Can't believe this happened today, infact its still rattling round my head now!

I have problems with my bladder, and manage to wet myself numerious times a day! (its a fairly recent thing and I am still trying to come to turns with it!) I do not like going out on my own at the moment, just incase I have an accident. MIL suggested that we take DDs to an shopping outlet centre for the afternoon. I am not sure, and so tell her. She convinces me that I need to get out and about, and that there are loos there. So I go.

Look around the shops, not a big place, then I take youngest DD to playpark at centre, no sooner had she started playing when I wet myself! I was mortified, MIL had not yet got to park, so I tried ringing her on mobile(no answer). I then see her walking along with other DD, send youngest DD off to tell MIL what has happened and I needed to go home, I walk to car and sit in it and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. Must have been at least 20 mins I waited in car for them to come. Eventually MIL saunters over leaving DDs in park and suggests we go for a drink!!!!!. I am in tears by this stage, tell her no I dont want a drink, I just want to go home(a 45 min car journey away!) Her reply was - we all need a drink, we have not had one this afternoon, I'm going to get one for the girls! I sat there for another 10 mins while she goes off and buys us all drinks even though I had said I didnt want one!

I still cant believe this actually happened this afternoon, maybe I am being unreasonable to expect to go home pretty pronto after wetting myself, I know that if it had happened to someone else then I would quick to deny DDs a drink.

I also thought that maybe DD had not given MIL the message, but going home in car, MIL told me how discreet DD had been, and how grown up she had benn too. DDs were on a development day today so were not at school!

Sorry its so long, feel better already now rant is over!

How horribly unpleasant! From your OP I assumed that your MIL thoght you had had a small leak - the common post-babies sort that most of us will have had at somepoint or another - but clearly she is aware of the severity of the problem. Most insensitive of her!

Have youcome across this company? They were extremely helpful on the phone.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 02/10/2007 18:12

i think you get radar keys from your local council offices.

sounds horrific, can you carry a backpack of spare clothes with you? rather than having to go back to the car?

katybumpinthenight · 02/10/2007 18:18

your local library can order the keys for you.

moonmother · 02/10/2007 18:55

No advice pinkbubble ,but lots of sympathy and at your MIL.

My dad had this after an operation for prostrate cancer earlier this year, and I spent the most time looking after him when he came out of hospital,he found it incredibly humiliating and very embarrassing.

I hope your problem gets sorted soon,it took my dad a while but hes great now, hopefully you will be too.

I'm glad your dd's are being so mature, you should be proud. As for your MIL,she should be very ashamed.

pinkbubble · 02/10/2007 22:56

Thanks guys, really appreciate all that has been said. (MIL does now what my laks are like, she is just a very stubborn lady that when she has her mind set on things then no way is she happy to change her plans. She can be a very kind and caring ladt too!

My gynae-urology nurse has said that she thinks now that my bladder has come highly irritable, and they are thinking of putting me on some medication, unfortunately the last lot didnt work.

It is having this problem, you always expect it to happen to older people, not someone in their 30's. When they referred me to a different hosp(I was bleeding quite heavily) they put me on a urology ward - it was mixed sex and lots of old people. I was the youngest by about 40 yrs(thats no exaggeration) I really dont want to end up there again, although there is talk of it!

Widgypog, did you have to have special tests(urodynamics) done to assertain that you had an irritable bladder. I have already had these tests done before I had my initial op, and they are horrid, just concerned that I would have to have them again!
TBH, although I dont want the tests again, I would put myself through them again, just to get some answers!

HI bubble ..yes I had urodynamics.I have tried (sp) detruisitol, some other one I can find out and some patches. The second one worked but left me a little spaced out. i know how you feel ..I am 32 and feel what is it going to be like when I am old!!

P.s are you private or nhs as I asked my gynaecologist if i wasn't private would I have to just live with it and he said yes.

Do you mind me asking what the minor op was for ..was it relevant to your baldder problems initially?

pinkbubble · 03/10/2007 14:12

Widgypog do you have MSN, so we can talk off site?

Plus I am feeling rather blue this afternoon, had an "accident" in class today, infront of 25 (5 yr olds) lining up for dinner! Do you think I could move off that chair, Nope, I was super glued to it until they left the room! Then I scarpered home and cried big time! Also I am cross with myself as Pinkchampagne and I were going out to lunch to celebrate her birthday, and I cancelled! So sorry PC.

Also, I am due for a pad assessment!!!!!!(whatever one of those entails) I am running out of heavy duty pads, so contacted GP surgery at 12.30, receptionist said I would have to speak to my GP and ring back at 2pm. I set my alarm for 2pm, ring surgery at said time, only to be told to ring back at 4.15pm! I told receptionist this was not on as I had been told to ring at 2pm, basically she said he is now in surgery and wait until 4.15 I am not around at 4.15 as I have to pick DD up from football training and take her to Brownies!

Why tell me 2pm!

Sorry rant over!

Have just had the GP ring me! Receptionist must have told him how annoyed I was!!! He is going to chase up with the incontinent advisors, about the pad assessment! I am so not happy, I am on there bloody books! and have even met them, ok not for a few weeks now and before the leaking started, you would have thought that they have a role to play, and why wait for so long to assess me!

I am so mad at DD, whilst I was out doing football/brownie run, left specific instructions if nurse rang while I was out to give her my mobile number. Did she do it no! Her friend rang her and they got chating away, my Nurse rang and left a message on answermachine to say that she will try and ring tomorrow! I am so cross, wouldnt mind so much but DD sees this girl everyday, and it was to ask her for tea on Friday! bloddy kids!
