I've gained a bit of weight over lockdown. I'm normally very slim, but I am finding it difficult to know where I stand with my new weight as none friends of my friends are taller than 5 foot 6. I'm finding it difficult to read group chats of friends who have gained but are still weighing less than I was previously. I think I was too slim before but that has clouded my judgement of what is normal and I am worrying about my gain as I'm not used to seeing myself like this, so I'd like a bit of perspective and to see what feels healthy and good for other women.

If you are a lady 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 11 (or taller!), I'd love to know the weights you are comfortable at. I'm 5 foot 10 FYI.

5'8or 9. No.idea what I weigh, but I think it used to be between 68-70kg. I look better at 68. Size 12 bottom and 10-12 top. Waist usually 28inches, so when it goes up, i know I'm I..trouble.

EhUp · 23/07/2020 09:03

I'm 5'8.5"

My weight is usually somewhere between 10 stone and 10.5 stone (currently 10 4)

I don't like going above 10.5 stone but that's just a personal thing and because my clothes start getting tight, I could probably go up to 11 stone before people noticed I'd gained weight if I was careful how I dressed.

I'm a pear shape with a very small bust so if I do gain weight it all goes on my hips, thighs & bum! (I'd probably still have skiing arms and a reasonaby defined waist even if I put on a couple of stone)

DelurkingAJ · 23/07/2020 09:04

5’10” and 75ish kg which on me is a 12 in most shops and I’m happy enough. Would be delighted to be 70kg again but accept that I’d need to get some exercise.

EhUp · 23/07/2020 09:04

Skinny not skiing!

Fluffymulletstyle · 23/07/2020 09:05

I've been many weights over the years at 5 foot 8.

I've found 68-72kg my ideal weight but hard to Maintain. 65kg I did not look in proportion and more and over 74kg chub is setting in.

I'm currently well over that post children but working to get back to that.

I'm pretty robust looking too, slimmer framed people may be lighter.

AccountAntsy · 23/07/2020 09:05

5’10 and I look good (IMO) at 12 stone. I’m even fairly happy up to about 14 although I know that’s overweight. I think it depends how you carry your weight, I’m quite hourglass so it tends to go on my breasts and bum rather than my stomach.

Considerably more than that at the moment and working on it Confused

MaggieAndHopey · 23/07/2020 09:07

I am 5 foot 9. I am currently 10 stone 7, and a size 12. That weight is fairly easy for me to maintain but I feel better when I'm closer to 10 stone. At my slimmest I was 9 and a half stone with Graves' disease and the famed 'cheerleader thighs', at my biggest I was nearly 13 stone and a size 14-16, I was powerlifting so I was power eating too!

SerenityNowwwww · 23/07/2020 09:07

5”7 - was under 8 for ages (then age/stress/baby) and now I am around 9.5 and feel very uncomfortable and heffalumpy.

ArthurMorgan · 23/07/2020 09:08

I'm on the cusp of 6ft, 14 stone is my happy weight. Any lower than that and I started to look ill. I'm way above that atm though Blush

Wolfgirrl · 23/07/2020 09:10

5'9, 10 stone 7.

Anything between 10 and 11 stone is fine for me. Over 11 and I would probably just drop the treats etc.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 23/07/2020 09:13

I’m a shade under 5’9”. Fairly small frame so I look bigger at a lower weight, if that makes sense.

I’m comfortable at 9st 7lb.
My ‘happy weight’ is 9st 4lb.
I’m currently 10st and feel pretty lardy but am lacking the motivation to lose the last half stone of baby weight!

1940s · 23/07/2020 09:17

5ft 7 and my natural weight is about 9 stone. That's when I feel my best. The biggest I've been (not pregnant) was about ten stone and all the weight went to my face / tummy and didn't suit me at all. If I creep under 9 stone by a lb or two then I feel great but any less and I look poorly

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 23/07/2020 09:22

5'7"
A good weight range formed is between 10 - 10.5 st.
Any less than that and people start thinking I'm turning anorexic.
I don't know what I weigh now, but i feel reasonably happy with what I'm seeing in the mirror.

greysome · 23/07/2020 10:11

5'9 (and a half) and 10 stone. I'm happy anywhere between 9.5 stone and 10.5 stone.

