AIBU to ask you what the best own brand cola is?

Posting here for traffic mainly so apologies!

Me and my husband drink vodka and coke on the weekend
However, went to the supermarket yesterday and realised that we're drinking around 6 bottles of Coke Zero a week (this isn't only with vodka) which is costing around £9 just on fizzy drinks! So I'm after saving a few pennies
I know the obvious answer is to just drink water during the week but... I don't want to so I'm not going to.

Does anyone buy own brand diet cola and which one have you found is the best?

I know this is not helping but last time I was in Greece, I tried this local Cola with Pure Stevia and it was heavenly. It was called Vikos or Bikos in a black bottle.
Absolutely, fell in love and it didn’t spike my sugar levels. Came back but I couldn’t bring myself to spend £5 on 6 little tiny bottles to order it online.
The quest continues.

I drink way too much pop, pepsi max is about the only thing I can drink. Nausea from strong medications make it hard to drink enough if I don't like the taste. I've tried a few own brand versions but it's really all I spend anything on so it doesn't hit too hard! I get coke zero when it works out cheaper but I find it doesn't hold it's fizz at all.

For those mentioning ALDI own brand stuff, is it the max or the zero version people like? I tried the max version and it tastes like smoke to me, I couldn't even swallow it. Really strong taste. I might try the zero version though if people rate it!

@GoldilocksAndTheThreePears sorry to hear you’re on strong medication. Why do you drink it? It can’t be good for you.

Anybody would be v v unreasonable to drink anything other than classic Coca Cola, even diet is Envy

Keeva2017 · 25/07/2020 07:58

Aldi zero is the closest we have found to Pepsi Max which is our favourite.

SomewhereInbetween1 · 25/07/2020 08:37

Morrison's zero is fantastic

I was really pleasantly surprised by Tesco Xero. It’s not the same but it’s pretty good and excellent value.

I like Asda and Sainsburys

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/07/2020 08:55

I did a sample test over a few weeks two or thee years ago - diet brands not sugary - I think it was the lidl freeway that I settled on, but tried to wean myself off.
Have always liked, but recently been drinking a lot more of, dinger beer - waitrose own brand is delicious.
ANd great with rhubarb gin.

GreyGardens88 · 25/07/2020 08:58

I normally have Lidl Freeway (but always the diet one when)
Or the Sainsburies one

Both cost around 35/40p compared to at least £1.50 for real diet coke, so it's worth the savings even if they taste a bit inferior

Chocoholic12 · 25/07/2020 09:07

Tesco cheap coke is lush

GlittercheeksOakleaf · 25/07/2020 09:09

Aldi zero is my favourite. Their own lemonade is good too.

MummytoCSJH · 25/07/2020 09:12

Also a coke snob. Aldi's diet is the only own brand one I can drink but it's still nowhere close to the real thing. I'd look for better offers on the proper stuff.
