To find people who dislike animals a bit cold in general

Yes it’s probably goady. Yes I’ve made an apt name change but...

Honestly - anyone I’ve ever met who’s “not an animal person” always seems to be a bit... off.

I’m not talking about those who are say scared of dogs, or a bit mistrustful of cats. I mean those who are very much “it’s just an animal” (and no I don’t include farmers in this either.

I know plenty of people who are nervous of animals and they’re lovely / but have known maybe around 3 people who really are jist “who cares” and they are not so nice.

I love animals, have always had pets and can’t imagine not having them. Love when dogs come up to me when I’m out for a walk, I’m the first person to find the cat at a house party. I don’t understand people who don’t like animals at all and find it odd, but as many other posters have said I also find the “I prefer animals to humans and humans should all die out” brigade really irritating. I generally like people. But I just find it odd that someone could look into the eyes of a tiny kitten and feel nothing Grin haha

Inknowinkmkw · 26/07/2020 22:15

@PablosHoney please explain what we should all be doing to live up to your ideals?

SmileyClare · 26/07/2020 22:15

Sorry for teasing you Inknow. Yes those things could be a sign of a cold person, usually alongside a raft of other behaviours indicating character?

Enjoy your wine Grin

SmileyClare · 26/07/2020 22:20

I'm the first person to find the cat at a house party is that some kind of euphemism?

PablosHoney · 26/07/2020 22:26

@Inknowinkmkw Are you the OP name changed back??

CharlottaCarlotta · 26/07/2020 22:28

I absolutely love animals but I’m not a very nice person, so your theory is not true for me.

Inknowinkmkw · 26/07/2020 22:30

@PablosHoney yes name change fail

ZeldalovesLink · 26/07/2020 22:39

Still a living thing that has needs and will thrive in the right environment. Some also do better in a group some do better on their own. They are also very clever in using their environment... as for sentiment, I don't think we know enough about plants to tip the statement either way!

We absolutely do know enough about plants. Clearly not you personally, but the scientific community is in happy consensus that plants don’t have brains, a central nervous system, or sentience. They have complex biochemistry and can react to external stimuli like light, but this is not remotely comparable to sentience.

But i do think people get what I mean. People who can’t say stroke a dog, admire them sweetness of a baby penguin or laugh at a cats haughtiness time me is cold.

But you don’t think it’s cold for you to happily chow down on a pig...?

To me, there’s something almost psychopathically cold about judging someone for not cooing over a penguin when you’ll quite happily eat animal corpses.

PhilSwagielka · 26/07/2020 22:40

I cry at The Lion King because it came out quite soon after my dad died and it was a bit too close to home. Yes, I know I'm not a lion, no, I don't care. I've cried at similar things in other films.

PhilSwagielka · 26/07/2020 22:43

And before anyone asks: I cried my eyes out at Shooting Dogs. That film haunted me.

People cry at fictional things all the time. Catch-22 made people cry. So do soppy romance novels or whatever. Emotions are weird like that. There's no law saying you can only cry at depictions of things that really happened.

Inknowinkmkw · 26/07/2020 22:47

@ZeldalovesLink ok so I’m psycholplathic now?

DollyDoneMore · 26/07/2020 22:51

@unoeufisunoeuf1

I don't usually warm to people who proudly declare "I prefer animals to humans!"

I'm another one who has never wanted to have a pet, but I do like seeing pictures of cute or funny animals, or watching wildlife documentaries.

I agree with this. Anyone who “prefers animals to people” is a fucking psycho, in my book.

Tillygetsit · 26/07/2020 22:52

I'm more distrustful if my dogs don't like them.

ZeldalovesLink · 26/07/2020 22:54

@Inknowinkmkw that’s not quite what I said, is it? But honestly, if it upsets you to be judged harshly on your own attitude to animals, there may be a lesson in there for you in respect of the way you’ve judged people who don’t go gooey at the sight of kittens.

SmileyClare · 26/07/2020 22:54

Can you change back to your original poster name? None of your replies are bolded on the thread now Op so it looks like youre sock puppetting Confused

Ibizafun · 26/07/2020 22:54

I don’t agree.. and I’m an animal lover. Sometimes they just haven’t had the chance to connect with an animal.

Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 23:01

@SmileyClare jist for you ..

OP posts:
SmileyClare · 26/07/2020 23:02

Thanks Op, order is resumed Grin

Tinhatattheready · 26/07/2020 23:02

@Wearywithteens I’d put you at the top of the jive people scale. You obviously care.

OP posts:
Poetryinaction · 26/07/2020 23:06

I don't really like animals. I certainly don't want to pay to look after one in my house. They are a tie and make your house harder to clean usually. I'm ok with them outdoors. I really don't like having to touch animals.
But I am a nice person I think. I'm just not very interested in animals.

InterstellarDrifter · 26/07/2020 23:09

I don’t love animals. I can think they look cute or whatever and I don’t wish them harm. In fact, I hate animal cruelty and think chickens in cages, dairy industry and much of the meat industry is disgusting.
I would never have a pet though as I don’t want to take care of any. Don’t want any personal involvement with an animal as it’s not important to me at all.
I’m not cold though and have lots of people I care for and love.

Dumpling89 · 26/07/2020 23:10

@Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel

It's vert CLEAR what OP meant and actually wrote! Some people really need to read properly Hmm

You're absolutely spot on OP! People that don't like animals are always cunts.

For the slow people at the back, OP doesn't mean people that are scared or nervous of animals she means those that just actively dislike them or do not care if animals are hurt/in pain/abused/dying.

Wow. Sweeping statement of the century. Given the way you make snap judgements about people ('people who dislike animals are always c...') you've not presented yourself as a bag of rainbows yourself. I would like to point out right now that I happen to love animals but think you need to check yourself.
Yeahnahmum · 26/07/2020 23:11

I agree!!

Dumpling89 · 26/07/2020 23:12
**@annabel85* Sometimes the biggest psychopaths are animal lovers.*

Who? Which biggest psychopaths are animal lovers??
Hitler was a vegetarian and loved animals.