Reasonsnottobeanidiot · 23/07/2020 11:59

Thank you all for your replies, they've made me feel so reassured and much more comfortable. It's difficult when your shorter friends refuse to believe you are the weight you are, without taking height etc into account (this makes it sound like we discuss it all the time. We don't, it was one conversation, but I did not leave it feeling good!).

One plus side of height - despite my weight gain my skinny jeans still fit as there is much more person for the pounds to spread out across!

EarlGreyJenny · 23/07/2020 12:06

5'9"and a half tall. Currently 10.5 stone which is a stone over where i was pre lockdown and where I feel best but I have a small frame.

Pantheon · 23/07/2020 12:14

I'm 5 ft 10 and currently about 10 and a half stone. I prefer being around 10st. Anything under that I look too thin. At the moment I have a bit too much on my tummy and thighs than I'd like. If I was more toned/athletic then I don't think I'd mind whatever weight. It's more about if you have muscle or extra fat I think.

Pantheon · 23/07/2020 12:15

I should add I also have a small frame. Tiny wrists

EmberElftree · 23/07/2020 12:26

5'8" 34G hourglass & short waisted. Long slim legs & arms. All weight goes on my stomach so I go from 8 to 0 when I carry too much weight.

Lowest adult weight I was 11.5 stone and looked very slim. Happy at 13 stone, look and feel great. Haven't been 9 stone since I was 17!

Your shape and how and where you carry your weight is very complex. Nurses are always surprised when they weigh me because they assume I'd weigh less than I do.

AlphaDalpha · 23/07/2020 12:29

I'm 5ft 8 and I'm happy at 8 1/2 stone post children.

Lockdown has pushed me to 9 1/2 stone as I've eaten and not exercised!

Cloudhopping · 23/07/2020 12:32

I’m 5 foot 9 and 11 stone 7 at the moment. I feel I’m too big. However, I’m nearly 49 and think that a bit of extra ‘filling out’ is probably a good thing now I’m a bit older. I’m normally happy around 11stone but I’m finding it hard to lose weight despite living quite healthily so thinking I may just learn to be happier with a bit of extra weight. I’m a size 14 mostly (sometimes a size 12).

MamaPip · 23/07/2020 12:34

5’7 6 months pp and 61 kg I want to get back to 58kg which is where I am most comfortable but unable to diet when breastfeeding as it makes me lightheaded .

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 23/07/2020 12:39

I'm 5ft 7. I'm currently just over 11st and this is a little high for me. I'm comfortable/healthy at 10st, and can stay at that weight easily while eating normally (normal for me being about 1500 calories a day) doing 45 mins of exercise 2-3 times a week.

I was 9 and half stone on my wedding day and that's as low as I would want to go as an adult - below that I start to lose my boobs completely which makes my hips look wide & out of balance.

JeSuisPoulet · 23/07/2020 12:47

@EmberElftree yes the boob size is something I find confusing when women talk about weight - such variations that you'd think you'd have to put in height and breast size when looking at BMI etc. On that note DD doesn't look like a DD on taller people, I find and people seem surprised I'm that "big" because on a smaller person that would give cleavage. I have fairly broad shoulders so that makes a difference too.

Glad it's helped you OP Smile

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/07/2020 12:48

I'm 5'7. Currently extremely overweight at 15st8. Will be happy to get under 12st, happiest around 10st7-11st. I don't seem to get much under that... Broad shoulders! I don't look healthy under 10st... The one time I dropped to this was during Morning Sickness.

(I was over 16st at the beginning of July. It's progress in the right direction but have a long way to go.)
