BikeRunSki · 08/08/2020 09:22

Talcum powder, to get the sand off wet feet before trailing it into the car

elstree2020 · 08/08/2020 09:23

No one with a camera or using the camera on their phone.

More water than you can carry

unchienandalusia · 08/08/2020 09:27

After a day at the beach yesterday I wish I brought our fold up sun loungers. I always used to think what a faff, but I was really uncomfortable and sandy by the end of the day. Must be getting old.

purpledagger · 08/08/2020 09:28

Beach toys - bucket and space, water squirters etc. Get them from the pound shop before you go.

Modestandatinybitsexy · 08/08/2020 09:28

Big cool bag filled with ice packs and cold drinks/water. Crisps, bread rolls and ham for sandwiches.

Beach towels

Some kind of shade - we're all very fair

Sun cream

Buckets and spades

A good book

Velcro tennis/ ball/ rounders set

Emeraldshamrock · 08/08/2020 09:29

A few masks and hand sanitizer. Plenty of drinks for the DC to avoid queuing up in crowds.

bigmonkeys · 08/08/2020 10:59

Thanks for your replies!
We've been heading to a very quiet part of the beach - we opt for no toilets, no ice cream and no food stalls in sight so hardly anybody wants to go there 😂
Ikea bags are definitely a good shout! And agree with whoever said about the chairs, I am feeling the same 🥴

A dog and a ball. But the beach needs to be large and empty Grin

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/08/2020 11:09

Some beach!

I’ve just been past our local beach - high tide today is 11am. It’s a big tide - there was next to no beach left and hundreds of people!!

Check the tide times before you go!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 08/08/2020 11:13

I saw a suggestion of using a fitted sheet on the beach to help keep sand off where you are sitting. Wish I'd thought of that when I had little ones!

What are must haves for the beach?
Sheknowsaboutme · 08/08/2020 11:44

Day at the beach? No thanks. Too many people. Esp now with no social distancing.

Prefer the beach on a cold windy day when the holiday makers leave.

Belledan1 · 08/08/2020 11:49

Best thing i got this year was a waterproof and sand proof beach blanket. just shake it once leaving beach. Take some carrybags too for wet towels

bigmonkeys · 08/08/2020 15:49

Can I just say again - where we are on the beach there were hardly any people. I was social distancing with about a 100 metre between everyone!
Wow - brilliant idea re the fitted sheet!!

HealingCalmingSoothing · 08/08/2020 16:05

LOVE the fitted sheet idea!

purplemunkey · 08/08/2020 16:14

I suppose the fitted sheet is kind of clever, but isn’t sand sort of the point of going to the beach? May as well sit in a garden or park if your going to do that. Got to enjoy the feeling of sand between your toes!

Nanny0gg · 08/08/2020 16:18

^^This.

Gamechanger

Mumdiva99 · 08/08/2020 16:25

Sun tent with a door - doubles as changing tent, staying out the wind tent, sheltering from the rain tent. And you can shove all your clothes and stuff in it if you all want to play in the water together.
Bag that can take sandy stuff....can chuck bucket and spade etc, water shoes, wet costumes etc in at the end of the day.

Fishing nets.

Food and drink preferably in a cool bag.

Blanket to sit on.

Towels.

Water shoes if rocky/stony

Inflatable something - boogie boards are good.
