@purplemunkey

I suppose the fitted sheet is kind of clever, but isn’t sand sort of the point of going to the beach? May as well sit in a garden or park if your going to do that. Got to enjoy the feeling of sand between your toes!
I agree in some ways, but we had a big age gap between our DCs, having the baby on the sheet and not eating sand while the older one played in the sand would have made for a more relaxing beach day. Also good for lunchtime - hate getting sand in my Inaptly named sandwiches!

It’s perfectly possible to social distance on some beaches. Where we were today the car Park was completely full with people parking all up the lane on approach - but absolutely loads of space between people on the beach, no danger of getting closer than 2m.

Any suggestions for a baby who apparently hates sand?!? Other than the fitted sheet idea, wish I’d know about that before we left home. We had a beach tent but she didn’t seem to like sitting in that much.

Towels, wetsuits, bodyboards, BIG spades for hole digging, biff bat (beach tennis), rugby ball, sun cream, water, flask of coffee and biscuits (this is the U.K.) and warm hoodies for when it gets cold.

I spent my childhood at the beach from around the age of 9/10. The other day my sister and I were talking about our summers at the beach which was a 10 minute walk. We put some sun cream on, left the house with a towel and a bottle of squash and literally spent all day there with hours in the sea! Our mum never came, it was always me and my sis who was 3 years older and different friends came down. No tents/picnics/snacks every half hour. Just pure fun!

That was the 90s though...

Looking at the news, a parking space would be the first requirement!

Wind breaks are good for marking out territory these days!
