I've been on MN a while now but don't really understand the meaning of the emoj's that people use. Mainly the yellow flower, bouquet of flowers, the bottle and the chocolate although there are others too. What do they signify and are they mostly meant to be sarcastic? Genuine question.

Only the Biscuit is sarcastic.

The rest are what you think they are.

Mammyloveswine · 12/08/2020 20:47

The yellow flower was during the teacher bashing threads..

The bouquet is just nice.

gingganggooleywotsit · 12/08/2020 21:07

I thought the yellow flower was meant to be a jammy dodger biscuit!

BrandoraPaithwaite · 12/08/2020 21:11

Biscuit This is a biscuit, and it means "Well, what you just said takes the biscuit" which means, very sarcastically, you get the prize for the most outrageous comment of the day. It means another poster was out of order.
People say.. here have my first Biscuit sometimes.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 12/08/2020 21:13

Daffodilis this the yellow flower? No idea what that means.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 12/08/2020 21:14

Archers This is meant to be the pub sign for The Bull, the fictional pub in the Archers. I did once know but I have forgotten why that one was created.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 12/08/2020 21:15

Envycan mean green with envy or, more usually you will see Envy- not envy! meaning I have a green face now because someone posted something gross and I feel sick

Gin is in memory of a much-loved poster called Zombie, who died of breast cancer.

That's not what it means.
Bezzi · 12/08/2020 22:01

🍘 I used to see this one loads on MN. Haven't seen it for a while. I never knew what it meant or even what it's a picture of

That's terribly sad about Zombie but what does the bottle actually mean when people use it now on threads?
OP posts:
SatanicDesk · 12/08/2020 22:05

I didn’t know that about the Gin link... when I’ve used it or seen it deployed I’ve used/interpreted as “have some gin”. (I’ve only been on here a couple of years tho)

Bbq1 · 12/08/2020 22:06

@strawberryplanting what does the biscuit mean for you?

Hmm
icelollycraving · 12/08/2020 22:13

I thought the gun just got introduced because we were all gin guzzling at the time and nagged mnhq. Didn’t realise it was related to poor Zombie,
Flowers are genuinely meant as a bit of kindness.
Biscuit usually means you’re talking bollocks/ not falling for it/ nice try gf (goady fucker)
Hmm is my favourite.

Gin not gun ShockBlush

SatanicDesk · 12/08/2020 22:22

Daffodil was used by teachers, I believe, in solidarity of each other on any perceived teacher bashing threads (saw a lot of Daffodil in the earlier parts of covid re “lack of zoom classes” type threads etc & someone else started a thread to ask what Daffodil meant & that was the answer) Not sure if that’s the original meaning?

killerofmen · 12/08/2020 23:29

I think the Daffodil was introduced because the Welsh were revolting.
