To think my portion was too large (photo)?

I’m living a bit ‘on the road’ at the moment (essential) and relying on eating out - trying to be as healthy as I can as I’m trying (!) to lose weight.

I have attached a photo of tonight’s evening meal, my only meal of the day plus a few snacks. My photo isn’t the best unfortunately but it was a bowl of spicy rice and a bowl of bean stew/soup (I’m vegetarian).

Aibu to think I had too much? Would you have eaten all of it? Unfortunately through years of dieting and binge eating I have lost sight of what a normal portion of food is and how ‘normal’ people eat.

Ps i appreciate it doesn’t look very nice but it was actually quite tasty!

@PurpleDaisies stop shattering people's illusions. If we pretend a modern 6/8 is teeny and underweight, a size 12/14 can be slim and size 16/18 'curvy'. When in reality unless you are exceptionally tall and well built (as in bigger built than many men or over 6') or wear bigger sizes to accommodate a large chest, pro weightlifting shoulders etc that's highly unlikely to be the case for the majority.
But we're not supposed to mention it. It's considered more polite to insult genuinely slim people so others can feel better about themselves.

PurpleDaisies · 30/07/2020 21:40

I think you probably wear clothes that are too tight, which is fine but I don't like to feel constricted.

And I think you’re trying to make me feel bad about myself. Which is pretty pathetic.

Frazzledstar1 · 30/07/2020 21:41

The portion of rice looks a bit big but if it was your only meal of the day then I’d say it’s fine.

What are you on about? People were confused as to why PurpleDaisies appeared to be so small at 5'7" and 9 stone.
Don't be so bloody snarky.

Linemanfort · 30/07/2020 21:43

I don't think you wear too tight clothes but maybe you have three legs?

JRUIN · 30/07/2020 21:44

Like most posters are trying to make OP feel bad for eating more than 4 grains of rice do you mean?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/07/2020 21:45

No they didn't

I was one of the ones saying it was fine.

Thisismytimetoshine · 30/07/2020 21:46

Of course they bloody did! Have you read the thread?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/07/2020 21:47

60kg on 170 cm is S. Obviously it depend on body shape as well. S is 6-8.

I look forward to seeing you to disect overweight people's weight and clothes sizes like this...

Thisismytimetoshine · 30/07/2020 21:48

So many people declaring that was enough food for 3 people, or claiming they'd get 2/3 meals out of it 🤣

PurpleDaisies · 30/07/2020 21:48

Like most posters are trying to make OP feel bad for eating more than 4 grains of rice do you mean?

And this has no bearing on how you’ve been behaving towards me. Which is pathetic.

chaoticisatroll55 · 30/07/2020 21:49

It would be far too much for me but beans make me bloat anyway.

Thisismytimetoshine · 30/07/2020 21:52

PurpleDaisies I didn't see anyone try to make you feel bad about yourself, just people expressing surprise that at size 6/8 you were actually 60kg.

Are you sensitive about your size?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/07/2020 21:54

@PurpleDaisies I would leave it.

PurpleDaisies · 30/07/2020 21:56

Yes @SchrodingersImmigrant I had better go and squeeze myself into my size 8 pyjamas which are busting at the seams with my huge muffin top and rolls of stomach fat hanging out over the top.

Oh wait...

eaglejulesk · 30/07/2020 21:57

No wonder we've got so many kids with eating disorders these days, if this thread is indicative of mothers!!!

This! Some of the comments on here are appalling.

Thisismytimetoshine · 30/07/2020 21:57

You're being bloody ridiculous, Purple. God love you.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/07/2020 21:59

Just make sure you don't breath too muchGrin
eaglejulesk · 30/07/2020 22:03

This thread is completely fucked up. I must have entered the twilight zone by mistake. Excuse me while I exit

I'm going to join you - honestly, there are some seriously strange people on this thread, and I fear for their children.

Bluntness100 · 30/07/2020 22:09

Some of rhese comments are really quite comical, from folks who seem to think cafes or restaurants serve your main meal on side plates and cereal bowls to suggestions on what to cook to make it healthier, ,,,is she to instruct the chef? 🤣🤣🤣

Thisismytimetoshine · 30/07/2020 22:10

Op said she's abroad and the price was the equivalent of £1.50. Very likely to have been very small bowls.

IDidntChoseThePondLife · 30/07/2020 22:11

I can’t get passed the on meal a day! I’d have killed someone if I’d not eaten all day. The fact that it’s all brown would put me off too. I believe that your food should fit into cupped hands but can’t remember where I heard that. Was it nice? Did you enjoy it? In this hot weather I’m craving delicious tomatoes, fresh salad leaves. Can you find lovely fresh vitamin-packed food? That looks like a winter dish to me. Pretty unappetising though - I’d want some salad leaves on the side.

Foodiefoodieyemek · 30/07/2020 22:20

@SchrodingersImmigrant sorry didn't see your message! Yes we are open. Everything is 1 metre apart and hand sanitisers everywhere. Application for hands free ordering and paying. Regular cleaning etc

Toomuchtrouble4me · 30/07/2020 22:27

I wouldn’t eat that much - I’d eat 1 bowl but not two - however, it looks healthy so eat until you’re sated.
