To be completely bored of the constant coverage of Harry and Meghan

It's just too much! Way too much media focus on a them and all their drama. There's a global pandemic, explosions, oil spills etc. etc. etc. There are so many more important things going on in the World than a bunch of over-priviledged plebs and their family drama. It's not interesting, it's not relevant to the rest of the World and it's not in any way beneficial to anyone to keep speculating about them. I get that some people may find it interesting but so interesting it dominates headlines for months on end?!?

I should point out, I'm moaning about the media's obsession rather than them as an individual couple; whilst I'm not a fan of theirs by any stretch, it's the ridiculous number of articles I've seen about them across different news sites that's bugging me. Surely there's not that much to say about them?!

MouthBreathingRage · 12/08/2020 11:02

could just find her privileged and a moaner and complainer and not be remotely racist.

Can you tell us precisely what her 'privilege' is and why that means she should be vilified in the press without complaint?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 11:03

'Why say 'whine'? Why not just say 'talk' about their feelings? To me, that means whatever you say will have the DM spin on it.'

Because that is what it sounds like when surrounded by people who have endured hardship and devastation to then whine about how tough they are finding things. There's a time and a place, lots of events that discussing their own mental health would have been appropriate.

Must you refer to the DM for everything, you could try The Express or The Sun? They're all the same y'know.

Roussette · 12/08/2020 11:04

No moving you on that one then. Agree the DM Express and Sun are of a similar ilk.

CallmeAngelina · 12/08/2020 11:06

@Tonp

They’re trying to distract you from the business of other royals. It says a lot how the media are treating Meghan compared to Andrew.
The coverage I've seen is just as much about Harry as Meghan.
CallmeAngelina · 12/08/2020 11:08

@Snaleandthewhail

YABU for mostly sticking to the Telegraph and the Daily Mail site for your sources of news. At least try somewhere with a slightly different perspective and better attitude towards women.
The Guardian and the Times have both had commentaries on the book in the last day or two.
Roussette · 12/08/2020 11:08

Was there 17 articles about PAndrew in yesterday's DM then? This is so so not true.

MouthBreathingRage · 12/08/2020 11:08

@GetOffYourHighHorse, they were lead into talking about it. More to the point people can talk about more than one subject at the same time. You're making it a race to the bottom and scraping the barrel whilst there trying to excuse why people and the media 'dislike' MM.

bendybarbarabee · 12/08/2020 11:15

What a great idea when you’re sick of something, to start a thread talking about that exact thing Grin

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 11:16

Can anyone defend allowing friends to release all this one sided private information when they would sue anyone for breach of privacy usually?

How hurt must the Queen and all the RF feel to hear they weren't welcoming when at the time H and M raved about the warm welcome she had received?

Don't you think it's an own goal, confirming many people's low opinion of them?

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 12/08/2020 11:17

There's not been enough to feed new developments to feed our need for gossip since then and the guy has been lying low
There have been a few stories about PA recently. I think the story of Virginia Roberts Guiffre describing him as being a foot fetishist, if true, is going to be ringing alarm bells with Fergie. I think she will know, from what was described, whether he had sex with VRG. (I don't know if this has come up before. If was certainly the first-time I'd read that detail).

Roussette · 12/08/2020 11:19

How hurt must the Queen and all the RF feel to hear they weren't welcoming when at the time H and M raved about the warm welcome she had received?

I don't think they are talking about the initial welcome.

Many people don't have a low opinion of them

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 12/08/2020 11:29

Can you tell us precisely what her 'privilege' is and why that means she should be vilified in the press without complaint?
If you are asking me, no, I cannot tell you what her privilege is , if indeed she is privileged. I was just quoting @daisystone's view in my response and stating it isn't necessarily racist. I wasn't stating my view. Perhaps ask daisystone directly.

My view is that there are a few topics I am heartily sick of seeing in a collection of papers and one is H&M. I wish they would just go and live in total obscurity and enjoy their private lives if that is what they want to do.
I also wish Epstein and Maxwell and co and Covid-19 weren't in the papers (or rather that the things had never happened so papers didn't have to report on them) but, hey ho, such is life.

daisystone · 12/08/2020 11:33

Reading this thread it really does make a lot of assumptions. Harry is as bad as Meghan. They are both moaners. Yes she is bi-racial/mixed race. That does not make the slightest bit of difference. I watched the royal wedding, thought it was lovely (not a royalist but still like to watch a big 'do') and wished them well, but it has gradually gone downhill from there. It appears that they are not satisfied whatever they have. Get involved with a charity - not satisfied move on. Move out of London to Windsor to get away and spend a fortune of taxpayers money - not satisfied and move on. Don't want to be part of the Royal Family because they don't like the intrusion or having to carry out certain duties so move to Canada - not satisfied and move on. Go to California (not exactly a private place for people who don't want any attention) and then are involved in a book about their private life. It is beyond annoying. They are beyond annoying.

I am not going to get a flight to L.A and punch either of them in the face so you can calm down and stop getting your knickers in a twist. Not sure how to throw a punch anyway - maybe box their ears.....

