It's just too much! Way too much media focus on a them and all their drama. There's a global pandemic, explosions, oil spills etc. etc. etc. There are so many more important things going on in the World than a bunch of over-priviledged plebs and their family drama. It's not interesting, it's not relevant to the rest of the World and it's not in any way beneficial to anyone to keep speculating about them. I get that some people may find it interesting but so interesting it dominates headlines for months on end?!?

I should point out, I'm moaning about the media's obsession rather than them as an individual couple; whilst I'm not a fan of theirs by any stretch, it's the ridiculous number of articles I've seen about them across different news sites that's bugging me. Surely there's not that much to say about them?!

OP posts:

I am surprised they allowed him to marry her. I was a fan of her in Suits but the Royal Family was way out of her league. Both of them seriously needed a lesson in real life and have now got it.

Rousette!

I’m so happy to see you here! I haven’t seen you for a while and thought you might have left the site for good! Have you just left the royal threads for a bit or do I just keeping missing you? Hope you’re doing well 🙂

What a ridiculous comparison. While not the same status as Kate, she was a young senior royal at that point and one of only a handful of full time working royals. It’s more like comparing the CEO with the CFO.

The CEO will still be on twice the salary and will still have a nicer car, plus one for the weekend

PiataMaiNei · 12/08/2020 16:14

@TheChristmasPrincess

The problem with couture dresses is that they are hard to cost up unless you are in the know, especially anything that has been specially designed. Dress estimates could easily be half or or double the price of the actual piece. But I’m thinking that people who write these articles are making reasonable guestimations (my favourite word 😆) based on inside sources and experts rather than plucking numbers from out of the air.

And whilst the DM has been known to twist the truth, they have been unexpectedly accurate in terms of some of the H&M gossip recently 😐(much to my chargrin, there’s nothing worse than smug “i was right” Piers Morgan urgh 🙄)

Out of interest, speaking as someone with no idea about couture whatsoever, why would you think that? I don't mean that to sound arsey, just I've no clue.

I can only assume that post is a joke.

@Roussette

But you can read anything into anything if you try hard enough

Oh dear, rose-tinted glasses still on then? At least my post was a balanced one and wished them both well - recognising that other people's points of view may be valid is something that comes with maturity and experience. Most of us get there eventually.

allowed to marry her??why wouldn't he be?

I'll highlight your post if only to illustrate how certain posters resort to personal digs when someone doesn't agree with them.

Balanced???! You call Harry a bit part actor, you say she pushes herself forward, you say MM acted like she was on a showbiz engagement, you call Harry pathetic and say you 'don't like the woman'. Balanced, really?

I reply saying I get nervous and talk too much sometimes so I got that and 'you can read anything into anything if you try hard enough'.

And for that you reply as above.

Rude.

I have genuinely not seen you on the other threads for ages and thought you might have left. I do enjoy your input in the others threads even if I don’t always agree with what you say. Plus I think you’re really funny and witty 😆

Will stop now, this is turning into a bit of a Roussette loving 😆😍 Will have to keep my eyes peeled!

The80sweregreat · 12/08/2020 16:33

I do believe that this new book was endorsed by Meghan and Harry in order to put their side of the story. They may have distanced themselves from it , but bits I've read on the daily mail do sound more her and it is very pro both of them and everyone else is the 'baddie ' of the piece. I think it's just their way of getting more publicity but under the guise of pretending it's not them ( if that makes any sense!)
I did laugh at her ' packing skills' for a holiday they had , as she thought ' Harry is very fair skinned and will need sun cream ' ! It's a good job they are around to make sure that anyone else going somewhere hot will ' be like Meghan' and get in the factor 50! Isn't she clever? I bet PH had never had to worry as someone else always packs the sun cream in the past!

It is said that she only eats ' steel cut oats' for breakfast which puzzled me as I like porridge and never seen this wonder in Sainsbury's ! (Scottish oats clearly don't cut the mustard)

I think they are just one of those couples that are never happy , upset people and generally a bit spoilt. The sort of people you only go on holiday once with and come home not seeing them ever again..

