. (hope you get what I'm trying to say)

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/09/2020 10:09

My parents had separate finances (not in the uk) and so do my husband and I. But I find it odd when people count everything to the last penny so it's 50-50 or 60-40 or whatever.
We just said: Ok I pay TV licence, mortgage, insurance and x y z and you pay leccy, gas, water, and a b c. It works out approximately the same. Whoever goes shopping pays the shopping🤷🏻
Can't imagine sitting here and calculating exact amounts.
Oooh! Maybe that's that life admin I've been missing😂

TheSunIsStillShining · 02/09/2020 10:49

@SchrodingersImmigrant
You just cracked the baffling life admin!!! :)

I get the separate accounts - we have them as both employers wanted one in our exact name for payroll, but we don't split costs.
What's leccy?

I did it! I cracked it! 😂

Leccy - electricBlush I like the sound of it, he.

PopcornAndWine · 02/09/2020 11:17

@TheSunIsStillShining I kind of feel the opposite - any thread I have ever followed about finances I am made to feel completely weird for not pooling everything. We do it the same way @SchrodingersImmigrant does it and it works for us. Different things work for different families but I do find it irritating how many people who talk about pooling will finish by saying "Of course, we are a team" or similar. DH and I are no less of a team because we manage finances differently!

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 02/09/2020 11:30

Get yourself a SHL and get on the freedom programme. RIGHT. NOW.

I think you are right about the team sentiment and it's not fair. I am sorry if I ever made such a comment (really don't know if I did).

I like to think that I am more mindful than the general population (coming from an analyst background) and find it good if I get called out on a bias that I'm not even aware of - so it's not coming from a place of thinking.

PopcornAndWine · 02/09/2020 13:49

@TheSunIsStillShining ah no definitely wasn't aimed at you specifically - just something I have noticed! Totally agree about the need to challenge our own biases, something far too few people do these days Smile
