To think Masterchef the Professionals is far better than the other versions

Have been binge watching on Netflix, and having missed a few series have been catching up. But with all three types on (normal, celeb and the pros) it just seems like such a better watch.

I also love Monica.

I agree, it's much better. I find the others boring although the amateur version is good once they've eliminated the no-hopers.

Whatthebloodyell · 26/07/2020 12:10

Agreed. Professionals, then normals, then slebs.

Enderman · 26/07/2020 12:13

There are too many versions, it’s on all the fucking time!

The Professionals finishes and what do you know, the amateurs are starting! So we can watch Greggggg stuffing his face with pudding.

DH loves it, so I get to watch it, a lot (he’s not that selfish, he records it).

Anyone watched medieval masterchef off Horrible Histories? It’s genius.

Jinglebellissimo · 26/07/2020 12:24

@Enderman haha you sound like me and dh but in reverse. Though he grudgingly agrees that the pros is better (and loves hearing Monica pronouncing butter).

YANBU! The presenters don’t seem to take the others as seriously.

Acrasia · 26/07/2020 12:39

Too many versions? I’d be happy for more series, although not the celebrity ones, although... Celebrity Professionals I’d watch! I am currently binge watching Aussie Masterchef, which is brilliant and I would definitely be pro a UK version of this format alongside the other versions we already have.

Jinglebellissimo · 26/07/2020 12:45

@Acrasia I’d love to see celebrity chefs do it (maybe for Comic relief or whatever).

I prefer the ones with Jo public. You see real talent come out ofit. I do like the celeb one too. I think it is a a real task to go into a restaurant and deliver the food there to a high standard if you ar not a chef, so hats of to them. Kind of think the profs should really know what they are doing anyway. But love Monica and the facial expressions when they do the participants do the tasks.

Doggybiccys · 26/07/2020 12:48

@Acrasia - I worked overseas for a while and got completely addicted to the Australian one - it’s brilliant!!

HowLongCanICallitBabyWeight · 26/07/2020 12:51

MasterChef Australia is the best one hands down. Haven't watched it this season though since they changed all the judges. I don't watch the UK one anymore, including professionals, although I have been watching bits of the current celebrity one

Timesdone · 26/07/2020 12:52

I wish they'd drop the celebrity one, I just don't see the point of it. I've hardly know who any of them are and some struggle with the most basic stuff, they'd never make it into the amateur version. The Professional one is excellent though.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 26/07/2020 12:53

I like the jo public ones, I don’t like the daft bit where they both have to cook the same meal from behind a wall

Jinglebellissimo · 26/07/2020 12:57

@june2007 actually that’s true, there’s a restaurant where I live that was opened up by two former finalists and the food is fantastic - so to think they went from amateur to running it is quite amazing really.

Acrasia · 26/07/2020 13:04

@HowLongCanICallitBabyWeight I wasn’t sure what to think about bringing in new judges, but I think it was genius to introduce them in a season with returning contestants. I am now a full on Melissa fan, I want her to judge everything I do!

habibihabibi · 26/07/2020 13:06

I wish they would do a British version of nailed it.

Jinglebellissimo · 26/07/2020 13:09

@habibihabibi ooh who could present it?

TheIckabog · 26/07/2020 13:16

Absolutely! We love the Professionals one but can’t stand the others. I suppose it’s because DH and I are foodies and enjoy eating out at naice restaurants so we love seeing the sort of creations they all come up with. I also love it when they go and work at top restaurants later on in the series, I love having that sneak peak inside the Michelin world!

We were particularly delighted to see them work with Claude Bosie one season as we have been to both his restaurants (DH took me to Hibiscus for our engagement and we went to Bibendum for our one year wedding anniversary). By far the best meal we have ever ever eaten. It was sublime.

TheIckabog · 26/07/2020 13:18

Claude Bosi I mean, not Bosie

Bonus also was that Adele was at Hibiscus having dinner with her now-ex husband. We didn’t talk to her though, when she realised we had recognized her she gave me a massive evil death stare across the room so I was too scared to talk to her Grin

amusedbush · 26/07/2020 13:22

Yessss I only watch the professional one. I also have a shameful crush on Marcus Wareing Blush

ShirleyPhallus · 26/07/2020 13:24

The celeb one is rather shit, they aren’t even celebrities and can never cook

Then jonty and greggggg have to resort to really shit, vague compliments like “it was well seasoned” and “the mash was smooth”

SpacePug · 26/07/2020 13:24

I love MasterChef but I said the opposite to my DH, I prefer the celebrity one, then regular one then the professionals the least. I'm also watching the professionals on netflix but keeping up with the celeb one the most

Xuli · 26/07/2020 13:26

Professionals is our telly highlight of the year. Have they been able to film it this year?

I still have a bit of a crush on Lawrence who won it the other year Blush

SociallyDistantPenguin · 26/07/2020 13:30

I like the celebrity one! I obviously have poor taste though because I also like the early episodes of bake off when there are still contestants who can't make a basic sponge cake, and the start of Strictly Come Dancing when they still have the no-hopers in too!

EspressoPatronum · 26/07/2020 13:33

American MasterChef here. So bad it's good!

MsJuniper · 26/07/2020 15:45

DH & I agree the hierarchy is:
Professionals
Amateurs
Celebrities

We watch 'em all though. I do quite like getting to know a random celeb who I've never heard of but has a talent for cooking.

Presumably it'll be a while before we get a new series of any kind after the current one.
