It's only to Scarborough for two nights but my god I'm so excited. It isn't until. September so I have a bit to wait but it's so nice to have something to look forward to!

We've just booked two nights in Liverpool so I share your excitement! Scarborough is great! Nothing wrong with the norther coast, AT ALL! Loads to do for both adults and kids! Enjoy the countdown

Thank you, @thewallisblue! We got a great deal on the Travel lodge, which definitely isn't on the fancy end of Liverpool hotels but will be a great base.

Any insider, must do tips?! Despite only being about an hour away, we've never been before!

YANBU!! We just spent 2 days in North Yorkshire this week and it was brilliant! We stayed in a hotel, ate out, visited the zoo, our toddler loved it and it almost felt normal! Enjoy xx

@restlessinthenorth you'll have a fab time! It's really fun and vibrant. My fave area is the Albert Dock - loads of great restaurants and cafes, and the Tate Gallery (if you're into that).

Shopping is great- Liverpool1 is the main shopping area and has loads of chain- type restaurants on the top level. For more independent restaurants you need to head to the older parts of town, around Bold Street or Moorfields station. Leaf on Bold Street is great for lunch and tea. My fave restaurant is Mowgli (Indian street food).

I love Scarborough! Don't be a snob. Some of us are on a budget so fancy holiday abroad aren't affordable. I also can't think of much worse than getting on a plane right now. I get a lovely scenic drive instead!
