To call out doctor/ambulance

Tonight we had neighbours round, all outdoors etc. At some point H vanishes. Ask kids, they say he is in the loo. He is an introvert so I

assume he has gone to bed as this is normal.

Wave people off. Go inside to discover H unconscious and shivering behind bathroom door. He may have been there 2 hrs. Had to force my way in. Got him into bed, no fever. After some water seems ok, but messed up and confused. I wanted to call 999/111 but he refused.

Kids are petrified. Should I insist he sees a doctor?

Hope he's OK. Yes please call someone. He may insist he's OK but that's not normal what happened to him. Sometimes people need others to step in when they are being a risk to themselves eg not seeking medical attention when needed

FortunesFave · 15/08/2020 03:36

This is how my friend's DH was when he had sepsis. He almost died.

He kept saying he was ok...then she went out to work and when she got home he was talking rubbish and had messed himself.

Ambulance came and he refused to go and they left!

He was in intensive care for weeks and lost his toes.

Catandkittens · 15/08/2020 03:55

Nurse here. Call for help and do it now.

annie987 · 15/08/2020 04:08

I hope you’ve called someone for advice and are getting some help.
Hope he makes a speedy recovery

WiltedWillows · 15/08/2020 04:13

He was unconscious but refused?

TalkingOutOfMyBottom · 15/08/2020 04:14

I hope OP's silence means she has got help now.

nocoolnamesleft · 15/08/2020 04:16

Really hope he's being checked over by now.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/08/2020 04:22

Just seen your thread. I hope your dh is ok!

oceanbreezy · 15/08/2020 04:29

I wouldve taken him to hospital. I suspect 111 would send an ambulance?

Honeybeexo · 15/08/2020 04:32

Think she’s name changed and started another thread

latticechaos · 15/08/2020 04:32

Glad you're ringing for advice, any episode of unconsciousness should be checked.

FabulouslyGlamourousFerret · 15/08/2020 04:35

@TitsOutForHarambe

YABU not to have called 999 as soon as you found him

This!

Annist · 15/08/2020 05:09

Finding an unconscious person is 999 not 111....

BumbleBeeeeeee · 15/08/2020 05:29

This sounds like sepsis. I hope you've got some help now

Newnamenewopenme · 15/08/2020 07:00

Did you call them and is he ok now?

AlwaysCheddar · 15/08/2020 07:10

Jeez.... unconscious and you don’t call an ambulance! Hope he’s okay now.

Tini17 · 15/08/2020 07:13

Goodness me. Loss of consciousness is a 999 call, no point faffing with 111. Why would people suggest that?
Hope you did get an ambulance out and that he’s ok.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 15/08/2020 07:14

Oh goodness. I hope you've called now. That should have been 999 immediately.

niceupthedance · 15/08/2020 07:23

I would have called 999. Hope you did get some medical advice.

LioneIRichTea · 15/08/2020 07:24

Completely agree. I’ve just read all posts and was Shock at the number of people recommending 111

Hope everything is ok OP?

Bobbiepin · 15/08/2020 07:28

Hope he's ok OP.

Nixen · 15/08/2020 07:33

I can’t believe that anyone’s immediate response to finding someone collapsed unconscious wouldn’t be to phone 999?!

I hope you did get him the help he clearly needs

Reedwarbler · 15/08/2020 07:35

If I found my husband unconscious and shivering on the floor I really don't think my first thought would be to go on mumsnet and ask for advice because I didn't know what to do. The world has gone mad.

Kittykat93 · 15/08/2020 07:37

@Reedwarbler - totally agree. Who doesn't know to get medical help for something like this??

FippertyGibbett · 15/08/2020 08:24

This. I was unsure what to have for lunch yesterday and did consider coming on here 😉