I wish them all well though and the bits I've read are very cringy but with so many other bad things going on in the world with oil tanker spillages and Covid and the economy tanking to record levels and people losing their homes and their jobs, that all this is just fluff and M always just wanted to live near her mum in LA. It seems she is the only person she seems to truely like and get on with by the sounds of it.
All a bit of a storm in gold tea cup really.

"I do think that if the Mail is your source of “news” then you can hardly complain if it is full of Harry and Meghan. But you’d be hard pressed to find even a few words on the BBC news website, the Guardian on-line or the Independent."

Hard pressed? Really? Grin Here re just a few that were immediately to hand. I couldn't be bothered to link them all.

I did have to laugh at 'balanced view' as well, especially then hinting youre the immature one considering there are posters here who've decided that Meghan is 'putting on a show' just from flippin hand gestures and from the fact she's an actress. They've gone so far down the rabbit hole they don't even seem to realise they're talking like loony conspiracy theorists do.

Lifeandjoy · 12/08/2020 16:37

Meghan was way out of the dysfunctional Royal Family’s league. She is intelligent and worked hard to earn her own wealth. That can’t be said for many of the RF.

Lifeandjoy · 12/08/2020 16:37

I’m surprised she wasted her time marrying into a fading, nonsensical institution.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 16:38

Rousette you seem to be head of the fan club so can you tell me what you think of the tacky book? Don't you agree that by allowing/encouraging friends to share private details it not only makes a mockery of their wish for privacy, but worse it actually breaches the privacy of the members of the Royal Family who are discussed?

Of course they had scores to settle but the same could be said of Thomas Markle who only wanted to put his side of the story forward. Why is it ok for the Sussexes to scrape the media barrel but no one else?

CallmeAngelina · 12/08/2020 16:38

I am surprised they allowed him to marry her. I was a fan of her in Suits but the Royal Family was way out of her league.
According to Lady CC, the only reason the marriage was allowed to go ahead was because of her biracial heritage. Can you imagine the uproar if he'd been denied official permission?
But that aside, it ought to have been a fabulous thing. I think it's very sad that it's turned out this way.

Tumbledryer1 · 12/08/2020 16:44

OP you need a tv licence even if you don’t watch BBC by the way.
And I agree I’ve seen loads of irrelevant articles about M&H and I’m fed up of it - I wish the media would give them the “privacy” they want and do us all a favour. Unfortunately it’s not true, they don’t really want privacy they want to pick and choose. Harry will be back at some point when it all goes wrong, but they have completely lost any respect I had for them.

C130 · 12/08/2020 16:52

@Lifeandjoy

This.
Roussette · 12/08/2020 16:52

GetOff I think Thomas Markle behaved abominably. If that was my father, I doubt I would have wanted him at my wedding either. She pleaded with him to talk to her and not the Press, and what does he do? Give a horrible interview about her. I watched it .... 'time to look after daddy. They owe me'. Yuk

I am not 'head of the fan club'. Hmm Are you head of the ummm 'dislikers' club? I've gone on the threads and offered alternative views, and I presume that's why you call me that. There are others who would like to, but it's not easy at all. I'll leave that subject there.

I don't think much of the book, I don't take every single word of it as gospel, and as has been illustrated on here, there are a lot of people who don't even know about the book. It's only very very important to those that want to dissect every word and go on a forum and talk about it and use it to verify their dislike of H&M. To the rest of us, it's a bit irrelevant.

EthelMayFergus · 12/08/2020 16:58

She pleaded with him to talk to her and not the press?
How do you know this and what makes you think it's true?

EthelMayFergus · 12/08/2020 17:01

Does anyone else feel sorry for the staff mentioned in the book? They are not allowed to respond, I think they have to sign NDAs, yet they're being slated publicly. It's a bit nasty of M and H to do that.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 17:02

'it's only very very important to those that want to dissect every word and go on a forum and talk about it and use it to verify their dislike of H&M. To the rest of us, it's a bit irrelevant.'

Irrelevant, ah how convenient! Where's the legal suit for invasion of privacy that this book clearly is? Nothing, not one comment. They have used the media in the same way her dad did her yet they were so disgusted with him. Don't the members of the RF discussed in their tabloid style tat deserve privacy too? Their actions show them to be so fickle and shallow, they seem to represent everything they purport to loathe.
