The fucking seagulls have seized my garden and won't let me in it

Stupid twatting seagulls have had babies that are wandering aimlessly around my garden and I get divebombed by the parents if I dare step foot out there. Two days of gorgeous sunshine and I can't let DS play out there because they wouldn't stop flying at our heads and I genuinely think they would attack us if I hadn't gone back inside ran away screaming. Can't even let the dog out for a wee and have to put him on lead, and drag DS down the road every time he needs to go. They woke DS (who usually sleeps 7-7) up at 4am this morning, so we're all knackered and grumpy but seriously. Why are they protected?! Stupid sky rats

I saw a seagull almost knock a guy off his moped today and thought of this thread

Eww seagulls shudders
I used to live near the sea. As in about 100m from it. Those things are an actual nuisance.
Get a fake Eagle. They worked for us. A big scary one. Also weirdly an orange beanbag scared them witless?! We didn't actually deliberately put that there to scare them but literally overnight all birds never came back.

Failing that throw fat chips into next doors garden. They love a bit of ol fish and chips Grin

I am worrying about gull baby. Too small to be out of the nest.

I've scared away noisy robins before (keeping me awake at 3am etc) by playing owl and sparrowhawk calls through my bluetooth speaker.

ShriekyBastards · 16/07/2020 14:00

I'm not actually doing anything about them, and I'm not touching the thing, so those that are worried needn't be. I just posted on here to slag them off. I'm still being held hostage but the sun has fucked off so I'm not as miserable about it now. I am getting really fed up of having to drag the dog and DS out every time dog needs a wee though. He keeps lying on the arm of the sofa in the lounge staring out the window longingly at the garden that his mean owner won't let him into.

We've had scaffolding up for bloody months and they're booked in to take it down in 2 days time. I'm not sure whether I should cancel incase they get dive bombed, but I really want it down. Maybe they'd scare them off? Scaffolding and seagulls gone would mean I well and truly have my garden back Grin

It's a bit of a minefield @ShriekyBastards as there's only so much you can do about it as they're protected.

I hope they clear off soon and feel your pain at having daily life interrupted!

Book in for scaffolding. Tell them to wear hard hats.

If you can get any more piccies of the gulls we'd love it!!!! You should write a children's book with illustrations about it :)

The chick can’t leave until it can fly, so scaring the parents away would be pretty cruel.
