AIBU to wonder WTF this beast is?

OK, it's clearly a cat, but do any MNetters what what sort?

Our garden backs onto some woods and this beast just chased next door's juvenile cat over the fence (from the woods) and across my garden. Poor cat was terrified, absolutely running for its life and ran into my house for shelter.

I was outside at the time, shouted at the beast and told it to fuck off (as you do!) and the thing bared it's teeth at me and hissed! WTF is it and why is it so angry?!

It must be bloody hot this weather

bloodywhitecat · 07/08/2020 13:55

Is it a Rag Doll? (breed of cat not an actual rag doll)

SlowDown76mph · 07/08/2020 13:56

Looks like a Maine Coon. Unusual to see them wandering. And their nature is exceptionally good usually. It's coat looks well kept - could it be lost? Might be worth checking.

MyEnormousTurnip · 07/08/2020 13:56

I think it’s a maine coon. Beautiful.

bloodywhitecat · 07/08/2020 13:56

Or a Maine Coon?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/08/2020 13:56

I think it is a Norwegian Forest Cat

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/08/2020 13:59

Or it could be a Maine Coon. Is it huge?

Hidingtonothing · 07/08/2020 14:00

It's a Maine Coon and he wouldn't be out if he was mine! They're not generally aggressive so I'd be wondering if he's lost too, worth checking local FB groups in case someone's looking for him.

ListeningQuietly · 07/08/2020 14:03

Whatever it is, keep a plant sprayer to hand set to jet
and "invite" it to leave your garden
harmless but effective

Whiskyinajar · 07/08/2020 14:04

Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest by the looks of it, pedigree....might be worth seeing if you can tempt it into a cat box and get it scanned for a microchip.

ODFOx · 07/08/2020 14:04

I've found Maine coon and Norwegian photos that look just like him. Definitely someone's pride and joy though, so catch him if you can. That is not an outdoor cat which is probably why he's so angry!

Griselda1 · 07/08/2020 14:06

Very beautiful, I think it's a rag doll.

SummerHouse · 07/08/2020 14:06

He looks angry.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 07/08/2020 14:06

He is impressive

Far bigger than my old Maine coon

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/08/2020 14:06

I've never seen a tail like that!

polkadotpixie · 07/08/2020 14:07

Looks like a Maine Coone or a Norweigan Forest Cat. My sister has 2 Weegies, 1 is a sweetheart, the other is a demon 😂

Toilenstripes · 07/08/2020 14:08

He looks terrified. I’m thinking he’s got out accidentally. Can you check with your neighbours? He shouldn’t be roaming around like that as he’s a target for thieves.

diddl · 07/08/2020 14:10

That's a gorgeous looking cat!

Hope it gets safely home.

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 07/08/2020 14:10

Clearly a new breed of sheep!!
Grin

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 07/08/2020 14:11

Looks a real baa-d ass!!

Insearchoffitness · 07/08/2020 14:15

No idea but that's one beautiful cat.

MadeleineMaxwell · 07/08/2020 14:38

My friend has a Maine Coon, he has a bigger face but smaller tail - that one there's tail is mag-ni-fi-cent!

Friend's Maine Coon is in fact an outdoor roamer and can absolutely take care of himself, he's a miniature bloody lion! Not aggressive as such but does not put up with any shit he doesn't like.

My bog-standard mog is constantly fighting too though, it's all territory. It's what they do.

BlankTimes · 07/08/2020 15:05

He's really spiky in that photo, look at the hairs standing up on his back and his tail's all pouffed up.

I'd put some food and water out for him, he could be lost.

AConvivialHost · 07/08/2020 15:17

Definitely an adult MC, looks a similar size to my Foz.
