Saw them in local M & S Outlet a couple of weeks ago. The fabric is a little bit thicker than normal jeans. These were Mom ankle grazer ones but came in different lengths.

I bought a pair from M & S last year and wore them though the winter.

I only suit bootcut jeans. I walk a lot and so skinny jeans are out because if they fit my waist and thighs I cannot get them over my calves, and if they fit my calves they are baggy above the knees, which is really not a good look! Other jeans just look really shapeless on me. Can we start a movement to bring back the bootcut?

Boot cuts*

ShebaShimmyShake · 13/07/2020 12:54

The straight leg also works well on a lot of people.

Fandanglethat · 13/07/2020 12:58

I love them. I think they suit me but DH thinks they turn the most attractive of people in to shapeless lumps! He hates them, though doesn't stop me wearing them (obviously).

Fandanglethat · 13/07/2020 12:59

verybritishproblems boot cut really is my style - I'm pear shaped and they really help. i'm glad they are making a come-back.

verybritishproblems · 13/07/2020 13:07

@Fandanglethat Me too, I’m a classic pear! I’m definitely going to try some on. Where do you get yours from?

lljkk · 13/07/2020 18:12

As a cyclist, bootcut is horrendous for me. I hated it when skinnies went out of fashion & were hard to get hold of.

Seeingadistance · 13/07/2020 18:26

I thought the term ‘mom jeans’ was a derogatory comment on frumpy shapeless jeans.

Are they actually called that?

And yes, very 80’s and not in a good way!

ShebaShimmyShake · 13/07/2020 18:32

They really are called that. Weird, I know. Or maybe not, since they're so awful. Maybe it's supposed to be ironic.

Perfectlyfinethankyou · 22/08/2020 14:01

Mom jeans and a great range of other styles and colours are available at Monki , an off shoot of H & M where there is currently 20%
I recently got 2 pairs true dark indigo and black
Cannot recommend them enough , well made, stout denim and very reasonably priced , fast delivery
My requirements for jeans are as follows
Minimal stretch , if any , can’t abide a baggy arsed knee or arse
Must accommodate my smallish waist and wider hips
Must have a decent rise
Robust denim , preferably able to stand up on their own 😂
Minimal fading, holes , tearing etc , specially on thigh area
I have always found jeans incredibly tricky and never really had a pair which fitted me properly and I felt were a flattering shape , these ones are brilliant, they don’t gape at the back fit my waist and stomach skin over the other bits.....
Having worked in relatively high end retail I know how jean shopping expeditions can reduce us to tears so finding the perfect pair feels amazing, I love denim

Scbchl · 22/08/2020 14:07

I really like them but think you have to be fairly slim and pretty tall or they arent very flattering. I'm a 14 now, two stone gain I'd lost previously, thanks covid, and they no longer suit me at all.

Giganticshark · 22/08/2020 14:23

Iv just bought some from new look. I thought they looked good on my fat tummy big hips frame.... But I don't have a full sized mirror except for the kids plastic one to check 😂😂

EmpressSuiko · 22/08/2020 14:29

I love them! I’m a size 8, pear shaped and find them so comfortable, I buy mine from H&M or primark, they always fit well.
My DH hates that all of my jeans sit above my ankles though 😂

fuckingcovid · 22/08/2020 14:40

I really like the look of them! Where do you get them and what are they called? Surely not mom jeans?

Sceptre86 · 22/08/2020 15:03

I have a small waist but big hips, thighs and bum. They made my large but pert derrierre look saggy. Not the best look for me.

quantumdog · 22/08/2020 16:57

Love them. They flatter my bum and I don't have to worry about the dreaded muffin top or overhang when I sit down. The best ones I've found are ASOS Farleigh. So comfortable, when I put them on for the first time it was a breath of fresh air.

TheWernethWife · 22/08/2020 17:36

fuckingcovid - yes, that is definitely what they are called - "Mom" jeans. Seen them in M&S and NEXT.

tiredanddangerous · 22/08/2020 17:45

I've deduced that if you're overweight (as I am) no style of jeans is flattering. Mom jeans definitely look better on me than skinny jeans though! I used to love bootcut but somehow these days they make me look shorter and fatter Confused

yelyah22 · 22/08/2020 17:50

I've got a great-fitting pair that make my arse look great and waist look tiny(ish) - I love them, and I'm a size 16, so not a skinny teenager. I usually wear them with Vans and a t-shirt.

HelloDulling · 22/08/2020 17:56

I love them, I hadn’t worn jeans in years, but got a pair in Zara which I love.

I think skinny jeans look terrible on anyone. Short tall fat thin young old, they look dreadful.

YouJustDoYou · 22/08/2020 18:17

I have a pair on I got in the sale from M&S. High rise and strauighjt leg. Hides my massive tummy, comfy, not tight. Thick material, long pockets. Love them.
