To think it's disgusting to stick your tongue out in photos

I probably am being unreasonable.

But I think it's revolting when you see photos of people with their tongues sticking out.

Why do people do this?

OP posts:

You're right, completely uncouth. But why do young women especially, feel the need to have their mouths wide open in photographs, anyway?

Bluntness100 · 21/07/2020 12:59

Doesn’t bother me at all and I don’t find tongues gross.

That's the least of the issues with a lot of the social media posts these days.

I'm all for girls loving their bodies and feeling comfortable showing them, but I hate that many of them feel that they need to dress and pose provocatively all in the pursuit of 'likes'.

Cheeseandwin5 · 21/07/2020 13:26

@Orphlids
So no, OP, you are not being unreasonable. I would genuinely rather see a cock

I am sue your DH will be please next time he gives you a kiss.....
(smile)

sbhydrogen · 21/07/2020 13:28

Looks childish and a bit dumb, but other than that it's not disgusting. Does ruin a photo though.

Oldestchild90s · 21/07/2020 13:34

Not disgusting just chavvy, like putting your fingers up, or pointing at the person next to you, or pouting 😂

It's not my kind of thing but each to their own!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 21/07/2020 13:39

Nope.

I have photos of my Mum and her friends in the 60's and 70's dressed in what can only be described as crotch-length skirts in all manner of poses. Do you truly believe that it's only the current generation of young women who dress in short/tight clothing? Women have done this since forever and it's their right to do so without being labelled "provocative".

Pinkyyy · 21/07/2020 13:41

@FudgeBrownie2019 that's not what I meant, I have no issue with that at all, I like to show some leg myself. It's when girls feel like they have to dress a certain way that I struggle with.

mineofuselessinformation · 21/07/2020 13:47

One of my favourite photos with my dcs is the one where dc2 is photo-bombing (with tongue firmly stuck out) dc1 and me. Said dc1 and I are roaring with laughter because we could see them!

The80sweregreat · 21/07/2020 13:50

I was taught that poking your tongue out was rude! I hated The Rolling Stones album cover with the big tongue too!
I know I'm a bit odd.
There are worse things..

Bargainhuntbore · 21/07/2020 14:00

Its not disgusting but i shudder when i see grown women taking photos using silly filters sticking their tongue out.

Emeraldshamrock · 21/07/2020 14:03

Young ladies always pushed the boundaries with clothing. I thought I was Christina Aguilera at one point. Blush
I respect their youth it is part of the fun of growing up.
Some tongue or open mouth poses can be cheeky fun others can be provocative mouth open with I want to suck your dick pose.

TheNoodlesIncident · 21/07/2020 14:07

I don't like it either Blush Just the tip is one thing, but those pictures a PP posted were grim.

I don't like seeing people eating either, I have to look away. I spend the chefs' tasting part of Bake Off staring at our curtains and asking DH to tell me when they're done.

I don't know why I have these aversions. Clearly would be a rubbish dentist 😋😛😝

The80sweregreat · 21/07/2020 14:17

Was watching a comedy on bbc where the girl kept on eating and talking!
It was horrible.
Another thing I was taught was rude !
I had strict parents! Lol

Crankley · 21/07/2020 15:54

'Disgusting' is a bit OTT and I'm not sure it's worse than every photo of a person with a hand over their face or the back of their head

Biancadelrioisback · 22/07/2020 16:46

My tongue is my party trick!
I can do all sorts with it including the clover and touch my nose. It's super long too. Comes in handy, especially when eating a yogurt

skybluee · 22/07/2020 17:56

I think people can get offended by anything...

Completelyfrozen · 22/07/2020 23:28

When I was young, it was considered rude to poke your tongue out.
When I see photos of fully grown adults poking their tongues out, it makes me roll my eyes inwardly.
It looks like they're trying too hard to be fun/cheeky/rebellious!
It doesnt conjure up any of those things, it just looks rude and ridiculous, just like the people who stick one or two fingers up to the camera, unnecessary and attention seeking.
Do they do it for likes?

ClarabelleClanger · 22/07/2020 23:34

Disgusting and moronic. I've always hated it.

Sounds absolutely revolting. What the F is 'do the clover'?

NameChange84 · 22/07/2020 23:39

I don’t think it’s disgusting.

It’s very pathetic though and quite a strange thing for a grown adult to do. Quite a let down really.

LockdownLoser · 22/07/2020 23:50

It slightly bugs me, I think it looks stupid. I had very winky teeth until 2 years ago and would just smile with a closed mouth. Piking out tongues and what not on every picture draws attention to the area because i would wonder what they are hiding.

Wynston · 22/07/2020 23:52

I admit I do it.....its an embarrassment thing hate having photos done and this seems to make it bearable?
My teeth are bad so I am possibly subconsciously hiding them??

YourVagesty · 22/07/2020 23:52

I agree OP. It always makes me think of Kerry Katona and she's not exactly somebody to emulate.

SionnachGlic · 23/07/2020 00:15

It is annoying, silly & immature.... I always used to feel sorry for Liam Hemsworth with Miley sticking the tongue out all the time & him trying to look dignified & professional...
