I've gained a bit of weight over lockdown. I'm normally very slim, but I am finding it difficult to know where I stand with my new weight as none friends of my friends are taller than 5 foot 6. I'm finding it difficult to read group chats of friends who have gained but are still weighing less than I was previously. I think I was too slim before but that has clouded my judgement of what is normal and I am worrying about my gain as I'm not used to seeing myself like this, so I'd like a bit of perspective and to see what feels healthy and good for other women.

If you are a lady 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 11 (or taller!), I'd love to know the weights you are comfortable at. I'm 5 foot 10 FYI.

A bit over 5ft 7. Best weight is 9st 4lbs - 7lbs. Current weight is 10st 8lbs. I’d love to get down below 10st again.

Clumsyduck · 23/07/2020 20:04

It’s funny really how different weights look different on everyone And how fat distribution is also different I’m 5ft8 and currently 10.4 stone that’s basically my ideal weight Iv been up as much as 12.5 a year or so back and got back to target earlier this year and hoping to stay there again !

At this weight I get into a size ten on the whole and my stomach is flat however I still carry excess weight on my thighs buttttt if I lose any more weight That’s needed for the slim thighs my face looks incredibly gaunt my arms Like sticks and my boobs shrink . Sigh

So Il stick with the bigger thighs

Captainj1 · 23/07/2020 20:13

I’m 5’8.5’’ and weigh 60kg (9st 7). I’ve been as low as 57kg but all my weight is on my arse/thighs and at 57kg I looked ill. Ideally I’d be a couple of pounds lighter than I am now but that’s all. I’m 45 and sunken temples and cheeks are not a good look, wish I could pump some fat from my arse up there...my upper body is skinny, flat stomach, but legs very muscular from decades of sport when I was younger.

I'm 5"7 I think 10-7 stone is about right for me, I've quite a wide pelvis and narrow waist though so I look better with a bit of weight on or I look a bit like a under weight cow with protruding pelvic bones. I'm a bit above that at the moment, but pregnant so cant do alot about it at

littlecrocodiles · 23/07/2020 20:14

5ft 9 and 11st 8. Aiming to get under 11st, ideally 10st 10lb (150lb).

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 23/07/2020 20:31

5'9" I'm currently 13 stone but want to be 10-10.5 max

insideoutsider · 23/07/2020 21:19

I'm 5ft9 and currently 10st.3. I'm trying to gain weight and I think I'll look better (to myself) at 11 stone. I will be very uncomfortable but I'm hoping to get used to it because I'm currently all bones and ribs :-(

I guess my real happy comfortable place will be 10st.7.

MrsWarleggan · 23/07/2020 21:27

I'm 5'11 and was really happy when I got married at 11st 3lb. Did weight watchers. Currently 12st 9lb and hate it..... I'm an odd shape though... Got size 10 long lean legs but then no bum and a broad, long tummy at a size 14-16. The only trousers/jeans I can wear are high waisted... Otherwise its a nasty case of the old 🐫 😂😂😂

Purpleberet · 23/07/2020 21:29

I'm 5'9" and usually around 65kg (10 stone 3lb)
I don't pay too much attention to my weight, more how I fit into my clothes. I'm usually a 10 on top and 10-12 on my bottom half.

Would love to be a bit slimmer but I'm a massive foodie so it's not worth the calorie counting! For me I'm at the best middle ground of being fairly happy with my size but also not sacrificing too much with what I eat.

goose1964 · 23/07/2020 21:53

5" 7' but I weigh heavy for my size , I've never been skinny but was slim between 9 1/2 and 10 stone comfortable up to 11 and now far too much but I'm still in a smaller size clothes than other people my weight say they wear.

@Reasonsnottobeanidiot

Thank you all for your replies, they've made me feel so reassured and much more comfortable. It's difficult when your shorter friends refuse to believe you are the weight you are, without taking height etc into account (this makes it sound like we discuss it all the time. We don't, it was one conversation, but I did not leave it feeling good!).

One plus side of height - despite my weight gain my skinny jeans still fit as there is much more person for the pounds to spread out across!

Yes I have had this too. Again we don't constantly talk about it but it has come up a couple of times in the 20 odd years!

Iv had short(er) friends who would be obese at my weight (not my current fatness but when I was a healthy weight I mean) but they hear my for example 10.5 or 11 stone and look horrified or unbelievably at me and say things like oh god you don't look it or you carry it well or no you can't be your scales must be broken that's big! All real examples of things said to me

It's quite annoying because they (not all!) don't seem to understand that my weight number is the equivalent to their lower weight number in comparison to our body's i.e. I can carry more weight because there is more of me to carry it.
They just seem to hear the number and don't attach any logical thought to it.

One particular friend I am 4 or 5 inches taller so I obviously should weigh several stone more just to be in a healthy weight range.

Personally I'm not massively arsed about my or others weight and I find people who are obsessed quite boring but for my health I would like to lose a couple of stone.

Flyingnutsack · 23/07/2020 23:52

5’’8. Just about comfortable weight is 10 stone. Happier at 9.8
