I’m sick of my neighbours putting rotten food in my recycle bin

I have this Romanian living next door to me , they have been throwing rubbish into my garden , putting their smelly rotten foods in my recycle bin , also using their black bin bag in my front door that cats and foxes always ripped it off and the place will be dirty with smelly foods. Our garden wall is short which give them easy access to my garden for them to come and throw their rubbish. I have told them to stop but they keep doing it , I have reported them to the bin men who collect in our area and one of their boss came to warn them to stop putting rubbish but they are still doing The same thing . Yesterday Friday was our collection day my bin was empty but this evening when I went to throw my rubbish into my bin , I saw 3 Lidl bag full of rotten meats which I have put it in front of their bin but I know in the morning they will put it back in my bin again or in front of my house. I am sick and tired and what should I do to stop them , where should I report them please ? I am anxious and having sleepless night because of this please help

BruceAndNosh · 11/07/2020 23:59

Environmental health?

Can you fit a bin lock to yours?

Maryann7819 · 12/07/2020 00:03

Where can I get a bin lock please ?

I think if it is that much of a problem you might need to get CCTV to monitor this. Have you spoken to the EHO at your LA for advice on how to handle this?

Look on your LA website to see if there is a report system for people littering, fly tipping etc. I think that would be my starting point as it's a health issue leaving rotten food about.

Felifox · 12/07/2020 00:12

Try Amazon

cookielove · 12/07/2020 00:15

Why does it matter that they are Romanian???

Hmm
DullDullWeather · 12/07/2020 00:20

Perhaps OP just means she can't talk to them about it as perhaps they don't speak English .

So easy to jump on the "what does it matter where they are from?" etc wagon .

Hmm
Thedogscollar · 12/07/2020 00:20

cookielove Exactly what I thought. Ethnicity has nothing to do with this or has it?

EugenesAxe · 12/07/2020 00:23

Maybe the fact they are Romanian is pertinent because they have less experience of the customs and rules in the UK? Or because there might be a language barrier?

I don’t think that by including it the OP is going all out to attack foreigners...

Sparklesocks · 12/07/2020 00:23

They put your their bin bags on your front door, like in your porch do you mean?
Anything they throw in your garden I would throw back over. I think you need to keep putting anything back that they try dispose of on your property until they get the hint. And yes you can get a bin lock on Amazon.

AriettyHomily · 12/07/2020 00:25

Romanian?

Can't you just google a bin lock?

kazzer2867 · 12/07/2020 00:28

I voted yabu for the mere fact that you had to mention their ethnicity. You have neighbours dumping rotten food in your recycling bin - ethnicity not important (unless you care to elaborate).

Maryann7819 · 12/07/2020 00:28

I am very sorry if I sounded rude by mentioning their ethnicity, I apologise . To be frank with you they are the biggest problem in my area because of the way our area looks so dirty because of them they like throwing things everywhere and they don’t care . It’s really annoying living next to them it has been 7 years of miserable living in this area , I wish I had the money to moved out .

Thanks I will get a bin lock on
Monday even if I get one for my bins that wouldn’t stop them from throwing things in my back garden or in my front door

Maryann, I live in a nice house in a decent area. I have worked all of my life to be able to afford this gaff having previously lived in a cheaper house in a less residential area yet I have never experienced anything like my previous neighbours who returned to Saudi Arabia a couple of months ago.

Ar first we got along until the antisocial behaviour started and quickly escalated. They made my life a misery. It's too much to go into now but suffice to say they filled their own bins with food and the bin men would not take the brown bin or the recycle bin and as they were filled with foodstuffs. There were rats on their driveway which we saw at night.

My car brought two live rats into the house. They scream like humans ! It was awful

Eventually they started putting their food into my bin which I removed and put back into theirs.

Other stuff happened and I had to call the police. Then they planted a bin in my garden and called the police saying I had stolen it. They had even gone as far as to remove my rubbish from my bin and place it into theirs.

I do not know why they became so hostile so quickly but I called the police again and they removed the guy's bin back onto his driveway and gave him a final warning about the rats etc. This seemed to work but it took a long time and I was becoming obsessive about them.
I'm glad to say the bastards have gone and the new rental people are really nice.
Call the police. You do not have to live like this. Find out who the landlord is and send him a letter saying how bad things are. Be proactive. Don't allow them to continue because they will.

EarlLeighIndamornin · 12/07/2020 00:39

I would literally tip the contents of their bags back in their porch.

Anordinarymum · 12/07/2020 00:40

I think I like you :)
kazzer2867 · 12/07/2020 00:45

As others have said try EA, but you will need evidence that it is them. For the recycling bin try Amazon they have a variety of locks:

www.amazon.co.uk/s?ref=nb_sb_noss_1&k=bin+locks&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

GregoryGrainneog · 12/07/2020 00:48

Romanian is not an ethnicity, it's a nationality.

alexdgr8 · 12/07/2020 00:49

call the police and the council, community safety, anti-social behaviour unit.
is their house rented, or yours.
contact the landlord.
consider getting cctv, back and front.
do not despair.

Wingedharpy · 12/07/2020 00:59

Do they have their own bin?

Do they assume that the bins are "communal"?

Adamandtheaunts · 12/07/2020 01:01

Gravity bin lock is what you need...
