To think it's disgusting to stick your tongue out in photos

I probably am being unreasonable.

But I think it's revolting when you see photos of people with their tongues sticking out.

Why do people do this?

I am disgusted at the sight of a tongue in photos too. There’s no element of decision here - I don’t choose to feel disgusted, it is just my reaction. So no, OP, you are not being unreasonable. I would genuinely rather see a cock. It does often seem to be people with the IQ of a donkey who stick their tongues out for photos. Particularly hideous when they have their tongue pierced and obviously want to get their money’s worth by reminding us of that fact at every opportunity.

My goodness.

EggbertHeartsTina · 21/07/2020 11:23

I think sticking tongues out is rude in general so I don’t like pics like that. Although I definitely used to do it myself when younger Blush

zigaziga · 21/07/2020 11:23

Not as bad as the duck pout but I would probably delete a photo if an adult had their tongue poking out because it’s hardly a photo that I’m going to want to keep and frame or look back on. I don’t feel like it’s actually disgusting though.

Inkpaperstars · 21/07/2020 11:25

I don't find it disgusting but I do find it ridiculous. Why do people do it? How did the trend start...what's it for? It seems bizarre.

pictish · 21/07/2020 11:29

I’m going to agree. I don’t want to see your tongue thanks. I also equate this tongue out thing with unnecessary woo-hooing and ‘rock on’ gestures with fingers. Please go away.

yes yes! i wonder if it's a young person's thing (I'm mid 40s) but the whoooping... neighbours having parties and all the wooping... just why????
lifesalongsong · 21/07/2020 11:32

It's pathetic, childish and makes the person doing it look like a proper tit but you must have a very low tolerance to think it's disgusting.

HarlinRay · 21/07/2020 11:33

Tongue out to look zany or silly- don’t care. Tongue hanging out with dead blank eyes, or tongue poking out between teeth to the side with a fake cheeky little smile- both poses favoured by brain-dead Instagram ‘models’ who facetune themselves into identikit sex cartoons - makes me feel physically ill.

The second post on this thread is my spirit animal 😂😂😂

SixesAndEights · 21/07/2020 11:35

I find it a bit tedious tbh.

FortunesFave · 21/07/2020 11:37

I'm the same OP. But I know that I'm unusual so don't complain. I had an eating disorder and for a long time, equated eating with going to the toilet.

I thought it was disgusting. Something to be done privately. I still have some of those feelings. I don't like eating in company but manage it these days.

strawberrymilkshakemonkey · 21/07/2020 11:39

honestly i just find it super annoying. i find that teens/young women do it trying to look 'cute' or 'quirky' but they just look like a tit.

MondeoFan · 21/07/2020 11:45

Yep it's awful. There is a grown man that does it on my insta, he's very good looking but he does it in almost every photo so I've stopped following him now

nevermorelenore · 21/07/2020 11:56

I don't find it disgusting, just really stupid. I know someone whose facebook is nothing but selfies of her with her tongue out, duck facing, using animal filters or doing that coy 'I'm so silly teehee' pose with hair wrapped round her finger. Would understand if she was a teenager, but she's mid-30s like me and it seems like weird behaviour.

But then again I'm sat on mumsnet this morning so who am I to judge?

oakleaffy · 21/07/2020 11:56

It just looks a bit silly and self- conscious to poke your tongue out in photos.
I don't like it, as have seen otherwise nice group photographs with some grown woman poking her tongue out in a daft way.
🙄

I’d say it’s rude rather than disgusting, in that we were brought up being told you never stick your tongue out at people as it is rude. Why people have to do it in photos beats me. Self-conscious about their smile or their teeth would be my best guess.

SharonasCorona · 21/07/2020 12:05

I totally agree OP!

Miles Cyrus does it a lot and it’s Envy

Trust the DM to have Miley’s tongue out on the homepage of their Femail section (not that I read the DM much! Blush )

YeahWhatevver · 21/07/2020 12:11

Do you get undressed in the dark OP?

Sparklesocks · 21/07/2020 12:22

I think being self conscious is part of it, people might feel a bit insecure about how they look generally or how they appear in photographs so if they make it a ‘silly’ one then it doesn’t matter if they don’t look perfect because they’ve taken control.

lilgreen · 21/07/2020 12:45

I hate it. My teen DDs do it sometimes. It’s just a fad.

thecatneuterer · 21/07/2020 12:47

I voted YANBU but now wish I'd voted YABU. It's stupid and a bit cringey, and I certainly think less of people who do it, but it's not disgusting.

Pinkyyy · 21/07/2020 12:52

I completely agree, it's awful.

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 21/07/2020 12:54

Disgusting takes on a whole new hyperbolic meaning on MN like.