CallmeAngelina · 12/08/2020 11:58

@LaurieMarlow

Bollocks. Where did all the detail come from about first dates and first holidays then?

It’s written by journos who followed them through the years. They’re not getting profits, no.

How many journos were present during her 'warrior pose' in Africa? Or in his cottage at KP when he gestured her to go first "on the short walk from the sitting room?"
CallmeAngelina · 12/08/2020 12:04

it's almost like MM's feelings don't count. If she says how she feels she is moaning and complaining
Leaving aside the 'punch in the face' part (which was uncalled for), it's not that her feelings don't count, it's that people feel it was particularly insensitive for her to choose the tail end of an otherwise highly successful tour of parts of Africa suffering extreme poverty and inequality to air those feelings.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite

I know what will be trotted out will be... but he kept his head down. No he didn't. He gave a self entitled carcrash of an interview that forced him to shut up. Until then the was carrying on as normal.
This is what H&M have done - carried on as normal until giving tacit approval for this book (the equivalent of Andrew's car crash interview and the equivalent of Diana's car crash interview

You might want to rethink your last sentence unless you're totally insensitive.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 12:18

'they were lead into talking about it. More to the point people can talk about more than one subject at the same time'

Oh dont be so naive. The African documentary moan about themselves would have been entirely scripted. It was like a scene from a TV drama. Pure cheese. 'Its not enough just to survive something.. you've got to thrive ' said in a country full of people actually struggling to 'just survive'.

EdithWeston · 12/08/2020 12:20

I've been wondering what she's been doing wth the National Theatre since March.

It was a very important patronage to be given (definitely a mark of approval from the Queen) and its sector that has been badly hit by the pandemic. I'm a bit surprised that there seems to be nothing happening

Lifeandjoy · 12/08/2020 12:26

There’s no hope for bigotry. Oh, it’s not racism. It’s legitimate criticism of Meghan who happens to be the worse human being currently on the planet. Yeah right.

One thing I’m sure of, one day a light will be shone on this and Britain will be made to confront this shameful behaviour towards this woman.

Lifeandjoy · 12/08/2020 12:28

Keep telling yourself it has nothing to do with her race but reasonable people all around the world are fed up to their back teeth with this nonsense. Times are changing and times must change. This poisonous must be confronted. Thankfully the tide is turning in the right direction.

CallmeAngelina · 12/08/2020 12:28

@Lifeandjoy, How do you know the ethnicity of anyone on here that you're calling racist?

Toptotoeunicolour · 12/08/2020 12:31

All the posters going on about 'it's not because of her race!' have still not explained why she is so intensely disliked, with evidence of what she has done to ignite such negativity towards her.
Jeez I really think I don't care but it's a slow day so I'll bite...
She has dumped her sick elderly father, sat sulkily at Wimbledon having had all the plebs from all around her removed, lacks the grace to invite any of her family to her wedding apart from her mother, put Oprah where her family should've been sitting (implies social climbing extraordinaire), denied her own mixed race heritage for a long time, flew on private jets whilst asserting eco credentials, spends unnecessarily extortionate amounts of tax payer money on clothes, flew all the way to South Africa to highlight the conditions of the people there but only managed to moan about how no-one asks how she is in spite of having staff to help with the baby, gets through said staff at a fairly brisk pace, allows taxpayer money to be spent refurbishing her home and paying for her wedding without any sense of duty or payback, spent the Disney premier touting for work when he should have been at a long standing prior engagement in honour of army vets. The whole idea that they can set up a foundation to serve charities and cream off some money for themselves to live their very expensive lifestyles.
None of this has anything to do with her race. It's because people genuinely dislike her, if they are interested enough to pay any attention whatsoever. They dislike him these days too for exactly the same reasons. If he was like this before, it was certainly less noticeable. Both privileged hypocritical moaners.
Yes they are seeking attention. They almost definitely colluded on this wretched book that has been reported in most of the major press, and have released their BLM and ecotourism videos too in the last few weeks. And her reading to Archie on his birthday. They are doing their best to remain current and in our faces and faux-virtuous. They are very irritating.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 12/08/2020 12:39

Even my mum who doesn't really follow the royals or any sort of gossip news is saying that there's too much coverage

Foreversweets · 12/08/2020 12:39

I said to my partner last week it's like they disappeared of the face of the earth lol. Not seen a thing about them.

It's boring anyway. Harry has choosen his own way of life and good for him. it was time to leave the stuffy old traditions behind. He's happy and it doesn't matter how many people disagree with his choice. He's a human like the rest of us. He wants something outside of his circle and people don't like it. It's no different to a traveller marrying a non traveller. A black person marrying a white person or a Muslim marrying someone with no religion who changes for them. People just hate to see people not following traditions and it's such a waste of life.

Let them be. If it fails one day it fails. Harry isn't like William and I think he has always wanted to be like everyone else. I think he has never loved being royal. He had alot of heartache around his mum. His dad married the women who hurt his mum. So he's had to a really strong person over the years. I fully suspect he needed his own space and life and that's ok.

Serenster · 12/08/2020 12:45

Britain will be made to confront this shameful behaviour towards this woman.

You absolutely cannot call her that! Don't let Harry hear you...
