Had a locksmith come this morning to replace the locks. He said he had to ‘take a bit out of the door to make it fit’. Surely, if this is your job, you should be able to do it neatly. Top lovely straight line in the door is original, bottom bosh it job is how he ‘fitted’ the new lock in the door. To add insult to injury he said ‘it’s a beautiful door’. I didn’t add, ‘well it was before you rogered it with a chisel’. I know I’m supper fussy about quality of work, so AIBU?

That’s atrocious. Ok he’s not a joiner but it’s his job to chisel doors and install locks, he should be able to do it properly.

Life is too short to worry about shit like that. Tiny bit of filler and it’s sorted, or just wait a day or two and far more important things will fill your days.

I've got a feeling it'll be quite a lot now until it's done to OPs standards.

I can't see the problem with it personally. Just stick a bit of filler in.

I'd be complaining in your shoes. That's not a great finish and as a locksmith I'd exoect him to do a decent job.

I think that's poor. I would complain and try and get them to come back and fill it, but expect to do it myself.

I must have low standards because I can't see what's supposed to be wrong. I can't seem to enlarge the photo though.

I wouldn't care personally, I certainly wouldn't be complaining about it. It's the inside of a door, so it's not on show.

I’d like to see the whole thing, as it looks huge. But might look fine from another angle.
From your photo, it almost looks like two screws aren’t in the wood.
If they aren’t, get them back to fix it.
It could just be the angle of the photograph though.

The finish on the wood would not bother me but what are the left hand top and bottom screws fastened to ? the top one looks like its silver rather than brass coloured too , they should all match really

I wouldn't be happy with the mess he had made under the lock so I probably would have asked for a discount. However im baffeld sat here trying to work out why 2 of the screws dont seems to actually be attached to the door...
