Why do so many people on here think there is such a word as ALOT?!
It’s A LOT
There is no such word as alot.

Thank you for coming to my hormonal insomniac Ted talk.

YOUS is another one that bugs me. It’s you, plural or singular it’s still YOU.

Dita73 · 16/07/2020 23:49

Our English teacher at school had this on a sign in her room. It really used to drive her nuts So that was one of the first things we learnt

Burpalot · 16/07/2020 23:49

Breaking news; people can't spell.

MushyPeasAreTheDevilsFood · 16/07/2020 23:50

GrinGrinGrin

Under one of those fb memes once asking what you'd write on your fb status to secretly let people know you’d been kidnapped, someone i know wrote they’d know i was sending a cry for help if i used ‘alot’ in a sentence.

sbhydrogen · 16/07/2020 23:52

I've been thinking about this for awhile.

😏 JK, I hate 'alot' (and 'awhile')

MushyPeasAreTheDevilsFood · 16/07/2020 23:53

Ill tell you what pushes me over the cranky edge on fb selling sites,

Need gone.

FlibbertyGiblets · 16/07/2020 23:53

delightful little blog about the Alot [hearteyes]

I would actually say that yous is a dialect word, therefore a word. Yous guys for example is very common in Australian english, but then again, Australian English should be considered its own language imo.
MadameMeursault · 16/07/2020 23:55

TAAT.

And also - yawn.

MsEllany · 16/07/2020 23:56

I think yous is dialect as well, although it makes me think of New Jersey Italian Americans rather than Australians!

I do love the alot. He’s lovely.

Topseyt · 16/07/2020 23:59

I totally agree. It is cringeworthy.

claptomania · 17/07/2020 00:00

Love the Oatmeal!

Or even worse "use". Beloved of my local FB pages.
user1493494961 · 17/07/2020 00:11

This annoys me abit.

ViciousJackdaw · 17/07/2020 00:12

It is ridiculous, it really is. Also see 'aloud' instead of allowed. As for 'yous', it is something we say in my particular dialect but to write it? Good God, no!

ViciousJackdaw · 17/07/2020 00:13

Yes, it gets me annoid to.
Mistymonday · 17/07/2020 00:34

I agree OP. Also cannot bear ‘draws’ when people mean drawers!

campion · 17/07/2020 00:47

Can I just throw in 'everyday'? It means ordinary.

If you actually want to talk about repeated days it's every day.
That little space makes all the difference!!

tabernacles · 17/07/2020 02:07

My sister types alot every time, but she insists it is a typo. She doesn't usually do it with other words (certainly not the same ones every time). I don't know how you can make a specific typo that many times...

betteliefsen · 17/07/2020 02:08

There have been alot of threads like this recently.

h3av3n · 17/07/2020 02:14

Who cares? Not everyone has the same education or skills as you. You know what they mean which is surely all that matters.

Screenburn · 17/07/2020 02:25

Ex of mine used to write “eachother”. Why would a native English speaker think that was correct?!?!

betteliefsen · 17/07/2020 02:30

Because another is one word ?

jpclarke · 17/07/2020 02:35

Collage instead of college drives me insane!!

Goslowlysideways · 17/07/2020 07:48

Definitely is another one.
You must need to change the autocorrect of a lot to alot every single time you type it.

@Burpalot indeed. There are many (many!) things I can’t do but I can spell a lot.
