Daily Mail advertising takeover

Posting in AIBU for visibility. I turned off my adblocker temporarily to debug another site I'm working on and forgot to turn it back on - and saw that Mumsnet is running a massive Daily Mail advertising takeover. Just in case anyone else is using an adblocker as well and might want to make sure not to support a company that takes advertising money from a fascist rag, thought I'd put this out there.

I am trying to decide whether just to delete entirely as this is a bit of a last straw, or if the fact that I always normally block all the ads anyway means it doesn't matter so much. Maybe MN HQ will make the decision for me, for pointing out that their advertising partner is, indeed, fascist.

I believe people should read across spectrum as much as possible. Every news have an agenda. By seeing the differences one can create quite a good opinion on things. If you ignore "the enemy", no matter which side it is, it means you are getting news which can be quite one sided and that's not good.

@torquewench read what you want, I’ll do the same. But since you asked, if you like conservative news sources, I think that some (not all) of the people who write for the telegraph and times actually have honestly-held convictions and thoughtful opinions- I probably (let’s be honest, definitely) don’t agree with them but at least they’re real. The mail is propaganda- it exists to generate outrage and destabilise society and will push any agenda in order to do so. I can’t think of a left-leaning equivalent but if one existed I would be equally opposed to it.

Having said that, I read news from a variety of sources and papers. They've all got problems. Best you can do is read critically from a variety of sources. 🤷🏻‍♀️
