Trying to choose mine, looking for inspiration!

Would be particularly interested to see dresses worn by ladies with my body type (tall, reasonably slim, biggish boobs and hips with a flatter bum).

But mainly just wanted to be nosy!

Mine was the Lillian West 6422 in the ivory/ivory colourway - not the nude/ivory pictured. Had some extra appliqué added to the “v” Neckline so it wasn’t so low. You can hook the train underneath so it’s not as long as well! Whereabouts are you based OP? I can recommend a lovely bridal shop near High Wycombe - they really know their stuff and don’t hard sell.

@Graphista thank you for taking the time to post your advice, I will definitely remember & take it on board. Very kind of you. I had no idea a dress cod be taken in up to 3 sizes so will keep an open mind as to the size 14/16s.

Love looking through all these photos.

I wore a white sari with gold and silver embellishment. Just because I love them.

This was mine. I've never felt more beautiful. My advice would be to wear something comfortable. It's such a long day!

HettySunshine such a beautiful dress. I love the flowers on the waistband.

I love this thread!

Photo of mine attached although nearly 14 years ago now, all 41 layers of it at the height of the "Hollywood Dreams" trend although this was Ronald Joyce. I wanted a 50s style although modern.
I am 5' 9" and busty. This dress was great as the boning was so strong it pulled you in and actually had slightly padded boobs to compensate where it had pulled you in!

Do I regret being a princess? Nah, I'd wear it again tomorrow but sadly it wouldn't touch the sides now!

@op you're most welcome. I loved working in the wedding industry it was certainly an education in many ways!

I've helped brides with destination weddings (from Caribbean to North Pole!), and weddings of all budgets you don't have to spend loads but being open minded and flexible really helps with all aspects of getting married (and with marriage!)

inchoccyheaven · 24/07/2020 22:28

This is me and dw. She wore cloak and a jumpsuit as hates dresses and mine was a dark champagne colour with detailing on the top half. I loved it and felt incredible for the day

This was mine in the shop. I’m 5’5 so not particularly tall (had to have it taken up at the front so I could walk), but I’m an E cup and size 12.

I went into the shop wanting a white A line dress with long sleeves in a plain fabric, with no train, and left with an embellished champagne fishtail with short sleeves and a train! But I felt so fantastic in it I didn’t want to take it off.

Yes! I'd forgotten about bridal jumpsuits there's some really gorgeous ones out there!

I once had a bride who wore a sort of dress version of a dinner suit but in pastel blue - very hard to explain - which she topped off with a dove grey top hat festooned with ribbons

TheGlitterFairy · 24/07/2020 22:42

Mine was Pronovias - the white one - dress style, Tamara. Loved it then and love it now!!

@Drknickerbocker09 and @emsyj37 - love both of your dresses. Actually all the dresses are gorgeous. @sugarplumfairy2010 - your dress is not at all boring and plain - it's elegant and beautiful.

@Megan2018

This is mine, but I’m short and not big boobed.
@Megan2018

Your husband looked terrifying

KarenKuruma · 25/07/2020 09:14

I'm getting married today (whoop whoop! 🎉), I'll put pictures on later for you. I'm 5'10 with wide hips and big boobs, and DP 5'8 with narrower hips (than me, but still not small) but also big of boob.

Lonecatwithkitten · 25/07/2020 09:22

I am not tall, but have a 1950s body type, boobs, hips, bum and mum tum with small waist.
I have not yet worn it due to Covid/illness. I was a bespoke make from the lovely ladies at Forget me knot designs on the Isle of Wight ( despite being bespoke they are similar and sometimes cheaper than off the peg with no fitting costs).
Second time around for me hence not white.

There are some beautiful dresses here.
Mine, 30 years ago in Princess Diana era was light pink, with a very frilly back and, at the time, I felt fab.
Looking back, I wish I'd gone for something more classic as there is absolutely no way my DD would ever consider wearing it. I'd have loved to wear my Mum's but she is only just 5' and I'm 5' 8" so that was never going to be a possibility.

2 pieces of advice I was given was to ensure you wear the same bra for you fittings/alterations that you'll wear on the day. Same for the bridesmaids. Also, if they have short dresses, get them fitted at the same time wearing their wedding shoes then the dresses will all be at the same level - I was a bit Confused at this but when I see my photos compared to some of my friends, it looks so much better.

Looking back, I'd probably go for my bridesmaids dress if I was to go back in time.

This was mine. Completely different style to the one I thought I'd have! Weird cropping out the husband just then though, hope I never have to do that 😂 15 years next month ❤️
