To be completely bored of the constant coverage of Harry and Meghan

It's just too much! Way too much media focus on a them and all their drama. There's a global pandemic, explosions, oil spills etc. etc. etc. There are so many more important things going on in the World than a bunch of over-priviledged plebs and their family drama. It's not interesting, it's not relevant to the rest of the World and it's not in any way beneficial to anyone to keep speculating about them. I get that some people may find it interesting but so interesting it dominates headlines for months on end?!?

I should point out, I'm moaning about the media's obsession rather than them as an individual couple; whilst I'm not a fan of theirs by any stretch, it's the ridiculous number of articles I've seen about them across different news sites that's bugging me. Surely there's not that much to say about them?!

Does that mean that Scobie is stating that the Sussexes collaborated with him in the book?

FizzAfterSix · 12/08/2020 19:37

You can’t really avoid this couple whichever newspaper you read because royalty sells.

I read today that they have bought (well not them exactly because Prince Charles funded it) a swanky new home in Santa Barbara.

Prince Charles hugely put up the rents on his Duchy if Cornwall estate in March.

I find it revolting that the nearly 40-yr-old Prince of Woke seeks to fund his lavish lifestyle on the backs of hard working people in the Isles of Scilly, where there is severe economic hardship.

He has had positive PR all his life but I reckon has been spoilt and entitled for years. He rode his old polo pony to death, injured another with spurs, kills wild animals for fun including buffalo in Africa. Dumped Meghan’s rescue dog because it didn’t like him and the other dog broke it’s legs in mysterious circumstances. And called his friend the P word and dressed as a Nazi and I’m sure loads of stuff concealed by the royal PR machine.

That this nonentity dares to preach to lesser mortals about our behaviour is off the scale offensive.

And no, I’m not being racist. Some of my best friends are German.

LittleBearPad · 12/08/2020 19:41

Yes the financial freedom does seem rather to consist of having PC pay for everything. Given Harry has millions of his own you might think he’d stand on his own two feet

CallmeAngelina · 12/08/2020 19:47

And I would like to know why he has "bought" a new property, without settling the debt to the British taxpayer on Frogmore Cottage.

HarryDaylight · 12/08/2020 19:51

If Prince Charles hugely put up rents in the Duchy of Cornwall estate in March as FizzAfterSix states, then there should be a very good reason why, and it should be made public.

Maybe something that the UK press should investigate.

HarryDaylight · 12/08/2020 19:58

And Frogmore Cottage. Why has the money owed not been repaid and the public been informed?

We all know that it would be good publicity for the Sussexes and Prince Charles if they clarified the debt as being cleared.

EthelMayFergus · 12/08/2020 19:58

Seriously, Finding Freedom from the royal family but asking Prince Charles to buy your house? What an embarrassing shambles they are.

@HarryDaylight that Prince Charles has put up the rents considerably at the Duchy of Cornwall, this was reported in the papers and BBC.
It’s so unfair and disgustingly feudal.
Prince Harry should seek to atone his own privileges before lecturing the proles on their perceived faults.

Just what the world needs, another lefty woke bro. The hypocrisy is off the scale.

KatherineParr4 · 12/08/2020 20:10

Entitled doesn’t even begins to cover it. It is just breathtaking.

I'm not going to blame MM as that is too `cherchez la femme' but I think Prince Harry was probably like this all along but it was successfully covered up by top notch Palace PR people. Also we felt sorry for him because of his early tragedy. But he is nearly 40 now and needs to man up!

User214934514 · 12/08/2020 20:18

Does anyone else feel sorry for the staff mentioned in the book? They are not allowed to respond, I think they have to sign NDAs, yet they're being slated publicly. It's a bit nasty of M and H to do that.

Agreed. However they're probably relieved to have had a narrow escape. More than anyone else, they can sit back with a cup of tea and watch the H&M saga implode over the next few years.

For once, words fail me.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 12/08/2020 20:23

If MM and H do not sue Scobie and Durand it will be proof that they have cooperated with the book. This book is 10 times worse than anything the tabloids could have imagined and fabricated. It makes them look like appalling spoilt individuals.

We will see what happens but my prediction is that there will be no lawsuit forthcoming.

FizzAfterSix · 12/08/2020 20:24

@Toptotoeunicolour I couldn’t resist introducing a new racial narrative 😂😂

Toptotoeunicolour · 12/08/2020 20:26

Thanks for that Fizz, it brightened my day.

Lifeandjoy · 12/08/2020 20:46

The lawsuit is about a specific breach of privacy and misusing and doctoring a letter. How is this book anywhere near that allegation?

When will this ridiculousness end? Stop bullying Meghan Markle! All of you who bash her would crumble in a heap if you received a fraction of the abuse you are levelling at her.

1Morewineplease · 12/08/2020 20:57

I just find it odd that the couple upped sticks and left due to media interference in their lives, so they go to the US and get even more media attention???
Baffled.

HarryDaylight · 12/08/2020 20:59

I have to sign a NDA and agree to the use of my name in my work contracts, and I would take a very dim view if someone took advantage of that.

I really think that the book has breached that line.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 21:01

She isn't been bullied, stop being so melodramatic. They are guilty of exactly what they accuse others of. What about Angela Kelly's privacy, or William and Kate's? The gossipy comments in their tabloid book are just as bad as any comments made about them.
gingganggooleywotsit · 12/08/2020 21:01

If you don't want to hear about them, don't read mail online

Lifeandjoy · 12/08/2020 21:09

They are being bullied and there is underlying racism. It is not being dramatic it is what it is. This denial is not fooling anyone except those who want to keep denying what is patently obvious. As I’ve said before, what do you suppose the typical person who denies racism is involved and denies bullying looks like?

Roussette · 12/08/2020 21:10

She isn't been bullied

That is probably one of the most untrue things I have ever ever read on MN. Have you read all the threads, the stuff that's been said about her? The names she's been called, the despicable insinuations and insults, the assumptions, the nastiness, the criticism of her hair, her body, her clothes, her face, what she says, what she does, it is endless... A lot has been deleted for a very good reason. A lot has been left. Hundreds of threads. To say she's not been bullied ... goodness me... it's been open season on the both of them for a long time.

Luckily there are some middle of the road posters who don't necessarily warm to them but who can have a rational discussion.
