We are on our 5th day of 37 degree temperatures with heat indexes well over the 40 degree mark. It's hot, miserable and masks just make it worse....IIts almost 5pm and it's well over 30
Degrees. I think I'm melting.

BTW...Remember when they said that Civic would.be.difficult to.transmit due to warm/ hot.temperatures and it would.start to.die.out...They were so incredibly wrong

romeolovedjulliet · 16/07/2020 21:57

Leaannb · 16/07/2020 22:32

@romeolovedjulliet..Nope. I'm in the states..I won't be making it back to the UK this year. First time in 50

Sounds terrible OP!

WeAllHaveWings · 16/07/2020 22:56

I would struggle to live in those temperatures and would spend any money I had on the best air conditioning possible!!!

Max temperature 18 degrees where I am today suits me fine, light jacket and perfect for walking the dog in the morning /evening.

rosiejaune · 17/07/2020 01:05

Look forward to more of it as the effects of climate change increase (which air conditioning only makes worse)...

TheAdhesiveDuckDeficiency · 17/07/2020 03:46

I feel for you. I’m in Ontario, Canada and last week we had about 5 days of temperatures in the high 30s with the humidity making it feel 40-44 with absolutely no cloud cover.

Today’s 25 + humidity felt positively cool! It’s supposed to feel 42 on Sunday with the humidity again Sad

I feel bad wishing for colder weather as I curse the snow when it’s -25 in the winter but something around the 20 mark would be nice for a change...

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/07/2020 03:52

FIL is in Ontario. I've said frequently I don't live in plus or minus 30. Ontario does BOTH.

Scotmum83 · 17/07/2020 04:30

I could have written this, I’m in Houston and should be in the uk for summer 😭 it’s so flipping hot all can do is stay in the ac.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 17/07/2020 04:46

When that was said Covid was transmitting like wildfire in Indonesia so I always knew that was a wishful thinking (or complete bullshit)

After a while when the temp drops to low 30’s it seem cold.

Toilenstripes · 17/07/2020 04:58

Sure, come to Britain where we have the fireplace going in July. 😒

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 17/07/2020 05:19

I love it when its that hot, but where I live has very low humidity and a strong ocean breeze, which makes all the difference! 37 degrees here is more pleasant than 27 in the UK in my experience, although it does help to be at the beach, beside a pool or in the air con. It's mid bloody winter here and pissing down, roll on summer!

robinsnest1967 · 17/07/2020 05:31

I'm in dubai and it was 52 yesterday. And its the law to wear a mask!

speakout · 17/07/2020 06:00

You don't have air con? I thought it was pretty standard in homes, shops cars etc. in Weastern countries.

FiveShelties · 17/07/2020 06:13

9C here in NZ and this week we have had rain, rain and more rain. We were in drought and it is winter, but I am looking forward to seeing some sun.

Although, I have to admit 37C is a little warmGrin

pussycatinboots · 17/07/2020 06:27

Crikey. I get panicky if the temp is forecast over 20! I literally could not survive in so many places.

If you can stick your feet in a bucket of icy cold water. It gradually cools everything down (and yes, i used to do this at work - surreptitiously under the desk Grin)

speakout · 17/07/2020 06:31

I think wherever we live we have challenges.

I lived in rural SE Asia for a while- no air con at all. 34 degrees all year round, including during monsoon season.
We lived like the locals and adapted- no one there works 9-5 for instance, that would be considerd crazy.
I am in Scotland, weather is cold all year, I have had my heating on most days ths month. Weather is gloomy, light levels low, cold and wet all year round. We adapt and cope with it.

Where in Scotland is this if you don't mind saying @speakout? I'll bet it's the west It sounds really miserable. I'm from a very sunny part of Scotland and although it's never tropical there it's a lovely place to live. I live in England now and I find the summers here a bit too hot and humid at times !

Mawbagz · 17/07/2020 07:14

@speakout
@0blio

My money’s on Glasgow!!
Big factor in me moving to England was The weather

taichiFlipper · 17/07/2020 07:19

Ahh, 0blio, sure April and May were glorious in Scotland this year. We always have too high hopes for July and August and they're dashed every year. But it's still lovely and light here late into the night.

Today's a bitch, I'll admit...

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 17/07/2020 07:40

@alwayscrashinginthesamecar1
I want to know where you live. It sounds perfect to me 😍

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 17/07/2020 07:46

This is the real danger we are facing.

Siberia is experiencing a real heatwave. The whole climate system is collapsing. COVID will seem like a small beer when that hits.

eaglejulesk · 17/07/2020 07:53

It's winter here and I'm sick of being cold - you are welcome to it!

waterlego · 17/07/2020 08:52

Toilen Where in Britain would one need to light a fire in July? 😮

I live on the South coast and the climate is perfect for me, though I get grumpy when it exceeds 25 degrees.

eaglejulesk · 17/07/2020 10:50

@FiveShelties - no rain here, just frosty weather and often a cloudy day so it stays icy cold!
