Today I was in hospital having at CT for suspected clots on the lungs after having raised d-dimer, thankfully this has been ruled out. The CT scan did however show a lesion(sp?) on my liver. Just feeling a bit scared and anxious.

Oh dear, another two days to wait for results! How wearing for you.

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 13:48

@picklemewalnuts yes so annoying. They can't even give me an idea of what it is at this point. So stressful.

dontdisturbmenow · 14/07/2020 14:02

What a horrible time Astrid. So hard to try not to worry. My thoughts are with you. Let Thursday be here quickly and hopefully you can be reassured and move on Flowers

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 14:44

Thank you @dontdisturbmenow still just here waiting the doctors are a little stumped with all the other symptoms as at the moment they don't think the weightloss is down to the lesion on the liver.

Ethelfleda · 14/07/2020 15:17

Just want to come on and give Flowers for you OP. I’m sure you will be absolutely fine though x

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 14/07/2020 15:59

So bloody frustrating for you!

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 16:51

Well they are keeping me in for 24hr ecg

If it is thyroid I would recommend the thyroid uk. Web page for information. Problems in this areas can cause weight loss or weight gain .

Best of luck and hope you get your diagnosis soon .

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 17:16

My thyroid came back clear

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 14/07/2020 18:25

That's a shame- it would have been a straightforward answer at least!

Well, I'm not playing armchair doctor! I'll let the professionals work it out. Are you back home now?

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 14/07/2020 18:37

Hoping for a quick diagnosis for you now op, can't be fun waiting around in limbo, try to keep busy, reading or watching TV if you can, don't Google as it will lead you down so many wrong paths and there's no point. Everything crossed for you Flowers

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 19:00

Yes @ItsSpittingEverybodyIn Google is my worst enemy. I'm loosing hope for a quick diagnosis to be honest.

OP posts:
AstridAv · 14/07/2020 19:01

@picklemewalnuts yes thats what I thought. Doctors were convinced that was what it was but the bloods came back in range so its not that.

OP posts:
Choice4567 · 14/07/2020 19:02

Flowers how stressful. Hope you’re feeling ok

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 19:55

Thank you. Well i've been admitted and am hooked up to a heart monitor and awaiting gastro review in the morning

OP posts:
ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 14/07/2020 20:45

What are they thinking the ecg will help to diagnose? Or are they just doing every test known to man?!

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 21:14

I've no idea, its all down to chest pain why all this came about. Theyve said I have plurisey (not sure if I spelt that right)

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 14/07/2020 21:23

That would make sense! Took them a while to get to it though.

Pleurisy is about the membrane around the lungs being inflamed and possibly dry. Think it's an antibiotics job.

Just nipping off to ask DR Google.

picklemewalnuts · 14/07/2020 21:29

Ok, Dr Google says all sorts of things! There are lots of different kinds and lots of different reasons, apparently. Most of them pretty fixable, from my layman's perspective. Is there any chance you've had CV, do you think? It could be a remnant of that.

Whatever, you are in the right place to get whatever is needed. Do you have what you need? I don't suppose you were expecting and overnight!

AstridAv · 14/07/2020 21:38

@picklemewalnuts ive had lots of antibiotics, made no difference. Chest xray clear. So not sure where that came from. No covid.. had tests but I do have postnasal drip if that could contribute. I stay away from doctor google lol. I have what I need luckily I'm an over planner.. i brought a bag just in case as I didn't know what tests they would want done.

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 14/07/2020 21:54

That's really impressive! Staying away from Dr Google, and having a grab bag?! How very grown up of you.

You've inspired me to create a grab bag. It will have spare chargers for my key gadgets. Underwear. Wash kit. Credit card. Standard daily meds I take.

I have a wash bag I keep ready made, a few key makeup items and some antihistamine. I just need to add chargers, underwear and a credit/debit card. Fab! Grin

AstridAv · 15/07/2020 07:09

@picklemewalnuts I'm glad I've been an inspiration. Im not normally so organised but I've learnt from my mistakes.

Apparently I need to have my ecg monitor looked at by cardiac people as my HR is all over the show and BP keeps dropping. Fun stuff

Hooveringallthetime · 15/07/2020 07:31

Just popping on for a morning handhold OP. It sounds like they are looking at things thoroughly which is good.

Do you have bits and pieces to pass the time and offer distraction? I've just started getting into podcasts which can be useful if you haven't got the attention span to read.
I'll be thinking of you today.

AstridAv · 15/07/2020 07:52

@Hooveringallthetime thank you so much. I have a magazine but can't concentrate to read it. Tried watching stuff on my ipad but the WiFi won't let me. Never tried podcasts but ill have a look, thank you.

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 15/07/2020 08:02

I like puzzles and radio. You can get everything from colouring to soduku, to jigsaws on an iPad. It gives your hands something to do, and only occupies as much of your brain as you want to.

Here's hoping today brings some answers for you.
