Was it unusual to have made pasta in the microwave?

I'm in my second trimester of pregnancy so of course i'm getting cravings by now. One of my strongest cravings is cheesy pasta Blush
Of course I know that that's not unusual at all and today I was bloody hungry. I read that pasta could be made in the microwave so I just quickly filled a bowl up with water and salt and made it in about two minutes.
The pasta was perfectly done in my eyes and I sprinkled on some cheese with pepper and it was an enjoyable meal.
But now my Dh thinks it's disgusting!! It wasn't like I was making a lot so a microwave was reasonable. Just a little bowl of some cheesy pasta isn't disgusting surely?? Angry
AIBU to think he's being a silly bastard for thinking it's weird to use a microwave?? Hmm

OMG, pasta in the microwave is fine! I have had no kitchen for the last month with moving house and waiting on a kitchen being put in. We've had pasta cooked in the microwave upteen times since then and its perfect. You are literally just boiling it in the microwave. Bag of pasta, kettle of boiling water, clingfilm the bowl and 8-10 mins for fusilli bit less for tortelini . Drain and add sauce. Doesn't taste any different or different in texture.

OP you're fine, that pasta is quite small and thin and cooks quick, microwaving it did no harm at all!

PS I do my basmati rice in the microwave too ;)

I've seen people on here say they leave a small amount to soak a cup of kettle boiled water for five mins as a "hack" for kids who wasn't a quick meal and you're busy. If a handful of macaroni cooks while stood in a cup of hot water I can see what a coupe of handfuls would cook in a microwave with constant heat.

Feta is fine in pregnancy.
You can actually buy microwave packet pasta that's actually ok for a quick pasta fix Grin

I microwave pasta regularly at work. I put it in a large bowl with plenty of salt, boiling water and cook it for 8 - 9 mins (stirring half way through). Tastes just the same as pasta that’s been boiled on the hob.

I cook pasta in the microwave, I use a rice cooker. It doesn't boil over like it does on the hob, unless to put too much water in. Put it on for a few minutes, remove, stir, check water level is OK and put it back for a few more minutes. Repeat until it is cooked the way you like it.
