Posting here for traffic mainly so apologies!

Me and my husband drink vodka and coke on the weekend
However, went to the supermarket yesterday and realised that we're drinking around 6 bottles of Coke Zero a week (this isn't only with vodka) which is costing around £9 just on fizzy drinks! So I'm after saving a few pennies
I know the obvious answer is to just drink water during the week but... I don't want to so I'm not going to.

Does anyone buy own brand diet cola and which one have you found is the best?

I'm a cola snob and drink way more of it than I should, we also came to the same realisation of spending too much money on coke zero/Pepsi max. So be tried many many supermarket cheap versions! Blush
The only two that I like is Aldi's (not sure of the name but it's about £0.50) or Tescos Xero Cola (£0.50)

Anthilda · 24/07/2020 10:29

Aldi or asda

MamaGothel · 24/07/2020 10:30

We are also big cola drinkers and I've never found anything that comes close to the two big brands. I try to limit how much cola I drink now and if I fancy something fizzy in the week I have a lemonade instead. Cheap lemonade is quite nice I think.

pregnancydiet · 24/07/2020 10:30

M&S

dobbyssoc · 24/07/2020 10:33

Asda.
However like PP we now drink cheap lemonade. The asda/Tesco 17p one is really nice

kissmysass · 24/07/2020 10:33

Could you invest in a soda stream instead and use Coke syrup? I don't know how expensive the syrup is but it must be cheaper than £9 a week!

Appuskidu · 24/07/2020 10:34

Lidl or Tesco

Starbuggy · 24/07/2020 10:41

I’m a Diet Coke snob I’m afraid. I’ve nothing against supermarket brands and for some things I prefer them, but not managed to find one that tastes as good as Diet Coke, they always taste too sweet.

I switch to Squash if I’m trying to cut back on fizzy stuff. Or if I wanted fizzy but cheaper I’d go for lemonade because own brand lemonade is nicer than own brand cola.

Sorry, not much help there!

TrickorTreacle · 24/07/2020 10:43

Pepsi Max > Coke Zero!

lyralalala · 24/07/2020 10:45

I drink Tesco's. It's not the same as Coke, but it's nice enough that I don't miss Coca-Cola when I'm drinking it

(Which is actually annoying as I switched hoping to cut down)

Mollypolly2610 · 24/07/2020 13:05

Barr’s Diet cola is excellent but Aldis is good too. Keeps its fizz

JaffaJaffJaffpussycatpuss · 24/07/2020 13:08

I almost never buy branded stuff but can't find a replacement for my diet coke.

WishingOnACarrot · 24/07/2020 14:50

Lidl own brand used to taste identical to coca cola. I'm talking 25 years ago though....

Terralee · 24/07/2020 15:09

Tesco Xero is as nice as Coke Zero I think.

user327253 · 24/07/2020 15:35

Following. Recently counted up how much money I'm wasting on Diet Coke. There has been a lot less offers on the big boxes of cans recently and I refuse to buy it full price now. Diet Coke is my smoking replacement (haven't smoked in years but only get cravings when I try to give up diet coke...its the throat hit and all other fizzy drinks are too sweet) so I don't want to give it up. I just get fizzy water if I can't get Diet Coke on offer, but it's not the same. I need it in a can, it goes flat too quickly in bottles. I haven't even been able to find knock of Diet Cola in cans for a long time.

JizzPigeon22 · 24/07/2020 15:40

If you’ve got enough vodka in it it doesn’t matter what coke you use Grin

Fressia123 · 24/07/2020 15:43

I've tried them all... Lidls is the best... Diet Freeway . Aldis is ok but not as good...

Is that the Aldi version of Coke Zero or the Diet? I can never work out which one I like.
Doyouknowthisisnotmyname · 24/07/2020 15:47

Sainsburys own brand cola zero equivalent. 60 p or there about. I thinks it's the nicest

Hopeisnotastrategy · 25/07/2020 05:03

Diet Coke has gone right off recently, not nearly as much fizz as it used to have. Funnily enough it started when there was a world shortage of the gas they use.

honeygirlz · 25/07/2020 05:42

6 x 1 litre or 2 litre?

Tesco often have offers for 24 cans of Coke Zero for £6.50. I’d stock up.

Mumdiva99 · 25/07/2020 05:45

Aldi have an ok one.

squeekums · 25/07/2020 06:11

Ive never found a knock off coke thats even close
Im a coke snob

Northernsoullover · 25/07/2020 06:13

Lidl Freeway cola is indistinguishable from the real thing imo..

devildeepbluesea · 25/07/2020 06:16

Honestly never notice the difference, I just buy the own brand of whatever shop I'm in. Weirdly however DSis gave me a real Diet Coke the other day and I found it very sickly.
