I have this Romanian living next door to me , they have been throwing rubbish into my garden , putting their smelly rotten foods in my recycle bin , also using their black bin bag in my front door that cats and foxes always ripped it off and the place will be dirty with smelly foods. Our garden wall is short which give them easy access to my garden for them to come and throw their rubbish. I have told them to stop but they keep doing it , I have reported them to the bin men who collect in our area and one of their boss came to warn them to stop putting rubbish but they are still doing The same thing . Yesterday Friday was our collection day my bin was empty but this evening when I went to throw my rubbish into my bin , I saw 3 Lidl bag full of rotten meats which I have put it in front of their bin but I know in the morning they will put it back in my bin again or in front of my house. I am sick and tired and what should I do to stop them , where should I report them please ? I am anxious and having sleepless night because of this please help

Yes they have their own 2 bins the green one for rubbish and the brown for recycle but they always keep theirs in the garden with nothing inside and they always fill in my bins with rotten food , I don’t even have the space to put my own rubbish and on recycle day their bins is never full because they are using mine

I'd get CCTV

Wingedharpy · 12/07/2020 01:24

Google Romania rubbish disposal op. It's eye opening.

WentworthPrison · 12/07/2020 02:10

"this Romanian"

Wow, just wow!

NeverFit · 12/07/2020 04:52

Would those horrified at the OP describing the person as this Romanian, be so indignant if the term 'this Australian' or 'this German'? It's just a decription.

So long as the OP was factual and did not use a derogatory term, what is the problem?

There are Romanians living around me. It's a multi cultural area. Some of my Romanian neighbours are fastidiously clean and tidy. However one family decided the best way to get rid of used nappies was to toss them all over the back alleyway and into other people's gardens. Gross 😦

It doesn't mean all Romanians are like that. But as in all walks of life in any country in the world, there are nice people and horrible people.

Anordinarymum · 12/07/2020 05:00

Not wanting to detract from the seriousness of the thread but we have Romanians who come onto our street and take anything scrap. I know them well !
I put a sofa out last year and they came and took it. Then they knocked on the door and asked if there was a matching chair :)

Get a motion sensor camera, so you have evidence, make sure it's setto record when its triggered. dont put their stuff back in their garden as you will be done for fly tipping or similar, get a bin lock and report.

RedHelenB · 12/07/2020 08:08

I winder if they need a bigger bin or more bins if there are 10 people in the house. Suggest that they ask the council.about this. I voted yabu because its not worth getting so stressed about, it is annoying though.

Georgielovespie · 12/07/2020 08:29

If you can get a Ring doorbell, or a camera to record what goes on outside your front door/garden. That way you have evidence of their behaviour on camera.

Gravity bin locks automatically open when the bin is inverted as it is on a bin truck. That would stop that issue.

This became a problem in an area close to me. It sounds like it could be an illegal HMO if it's rented and there are ten people living there.
They usually produce ridiculous amounts of rubbish due to the overcrowding, and are usually inhabited by people of other nationalities who use then as a cost saving measure to save money from poorly paid jobs.
I'd report that you think it is an illegal HMO to your local council, in my experience they act quickly to remove them.

WentworthPrison · 12/07/2020 11:01

NeverFit- I wouldn't like it if they said 'this German' or ' this Australian' either.

ilovesooty · 12/07/2020 11:39

@WentworthPrison

NeverFit- I wouldn't like it if they said 'this German' or ' this Australian' either.
Agreed. But it would be unlikely wouldn't it?
Hushabusha · 14/07/2020 20:52

Maybe OP meant to write "this Romanian family" and left out a word?

Here

Every single time they throw litter in your garden -report via 101, direct to them and the council -every single time.

For the sake of your sanity fit CCTV up covering your garden and your bins -I have a ring doorbell and 4 CCTV cameras here and my neighbours are on the whole fine.
For £200 you then have your bins locked and CCTV on your side for any disputes.

labyrinthloafer · 14/07/2020 21:09

You must report, take photos, keep a log. This is an environmental crime due to it involving food/meat and the Council has powers to investigate and take action.

Speak to everyone you can think of - council, councillor, HA, police.

Brefugee · 14/07/2020 21:22

I have this Romanian living next door to me

why is this relevant?

get a gravity lock and stop being racist

slipperywhensparticus · 14/07/2020 21:29

can you get a lockable gate for your porch? I have an open porch area I can fit an open metal gate to it and padlock it

GenevaL · 14/07/2020 21:40

My instinct is for you to tip the entire bin into their garden, the CFs. However, bin locks and cctv would be a more calm approach.

Emeraldshamrock · 14/07/2020 21:48

That is shit OP.
Can you get a lock on it? I'd be livid too I understand you are fearful living alone but my advice is either to call the police or write Fuck off on your bin.
I can't speak for your neighbours though the majority of Roma here are fairly polite so hopefully they won't get violent. I had loud words as have many neighbours without repercussions with a few of them for stealing from the garden or searching a skip I had, they apologise.
Contact the council too.

Post it back to them. With a note to say stop it or you will report them and make it public. I would empty the lot on the door step.

Emeraldshamrock · 14/07/2020 21:58

Romanians are usually associated with gypsies I think people from Romania would disagree. DP's colleague from Romania tells people he is from Hungary as people assume if your Romanian you're a gypsy.
Roma are travellers.

Emeraldshamrock · 14/07/2020 21:59

*you're

LesLavandes · 14/07/2020 22:01

Call the council. Explain they use your bins instead of theirs with rotten food etc. Explain clearly everything.

Tomorrow go and buy bin locks.

Come back and tell us how you get on x

LesLavandes · 14/07/2020 22:03

Also OP, don't get into a disagreement with them now. Please go through official procedures and take photos if you can as evidence
