We're going on holiday, booked pre covid. We're both 40 in next two weeks dcs never been abroad (8 & 10).we are staying in London for one day before heading off.
We are trying to do suo aoevosk things. We had planned o m going to the Ritz for afternoon tea, just gone too book and only slot left is 7.30pm. Not ideal.

Quick, any ideas for alternative, equally special things to do?

Claridges?

Andwoooshtheyweregone · 12/07/2020 21:21

Claridges or the shard

HermioneWeasley · 12/07/2020 21:23

The Wellesley. It’s a beautiful 5* Art Deco hotel on Hyde Park Corner but because it’s next to the lanesborough, they only charge £35 for their absolutely delicious afternoon tea, and they bring you extras if you want them. The room they serve tea in is beautiful and not big so feels intimate rather than conveyor belt

ineedaholidaynow · 12/07/2020 21:24

Fortnum and Mason?

Defiantly41 · 12/07/2020 21:24

Fortnums is great for afternoon tea
Harrods?
The Savoy?

The Wellesley

Loving these suggestions. Keep em coming.

Also happy to consider non afternoon tea, but special dining experiences, kids will eat pretty much anything, DH can be a bit fussy mins

The Savoy was amazing.

F&M is next on my list.

ineedaholidaynow · 12/07/2020 21:47

One Aldwych seems to do the Willy Wonka afternoon tea, but I don't know if they are doing it at the moment

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 12/07/2020 21:47

the Shangri-la at the Shard is fabulous, I've been twice and would go back!

Leaannb · 12/07/2020 21:50

@Bubblesbubblesmybubbles...We did the Willie Sonia Afternoon tea at Chesterfield Mayfaire...I don't think they still do the Willie Sonia themed one anymore but their afternoon tea is amazing

HelloViroids · 12/07/2020 21:52

The Wolseley pretty much next to The Ritz. Good for celeb spotting too. They do a lovely afternoon tea and if you can get a table up on the balcony even better.

KatherineJaneway · 12/07/2020 22:16

The Wolseley

milienhaus · 12/07/2020 22:18

Slightly different vibe but Sketch. Some of the rooms are magical.

gerispringer · 12/07/2020 22:18

The Sky Garden is fab, you can walk around and sit in lots of different places, two restaurants and different bars and cafes. It’s open again.

RegalRags · 12/07/2020 22:18

I've been to the savoy, it was honestly the best afternoon tea I've ever had. The service was phenomenal!

StCharlotte · 12/07/2020 22:20

The 7.30 slot at the Ritz includes a glass of bubbly. The Savoy was lovely too. Isn't the Lanesborough supposed to be the best?

Thedogscollar · 12/07/2020 22:21

Claridge's been twice for afternoon tea. It was amazing from beginning to end. The most beautiful room and atmosphere nothing is too much trouble. It was perfect in every way.
