To ask what the emoji's mean on MN?

I've been on MN a while now but don't really understand the meaning of the emoj's that people use. Mainly the yellow flower, bouquet of flowers, the bottle and the chocolate although there are others too. What do they signify and are they mostly meant to be sarcastic? Genuine question.

The biscuit originated when Gordon Brown did the web chat and refused to answer what was then a standard question , "what is your favourite biscuit". So it meant 'no comment'.
